Went for dinner with two friends. Have been here many times. Always fantastic. This time we had Kory or something like that as our waiter. He got everyone's order wrong. I used to eat at Strings in Brentwood and was so happy to see one here in Amador County! My husband had never ate here and I was able to get him to try it. Ambience was ok, bit stark but for the price it is just fine. Service was very efficient and attentive, Michele was great. Modest wine list but quite adequate. Hubby had the Tuscan steak, he said it was good, a lot of different flavors going on. I had the Chicken Parmesan it was very good. The Alfredo side served with both was bland and just ehh. The Caesar and house salad were both very good. A vinaigrette dressing would be a welcome addition to the salad but only had creamy dressings. Prices were extremely fair for the portion and quality. Tried Strings a couple of times when I really wanted some pasta last year. The change of adding what I think is Cinnamon? to the Alfredo sauce is offensive to me. I do not like it in my Alfredo, if I wanted dessert I would order that. The house salad was wilted and lacking dressing. The Tuscan steak was good. But I do a better bigger steak at home. Had dinner here last night with family from out of town. Food was good. I ordered the artichoke ravioli and had the salad instead of soup. Flavors were good, and so was our server. My only complaint was although my food was brought to me warm, it was cool within minutes due to the 3-4 ceiling fans going at full speed overhead. To be very truthful they are extremely rude for tasting like hospital grade food. When you go and spend $20 on a plate you expect great food. They served me soup with just the juice. Update: Just a day or two after this incident happened, Sharon (the owner) contacted me through email. She was simply HORRIFIED at our experience and was ver apologetic. My mom and I eat here frequently, however I don't think we will be returning after the way we were treated this evening. We arrived around 5 pm to a half full resturaunt with empty tables. The young host assumed it was a table for 3 since a couple other people came in behind me. I told him no, it was just my mom and I. He looked at his seating chart and stated "Um, it's gunna be like a few minutes." He then disappeared, not to return. I sat and waited to be seated at a table or booth. In the mean time, the people behind me were part of a party of 9, without reservations. The manager or owner (I'm not sure which) began talking with them, asking if they were waiting for a table. Then she began talking about her "daughter and her daughters husband" now owning the Baskin Robins across the parking lot. She talked to the others while the rest of her party arrived. Not once was I asked if I was part of their party, or if I was waiting for a table. Not to mention that I was sitting in the lobby, no where near the other group. What happened next was absolutely astonishing. She took the entire party and sat them BEFORE my mom and me. I was stunned. We started to say something, but she just kept walking away with the pile of menus for that party of 9. Mom and I looked at each other and simply left. There was no host or hostess to speak to at that point and we just walked out, disgusted. Wow. All told, mom and I had waited for upwards of 15 minutes. We went to Perkos, across the parking lot where we ALWAYS get SATISFACTORY 5 STAR service. We are never treated poorly at Perkos. Of course, I ordered spaghetti and enjoyed every bit of it. Better atmosphere, not ignored by staff, awesome customer service, much less expensive and I GOT MY SPAGHETTI ON!!! Shame on you Strings. read more

Last night we dined at Strings in Jackson. The moment we walked in the door, we were ushered to a booth at the window. After settling in, we were immediately brought water with lemon and handed a wine and beer list. I was pleased to see the vast array of local wine on the list, as this is one of the finest advantages of living in Amador County -- the local wine. I ordered Scott Harvey's Barbera and my husband ordered Pyramid Apricot Ale. Our server, Luke, took our order, brought us the most delicious cheese-covered bread with a consistency to die for. Beside the bread was placed a plate with olive oil/balsamic vinegar with garlic and chile flakes. Soon came a big bowl of greens with onions, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, fresh croutons, and much more. It was hard not to fill up too much on the tasty salad! Luke, our server, is attentive, pleasant, and conscious to our every need. He helped us navigate through the lengthy menu with suggestions that were helpful but not pushy. With Luke's help, we ordered the Artichoke Appetizer as well as the Lasagna Pastry. Both arrived in perfect timing after we had finished our salad. Perfect in temperature and flavor, both were Favolosa! Stupenda! We gazed at the dessert menu, listing everything one could ask for, but begged off, having had the perfect fill of a wonderful meal. We said our goodbyes to Luke, as he made us feel like old friends, and as we walked to the door, at least three of the servers bid us farewell and "Have a nice evening." Dining at Strings is always a great experience for us. We have been coming here since its opening several years ago. We have always enjoyed its ambiance, the tasteful music, and it's amenities (bathrooms) which have always been clean and well-appointed. We will always come back to Strings together or with family and friends to experience its warmth and good food! read more

