We have Celiac disease and find it hard to find places to eat out. We had heard about Strips through a Facebook group so my son and I drove from Blue Springs to Olathe to try them out. Upon walking in the door I felt super comfortable. The staff was very knowledgeable and helped us navigate their gf menu which was well noted. There are so many options!! We had wings, grilled chicken strips and honey nuggets. For sides we had sweet potato tots with marshmallow dipping sauce (this is a must have when you go) and fried pickle and jalapeno slices. All gluten free! We finished up with homemade ice cream in a gf cone. Food was super affordable. We even chose to round up for the owner's foster children car cause (pretty cool story you should check it out on their site/menu). We need one of these on the east side of KC! This chicken is indicative of the type found at a dusty diner, halfway between somewhere and nowhere. The portions are small for the price, and what is tasted is mostly of fried, near-flavorless breading and meat substance: I know I ate chicken today by the consistency of texture, but you would never know it with your eyes closed. The Pork strips are too thin to hold flavor, too tough to be enjoyable, and aren't brined or seasoned before hand to differentiate between any standard, white meat fried in grease. The grilled chicken needs salt to allow that great chicken flavor to shine through, but it is clean and ample of portion. It was shocking how large the "single" grilled chicken was relative to the minuscule fried variety. The white chicken chili contains heavy cream, and that isn't something I can agree with. Any sort of powdered chili to qualify the item as white chili has no business around heavy cream. Some like it, so to each his own. The fries are small and fried, which means that any possibility of tasting a fluffy, starchy potato meat beyond the crispy, greasy flavor of fried is next to none. I have heard how wonderful Strips was at one point, which is why we dined here in the first place. The yelp reviews to buttress, and what's found within that white box is starkly different than is regaled by past diners. I found only homogeneously fried food stuffs, a seemingly hospitable staff, and an odd second life inside what seems to be an abandoned Wendy's. And the novel donut - though resembling in both color and shape of hostess - is surprisingly chewy, and lacking that donut flavor you would expect; a strange thing to follow a belly of fried food - albeit, this is America after all. In this growingly ubiquitous Chicken-Strip landscape that comprises Kansas City, it seems quizzical that someone would join the fray with the national chains popping up on every third stoplight. It's getting crowded here, and my money always rests squarely at the intersection of value and flavor - with a few places doing it just right. Unfortunately Strips Chicken operates just outside that neighborhood. The food is edible, but sadly it misses the mark by a mile. read more

What a true "find". We had driven by several times and always committed that we should try it. Sorry it took us so long. Delicious chicken strips, tenderloin sandwich is thick and oh so good. Its almost a meal for 4! We share it and trim off enough to have 2 sandwiches the next day! For real! The menu is packed with interesting foods, desserts, and drinks. People: Very friendly staff, cashier was very helpful, and checked on us at our table multiple times asking about our food obviously trying build connections, very impressed. Store: Store was fairly clean. Yellow walls a bit obnoxious, chicken feeder lights were clever and added to the theme. Liked the touch screen kiosk. Food: Had the 5 strip meal (1 grilled, 2 pork, 2 crispy) with ranch and secret sauce, and white chili. White chili was awesome, tasted homemade, pork strips and chicken strips were good, but tasted like they had sat there for 5-10 minutes before we ordered, I would prefer to wait a few extra minutes to get hot fresh strips. The pork strips were the best of the three. The secret sauce was very delicious, the ranch (farmstead) was awful and tasted sour and spoiled and was very runny like water. Overall was a good meal, we will be back to try again, like to eat at locally owned restaurants, hope to see fresher straight from the fryer fresh strips next time. read more

