I've been a member of this Planet Fitness since it opened around 2013. Despite the facility being…read morerelatively small, I've generally been very happy with my membership and have enjoyed working out here for more than a decade. Unfortunately, my experience changed after the recent equipment renovation. I was excited to see the upgrades, but I left feeling disappointed. While I appreciate the investment in new equipment, replacing the Life Fitness machines with Matrix equipment was a step backward in my opinion. The rowing machine, in particular, is significantly less comfortable and enjoyable to use than the previous model. The larger issue, however, is the gym's layout. Space has always been a challenge in this facility, and the renovation seems to have made it worse. Benches are now split between the front and back of the gym, while the dumbbells are also separated into different areas. Some weights are located near the benches, while others are positioned near the front entrance with no benches nearby. There doesn't appear to be any logical flow, making workouts less efficient and more frustrating than before. I do recognize that management was trying to improve the facility by adding equipment and expanding weight options. However, the reality is that this location may have simply outgrown its space. The lack of organization and overcrowded layout have been ongoing concerns for years, and the renovation has not solved those issues. It's disappointing to say this after more than 10 years as a member, but I will likely be exploring the new fitness facility opening at Oro Valley Marketplace this summer. I appreciate the staff and the effort that went into the upgrades, but the overall experience no longer meets my needs.

The rowing…read moremachine has been a 2nd class citizen for a while, with a customer often having to wait for someone else to finish their workout. It was also in a bad spot where the personal trainers had to work around you to get at their gear. Management listened to the feedback, bought a 2nd erg (with a PM5 Performance Monitor), moved an extra couch and cubby out, and made a dedicated spot for the ergs. (see photo below) Love to see businesses listen to their customers like this and come up with creative ways of solving problems!

There was plenty of space for everyone, but also not overwhelmingly huge. Everyone was very welcoming as soon as I walked in. The sound bath was wonderful- TC started with a great guided meditation, followed by the sound bath. It was my first sound bath experience and I will definitely be back! I can't wait to take a yoga class at Iron Yoga Studio soon!
