I have been coming to Dhillon Auto in Fremont, CA since around 2007. Since 2008, I have owned about 3 vehicles and brought each of them to Dhillon Auto for service. This is my go to mechanic shop for all my vehicle issues and needs. My first vehicle in 2008 was a passed down used Toyota from my parents and Dhillon Auto always did a great job of servicing it for good prices. I highly recommend that anyone that needs any of their vehicles repaired come to Dhillon Auto. For me, what I love about Dhillon Auto is everything is straight to the point, honest, and good prices. None of that nonsense BS you experience at dealership repairs shops. They tell you honestly what the issue is and what needs to be done to correct the problem. Everything is straightforward and I have always received great service for all my vehicles. If something does not need repair they will tell you everything and let you know that it's still in good working order and does not need replacement. Honesty, quality service and good prices are 3 major keys of a great mechanic shop and Dhillon Auto consistently delivers all 3 and that is why I have been and will continue to be a repeat customer bringing in my current vehicle for service and repair. I've been a customer for a number of years and have found them to be capable of tackling any job from routine to difficult. The best part is that Jesse always tries to save me a buck, advising on best course of action before doing the repair. His quotes are firm and the price is honored no matter how difficult the job. This last repair he saved me $900 compared to another shop by using a aftermarket part with a 6 mo guarantee compared to the OEM part offered by the other shop, and was able to fix a persistent problem with the computer. read more

Hi I buy older cars with low mileage and recently had an issue with my Ford Ranger truck. I heard something pop in the front end and it made a sound when turning right and going over bumps or driveways. A few friends told me it was probably my ball joint and I could expect 500-700 to do one side. I brought the truck in explained what I thought it was and an hour later I got a call telling me it was my tie rid clips and the repair was only $200. This was a great honesty detector for me as I was fully expecting to pay for the ball joints. They knocked out the work quickly so I took my Honda civic in as the maintenance required light had gone on. Another auto place recently did an oil change and handed me a. list of 1200 worth of repairs they said I needed as the maintenance the light was signaling. I did not trust them and I took too to Dhillon who said they did not reset the oil change light and it really was fine. I had them do a transmission fluid change since I do know that on Hondas that is one thing that makes a difference in the life of the car. I have found a new home for my mechanical needs. read more

My family has been getting our cars serviced here for years. They are extremely kind, reliable, and efficient.

If I could give this place no stars I would. Let's start: I began taking my 2006 Toyota Prius to Dhillon Auto Repair, at 37247 Fremont Blvd., in Fremont, California on May 13th, 2020. I began service for my Prius for the 120,000-mile recommended maintenance I got from The Fremont Toyota dealer. My car had, at the time, 164,676 miles. The man at the dealership told me about the 120,000-mile maintenance because it included more than the 150,000-mile service job. I took my car to Dhillon's for this repair. The service clerk at Dhillon's noted other repairs that needed to be done at the time. The front brake pads, front brake rotors, and rear brake shoes were serviced on the date 5/13/2020. Following this work, Jesse, the serviceman from Dhillon's Auto Repair, suggested the water pump be replaced. I had this service done on 5/20/20. On 8/15/202 I took my car to Prius Hybrid Battery of San Jose for a full hybrid battery replacement. There the mechanics took care of the engine thermostat, inverter water pump, brand new genuine Toyota hybrid battery, and the coolant flow control valve. At the Prius Hybrid Battery of San Jose, the mechanic noticed the thermostat was not functioning, and there was no fluid in the car. I initially went to their shop for only hybrid battery replacement, and then got the thermostat done there as well. At some time, I assume there would have been notice from the mechanic at Dhillon's the thermostat was not functioning at all, and there was no fluid in the car. A short while later, I heard a squealing coming from the brakes in the car. Dhillon's lists a 365 day, or 120,000-mile warranty on all labor, and parts on each receipt. I took the car in to be inspected on 9/03/20 for the brake squeak. The notation on the receipt for a blower fan repair states, "check for a squeak sound while driving, unable to recreate squeak at this time." I took my car to Ocean Auto Body on 2/8/21 to have the squeak inspected, and the mechanic knew right away the problem. The pin had not been lubricated when the breaks were placed. This caused the pads, and rotors to wear well before they should have. Breaks usually last around 50,000 miles. These pads, and rotors, and pins were not placed correctly at all so they wore out long before they should have. This mistake cost me $385.00. Luckily, I found Nguyen at Ocean Auto Body, and he fixed the problem but, I want to make sure any, and all other work done by Dhillon's was done professionally, and correctly because driving safety is a serious concern. I would also like my brake service that was done from the Ocean Body paid for by Dhillon's and with respect, all the labor Dhillon's did to be inspected by Ocean Auto Body, and anything that was not done correctly to be serviced, and fixed by Ocean Auto Body. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, and Jesse from Dhillon's Auto Repair did not respond. This is sad. What bad customer support. Jesse is mean. read more