I went through the drive thru today with kids on our way to the doctor. I was the only one there. We were getting a late lunch. I asked to have the sandwich cut in half. They told me they can't do that. Instead they gave me a cheap plastic knife. I had to cut the sandwich with a plastic knife in my lap to feed the kids. It was a true mess! There was grease, crumbs lettuce, and sauce everywhere. When I got home I sent a message to the owner through Facebook Messenger thinking he would want to know. He responded back and said that they don't split meals. I tried to explain to him I wasn't asking to split a meal I was just simply asking to have a sandwich cut in half. At that point he blocked me on Facebook messenger. It makes me wonder if the Facebook and other reviews are honest reviews. It appears to me he tries to censor who gets to speak. I really hope that the one second time they saved by refusing to cut a sandwich was worth it. I won't be back. As far as the quality of food honestly Christie's in Kansas City Kansas has a much better pork tenderloin sandwich. This place is great! The strips are fresh and the breading is delicious. There are lots of menu options for sides and dipping sauces. They make baby doughnuts in house. They also have a program to help foster kids by giving you to option to round up your order to the nearest dollar. Definitely a cool locally owned business! read more

BEST CHICKEN AROUND! Give it a try you wont be disappointed! Great food with lots of variety, friendly staff, reasonable prices! My son brought some home one day and I tried a piece and have been hooked since! The strips blow the 'other guys ' -- franchise establishments-- out of the water! They are flavorfully seasoned and cooked to perfection! I was not interested in trying out Strip' s Chicken simply because of the terrible condition the building was in when Wendy's was there. Maybe an unfair reason but my reason nonetheless. However, I came across some photos of the interior reno on Facebook one day and the place looks perfect! I checked out their Facebook page and the owner, Todd, who makes the majority of the posts, seems so personable and happy to be here in downtown Olathe. He could have opened the restaurant anywhere but chose to help bring some life back to Downtown Olathe. Something so desperately needed in this part of town! So we tried Strips when they first opened. We thought it was pretty goood. I think at the time we were on the run, are super fast and did not taste the food. About a week ago we tried it again. My wife and I got a chicken sandwich with hot honey on it and also a pork tenderloin Parmesan sandwich. We also shared onion straws and fried pickles and jalapeños. I am gonna tell you I HATE this place. We have been there 4 more times in a 1.5 week span. My wallet is not loving that. That meal was a game changer. The pork sandwich I laughed at, told my wife pick this thing up. It weighed a ton and was so good. The Chicken sandwich was also amazing. Since then we also tried the open face white chili burger. It was a little messy so be careful where you are eating it. The kids love the strips and the nuggets. Naturally we all love the different types of donuts they have. The staff is always super friendly, we have had no problems with incorrect orders as well. The best part of this place is they are locally owned. Sometimes this is not always great when it comes down to pricing. However they keep a low price point, and use all REAL ingredients. I think the only item that is not are the tots. I would also like to add that the onion straws are new to the menu. Sometimes you get them and they are dripping in grease. Not these!!!!! I say if you are going to the typical fast food places for yourself or with the kids, try Strips. You will never go back to the other places. read more