Wow! I have never had better service at a restaurant than at Strings in Jackson. My husband and I work very hard in a no air conditioning environment and love to treat ourselves to a good meal out on a Friday nite. Strings food is always delicious. I don't have to worry about experimenting with trying something new-its all good. The wait staff is so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They also don't bug you every 5 minutes "to see how things are going"-they give an appropriate amount of time so that you can have a private conversation. This is the very first time I had excellent service at this location. Luke was our server, he was awesome! Refilled our drink brought bread quick, food was quick and food was excellent! Now the only negative I can give is the girl that did not greet us when we came in, her braid covered up her name tag but she did not say welcome to Strings,kiss my as or anything. She looked down her nose like it was a chore to serve anyone. Not once did she smile. I'm thinking she really hates her job and should probably not work in the good industry. I ate here tonight, the food was Ok I guess. Me and my family were seated near a table full of screaming kids so we kinda rushed through our meal to hurry up and leave. Although the service wasn't that good I still left a 5 dollar tip. The waitress and I think the manger came to my car to confront me about not giving them enough money. They must have checked the bill fold as soon as I walked out the front door, Maybe we look like the kind of family to skip on our check or something. I've always liked the food here in the 4 years I have lived in Amador County. My husband and I came here the other night and had good service and good food. I got the baked lasagna and tortellini bake and he got the chicken Alfredo. His food was a little bland and his chicken had a bit of a lemon taste which he wasn't fond of. Mine was good, the bread and minestrone soup was delicious. We also both got the tiramisu dessert which was delicious. All in all I was very pleased but it was a little expensive. Ate here with a group of 26. Called ahead the morning of dinner to see if they could accommodate us. Was told yes, they would call in additional staff. We were given a back room all to ourselves with nice long tables so we could all eat together. Bread, drinks, salads and soup were replenished quickly. Everyone in group was served their entree about the same time. Service was outstanding, prices were great, food was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. Strings is our favorite place. When ever we come through Jackson we stop at Strings in the Amador Shopping Plaza. The servers are always friendly and efficient. The food is excellent. I always order their Tuscan Steak and my husband always orders the Fisherman's stew. Kids get pasta dishes but you must try the SALAD!! It is wonderful. They serve you a huge bowl and offer refills! Each meal comes with fresh baked bread and soup or salad. For my money this is the Best value around and we love the atmosphere. It is Modern Italian. Very clean too. read more

Strings, in my opinion, is a great place to go to for delicious Italian food, Their bread is to die for, and their minestrone soup is also amazing. My personal favorite entree is the chicken Parmesan. The worst service i or my three friends have ever had served by "Priscilla". Starting off, it took a long time to be brought out our waters/drinks. Then once eating salad, she came over said "can i take your plates, dinner is coming." One person was still eating salad off their plate & they still took their plate. One entry was ordered to add chicken. It did not come with chicken, instead of sending it back we decided to eat it instead but wanted to inform them it didn't come out with chicken. She leaned over and wanted to go thru my plate like we were lying. Then once we were done with that meal she brought out chicken (which was way over cooked) we said no thank you, but she insisted we take it "you take, we aint chargin you for it" we took it but didn't eat it. Then the bill came and there was a charge $3 chicken. Then she seemed frustrated when we asked for it off & came up with an excuse that made zero sense. Finally took it off. When finally checking out splitting the bill between two cards, she charged the full amount to one, canceled it, charged half of it.. Canceled and charged half again. As of now the it shows double the amount taken from one card. It was the worse service any of us ever had. She didn't even say thank you at the end. Just held the check in front of us and stood there. Priscilla is a terrible waitress and needs to work on her customer service if she is going to be a waitress. . read more

