Last weekend, I woke up and wanted pizza for lunch. Not just any pizza, no sir. I wanted to try Moonrise Pizza in the tiny Motherlode town of Amador City. Was it worth the drive? Did it live up to the hype? YES! 5 stars! As I stepped into Moonrise, I noticed right away the interior's fun, modern funky, fun decor. Thoroughly modern. They have a counter with stool seating that faces the TV, in addition to tables inside and outside on the front walkway. The tables outside are bistro size. The cashier was engaging. We told her it was our first time here; she was super helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered and paid with her. The food was brought out to us. But I did not know that they had pinball machines. Apparently they are located in the back room. Missed out on that action. Next time. As a kid, I grew up in playing pinball. That's my jam! We ordered a half Italian chopped salad, pepperoni and sausage pizza and two cans of soda. The salad was fantastic. Fresh, gorgeous ingredients. Bright flavors. Not boring at all. The salad was delicious. The pizza was delicious as well. It is 18 inches by 4 inches. Cut into triangle slices. The crust is sourdough focaccia that reminds me of Detroit style.The crust had a oh so slight crackly exterior with an airy, fluffy interior. We were recommended to go here for an early dinner by Wendy at Teneral Cellars. We were so glad we took her advice! The pizzas were made to order and they were delicious. Their pizzas are rectangular and the crust is thick, almost like a deep dish. We were suggested to order 3 pizzas for our group of 8 so that's what we did. We ordered the pepperoni pizza, their special blue cheese and chicken pizza, and their lemongrass beef Thai pizza. I really like the pepperoni and blue cheese pizzas. Both full of flavors and they all worked together to make well seasoned pizzas. The crispy cheesy bottoms made the pizzas even better. The Thai was was unique but fell short in the flavor department. The thai lemongrass beef was good but the rest of the pizza was just plain and bland. So I don't recommend that. Moonrise's Instagram caught my attention and I felt an overwhelming need to drive the 40 minutes to experience it for myself. I am sure glad I did because this place is legit. We ate outside as we had our dog with us. There are a few tables, but note their outside seating is minimal. We ordered inside, choosing the K.I.S.S. (house salad) and the Eat Your Veggies pizza with added sausage. Both choices were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The pizza though...mmm, it had that crispy edge that is to die for. My son and I spent a couple days in Sutter Creek and met the owners of Moonrise while playing pinball. They were incredibly friendly and we talked for a while. They told us about Moonrise so my son and I tried it out the next day. What a cool place! Its very clean inside and they have fun pinball games! I didn't have any cash, but we were able to get quarters for the pinball with my credit card, which made my son very happy! We had a pizza and it was amazing! My son was full from breakfast, but he loved the pizza so much, he took it with us and ate it on our way back home. They have a great selection of on tap and canned microbrew beers. We were up in the Jackson area and heard about this great pizza place so we had to check it out. It's located in the small town of Amador. It's a quaint little pizza place that has a wide variety of pizza and is gluten free friendly. We first got an Italian Chop salad and it was dressed just right and had good mix of veggies, cheese, and salami. The pizza was outstanding. We had the Cali-Ente which was a combo of sweet (pineapples) and spicy (jalapeños and red pepper flakes). It wasn't so spicy to ruin your palette, but enough heat that you could feel it. We also got the Tony Vodkaroni which was excellent as well. The pepperonis were super crispy which made them taste oh so good. They looked a little small coming out, but the crust makes them super filling. They are made on Focaccia bread and were crispy but also filling. The service was fast and friendly. We loved that they had pinball machines which we played while we were waiting for our pizza. Overall this place was outstanding and deserves its reputation. read more

Alright. This is it. Top tier MF Pizza. Everything is perfect. Ambiance is on lock with cool art, color and space. They have Whirwind pinball with San Francisco rules (5 balls, $.50). The town is perfect. The pizza is perfect. "Detroit style" but not that puffy dry style. It's crispy and fluffy and will get you that pizza high you've been needing. We were recommended this pizza spot by an employee at Vino Noceto in Plymouth, and I took my boyfriend and sister, we got the Tony Vodkaroni and N'Duja like it Spicy, it was absolutely wonderful, the fresh focaccia base was so light and fluffy with the toppings perfectly complementing the base. The girl working with the fun colored hair was also so sweet and had great recommendations. I've sat on this review for about a week, but I have slept on it over and over again and here we go. We came in on a Friday night. My family that includes three children and my husband. We sat by another family with children. It was hot loud and muggy which was to be expected in a small space during a heatwave. But that wasn't our issue. The owners and waitstaff are not pleasant and made us feel uncomfortable when our kids would play with their arcade games. I don't understand how you can have a family restaurant and not be okay with children. My kids were not loud either were the kids sitting by us, but the stares and comments made were uncomfortable. Our food took over 45 minutes with a few other tables. The pizza was okay. Our salad was warm. Price was reasonable. The attitude and atmosphere wasn't good.