my car needed some maintenance ( not urgent) but was looking for some shop whom i can stick to further services, so tried Dhillon auto repair, as they had good refers online, after talking ,clarifying their questions about repair and waited for a week appointment... but on the day , Jessi denied service that there could be some foul play!!!! felt very bad and absolutely wasted a week losing holiday discount coupons for the original service shop thinking Dhillon will be my future service stop. I went back to another family owned repair shop ( whom I used some 5 years back) who is little farther ( reason why i did not go), had same talk, they gave estimate and said final estimate once they look into the vehicle. made sense! and service is excellent and expected bill. Had timing belt replaced on my 4runner, Mechanic forgot to install new tensioner spring that came with the kit. Owner said bring th car car. Im surprised on how fast they were able to install the new tensioner spring. Turned out that the shop torched the new tensioner spring and did not even install it at all. The initials that i put on the new tensioner spring is still there. Shop just torched it. I am never going back here again. Half A$$ jobs. read more

They probably don't realize that customer service and respect is key in more business as happy satisfied customers will gladly refer other people. Rudeness doesn't get you anywhere. So if you're looking to be treated well, take your business elsewhere. We took our car for a full service years back only to find there were bolts and screws that were missing after they serviced it. We tried to give them another chance thinking there would be an improvement on customer communications but that was obviously a mistake. Horrendous. I called into Dhillon Auto Repair and told them the problem I was having with my Toyota 4Runner. He told me to have the car towed in and they would check it out. I bring the vehicle in and he said the problem is very minor. He shows me small cracks in the radiator cap and is certain that is the culprit. I leave it overnight for them to further evaluate it. I call the next day multiple times and don't get any responses. I walk in and one of the mechanics tells me the vehicle is ready and outside. That's great. I get the bill. 70 dollars for 30 minutes of evaluation and a new radiator cap. I'm excited to just have my car back and do not care about the price. 2 days later, car starts having the same problem. I brought it into the dealership this time and it ended up having a blown head gasket. The overall problem was temporarily covered up by the new radiator cap. My frustration lies in the fact that they seemed to bypass a full diagnostic evaluation in favor of a lazy cap job for "symptom relief" of my vehicle. Take what you want from this story, but I will not be going back. read more

Brought my car here for a clutch repair. Came back with check engine light for O2 sensor. They came out with a code reader to clear the code instead of fixing it. Took our Toyota Sequoia in for a complete timing belt/water pump repair as it had reached 180K on the speedometer. Spoke to Jassi over the phone and told him what I wanted to get done. He understood and worked up a quote for the repair using either: 1)Toyota factory parts or 2) Aisin (Toyota's supplier) OEM parts. Since the parts were basically the same without the branding and they'd still come with the same warranty, I went OEM. *Note, unless you've done your research and know the difference between OEM and factory parts, don't settle for just any OEM parts.* I made the appointment with Jassi, after he came back with the most reasonable and no-nonsense quote that I had gotten during my week of research. I had previously contacted four other shops about the repair cost, but they either couldn't fit me in when I wanted it, lacked the time to give me a detailed quote, or wanted to charge me twice for labor costs. Dropped off our SUV in the morning and had it back before closing. Along with the first time customer discount of 10%, the bill ended up being at least $200 less than any of the other quotes that I had gotten. The repair made so much of a difference in the driveability. It was like a new car again. Will definitely use Dhillon Auto Repair in the future. Thanks Jassi! read more