It gets one star because the service is always good. Wish the food was better. I have tried this place multiple times in the past six years as it is conveniently located and I keep hoping for better. Someone needs to tell the cooks to back off on the salt and garlic, please! While they have a good selection and some of the dishes are interesting, they always ruin it for me with way too much salt and garlic! Hello, if I want heavier salt (and I do love salt--I am NOT on a salt restrictive diet and may like it heavier than most) I can always add it. The garlic is over the top. Even in the Italian dressing. I love garlic, but it really is over the top. I have asked about a reduction of both but told most of the stuff is pre-made--so, nothing to be done. One of the waitresses awhile back told me I can request less as the cook sometimes adds more garlic and salt, but when I did ask, I was told no go. YIkes! I may try it again someday to see if they improve, but the last few times I was so grossed out by the excessive levels of salt and garlic I couldn't finish my meal. I don't know if they are trying to get you to eat and drink more (heavy garlic is known to stimulate the appetite) and extra salt might equal more drink sales, OR if the cooks are just heavy handed, but either way, not good. I wake up the next day feeling like a salt hang-over and the garlic can linger for a couple days. I like to cook myself, and too much salt and garlic is often used by novices trying to make up for a lack of knowledgeable use of other herbs and spices...I do realize the recipes are corporate, but someone needs to check their franchises for quality control. read more

I have tried a couple of the franchised String's in other places and this one is way better. I love, love, love the bread and salad (I usually get it with ranch). I also love the dipping oils, sometimes you have to ask for it during the day, but I noticed at night that it is always brought. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in the tasty starters that I forget all about my entree, let alone dessert. So, I recommend eating a little of each to save room for their chocolate lava cake (amazing!!!), their cheese cake w/raspberry drizzle (try with your favorite red wine), and who could resist bread pudding (my husband and I literally had a spoon battle for the last bite). As for their appetizers, try the stuffed mushrooms, steamed mussels, and the artichoke dip (all very tasty) Now for the entree's, I have tried many of the items on their menu and have yet to be disappointed. I was hooked on the chicken parmesan for a long time until I got a little adventurous. I love any of the zesty seafood dishes (cioppino, seafood stew). The tuscan steak is sooo good, it comes with pasta, mixed veggies and a decadent gorgonzola sauce. Seriously, anything you try you will love. I am not much of a plain pasta eater, so I never really get the ravioli's or spagetti, but have heard that it is great. Oh yes, who can forget the sangria that is offered as a special. I almost always order that when it is available. As far as cleanliness goes, I have been seated next to the health inspector and his family (always a good sign). Furthermore, I have seen the manager constantly checking on the employees and observing the cook staff. I love to see that. Besides all that, I love the decor. It makes me feel like I am at my house. I met three friends for lunch at Strings in Jackson. It has been there for about a year now and we really enjoy going there. The decor is very nice and it feels very comfortable to eat there. I ordered a new appetizer, their version of artichoke dip. It was plenty for all three to share. Then I had the Chicken Piccata. I thought it was delicious. My friends had the soup and salad combos and loved the dressing. They serve you plenty of food too and fresh baked bread. We all shared a brownie Lasanga for desert too.. One thing that impressed me was how clean their bathroom was. The service was pretty good but most of all there is not another place to sit and chat in such a great setting and eat the amount of food and quality we had for the price. I feel this place has the best bang for the buck in todays economy you really get full and it is delicious! I would recommend it to everyone! read more

Luke was our server he anticipated our every need, salad, soup, bread, and water. As each item was being consumed he was checking if more was needed, some without asking. I've been to the Strings in Sacramento, and this one appears to be a bit nicer. Service was ok; friendly and casual, but nothing more than obligatory order-taking and check-ins. We had an artichoke dip that was soupy with mayo, but our entrees were decent. Our kids enjoyed it, and even ate free! We'll be back to try it again. read more