This place is absolutely amazing. I wish i could give it more than 5 stars. I took my car in because my check engine light came on. On my way over there, the light went off. I took it in regardless, Jessie ran a diagnostic and it appeared that the problem resolve itself. He gave me a honest opinion and told me that if the light came back on then i should consider getting it fixed. What really impressed me was what happened next. I explained to Jessie that I've been hearing a weird noise on the right side. Long story short, Jessie spent about 45 mins trying to figure out the problem. It turned out to be my hubcaps. I haven't even had work done here but I felt I needed to write this review! On two different occasions for two DIFFERENT repairs, their reason for not being able to the work is they don't have the tools for my car. (92 7Series BMW) First time I asked was a couple years ago about getting my head gasket replaced and was told no. OK that's fine... I did it myself! Second time, I called to ask about replacing the upper control arms and I already have the parts so I just needed a quote for the labor. Now first thing all repair shops ask is "what kind of car", right? So of course the guy I talked to KNOWS what kind I have! He says, yeah I can do that for about $125! Sounds great! I'll be by tomorrow! That day comes and I call in to make sure they have the time available. I explained that I called the day before and when I told him what I needed done, he stops me and says "no! I can't do that because I don't have the tools for it"! I let him know that I talked with someone already and was told it could be done! He goes to tell me "well maybe you didn't tell him what kind of car it was." This place needs to get on the same page here and maybe invest in some more tools! read more

He is very knowledgeable, highly experienced and helpful when it comes to discovering the problems with your vehicle and making sense of your options to fix them. I love supporting local businesses in my city, but when it comes repairing something mechanically on my car, I will not hesitate to drive the distance for his great service. Recently, I thought my breaks were in need of some kind of replacement, so I drove to Dhillon's to have them do the work. Jassi came back to me claiming I still had about 50-60% of life left - what great news! Also, I briefly mentioned that there was something loose rattling around in my console or dashboard. I did not expect him to find anything - he ended up finding and tightening a loose screw behind the dashboard (a place that's not easily accessible). I'm not trying to sound like an advertisement here, but in all honesty, when you've had the ongoing consistency and success that I've experienced over the years with his shop, you want to share it with others! I have been to this facility many times. At a certain point, the battery of my car had died. Electrically, the battery tested to be fine, but the car would die again and again. They tested the car and battery over two days and finally told me that "their gut feel is battery is dead, even though it does not show that". When I challenged them little bit, Jassi totally backed off and said that it was up to me to decide what I would do. He would not say that I should change the battery because he could not prove it. Based on my gut feel, I told him to go ahead and change the battery. These guys are honest, but I don't perceive them to be super cheap. I am assured with them that they will not cheat me, for example, they will not "fix" what is already working great. However, I am not sure if they don't overcharge. For example, they may charge 2 hours of labor instead of 1 hour of labor. They are quite reasonable in charges, but not the cheapest in town. read more

I called to find out how much it would cost to replace the front brakes pads on my 2008 Subaru Tribeca. It would have cost me $360 at the Subaru dealership and at Dhillon Auto Repair I paid $173.95. They also told me that I would have to get the rear brake pads replaced but that I still had about 3,000 miles of life on them. I love that! No upselling here. Came here to have a TCM installed which I could only get from the dealer. Of course the stealership labor cost is up the ass. Called Dhillon Auto and Jassi said they could install it. The price was reasonable and I was told it'd be done the next day. Called to check on the progress. Jesse said they were test driving it and I could pick it up when they're done. Awesome. It took them at most an hour for the repair. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, the service was quick, and they kept to their word of having it done the next day.