If a food establishment wants to earn my immediate business, there's no surer way than offering donuts. Y'all have heard about chicken and waffles. But make way for Strip's Chicken, the newest (and possibly most unique) fried chicken stop to the KC area. Housed in what used to be a very old Wendy's in the neighborhood I lived in as a child, I didn't have terribly high expectations - it is, after all, fast food. But let me just say that where other restaurants have simply performed variations on a theme, Strip's has taken the stage in a profoundly different way. I for one can truly appreciate something being different; however, even those who tend to stick to their traditions will adore this cute little chicken shop. Wanting to try their chicken in its most rudimentary form (so as to get full exposure to the distinct taste of their craft), I ordered chicken strips. I'll go ahead and say I never get chicken strips, because I prefer dark meat, and the juicier, moist flavor that the typically dry meat of chicken strips rarely accomplishes. I was excited to try out their strawberry BBQ (because I'm from Kansas City, duh) and eager to test out the donut that was included in my meal. It seemed to be a curious combo, but elicited my curiosity nonetheless. First bite in, and I was hooked. These strips were cooked so tenderly they blew their competition out of the water, simultaneously changing my bias against chicken tenders forever...now that I knew they could be made correctly. And that was all before I tried their strawberry BBQ. Let me tell you what, KC is famous for its maple/sweet-sourced BBQ flavors (among others of course), but something as sweet as strawberry made me think it wouldn't be such a good idea in BBQ. One taste of it was enough to make me repent for such foolish thoughts. I was stupefied at how well the flavors mixed in this savory concoction, the sweetness subtle enough to not overpower the meat-enhancing, smoky BBQ flavor. It was STUPID delicious, and completely out of left field, considering this was a pretty small and relatively new joint in the neighborhood. Of course though, the donuts deserve their own mention. You get to watch the donut machine craft these delicious little fried rings LIVE on a big flatscreen TV MOUNTED IN THE RESTAURANT. If that's not a damn cool idea, I don't know what is. This thing practically 3D prints out these perfect pastries before your very eyes. By the time they get to your table, you can smell their subtly sweet goodness wafting up, and you can't wait to bite in. I'll tell you what, these donuts don't make me feel NEARLY as guilty when I shovel them all down my gullet. They're fried, sure, but they're not overly sugary, and the doughy flavor of their breading is what truly provides the flavor - not any glaze or sugary exterior added to compensate for lackluster taste. There are different varieties you can get here - plain ones, ones with powdered sugar on the outside, etc. - but even the simplest variety are delicious. From the scrumptious food to the adorable decor (they literally have upside down chicken feeders hanging from the ceiling as lights), Strip's is my new favorite start up around here. If you're tired of greasy stains in the bottom of your soggy KFC box, give Strip's a try and realize you don't have to suffer through your typical fast food experience to have a box of yummy chicken. read more

First time i tried this place today despite the craziness of constructions ! I got there 20 minutes late and my food was cold ... BUT I reheated in my air fryer and everything tasted so yummy, chicken strips are very well seasoned and nice crisp ( and not greasy ) . The sign advertising Gluten Free Nuggets was misleading because these were not like any nuggets I've had before. First of all, the size, they are not small nuggets. They are huge and delicious. Crispy golden brown, juicy and fresh. The strawberry sauce was a little to spicy for me so if you like spicy it's the sauce for you but stay away from it if you can't handle the hot. To be honest, the nuggets don't really need a sauce. If you order the combo, you get two nuggets for every chicken strip that would be in the combo. The donuts are out of this world good. I thought it was odd to have a donut with your meal but now I'm wondering how come every meal doesn't come with a bite size donut included. I had the smashed potato as my side and I wasn't a fan of the gravy but I loved the potatoes. They were seasoned just right. My beverage was Pink Lemonade and the way it tasted, it had to be homemade. As someone else said, the pictures on here don't do them justice. The food is very good and the Staff is very friendly! I've been wanting to try Strips for months. So glad our family finally drove through after a busy day of visiting family. It was delicious. The whole family enjoyed the fresh, tasty chicken strips. We have a new "go-to" when we are in the mood for chicken strips now! The sweet potato tots are amazing! Can't wait to try their mushroom strips and ice cream! Went here after seeing reviews and pics all over a local restaurant FB page. Things started out with the owner coming up and asking the order taker to perform a duty once after my order was taken. As he was walking off she mumbled I'll put add it to my list as she rolled her eyes. I asked a couple questions about menu items and got half-assed answers. So I settled with something safe and ordered a 5 piece chicken strip meal with a side of mac and cheese. Supposedly made fresh, yet my order came up less than 60 seconds after I paid. My Strip's were grease soaked, chewy, and bland at best. The made from scratch gluten free mac and cheese literally tasted like Velvetta shells and cheese with an extra package of cheese sauce added . All in all I've had better meals that were comparable at any grocery store's "hot window". I would literally choose Raising Cane's, Zaxby's, or even Slim Chickens over this place for the price point. Strips is my new fav 'cheat' meal of the week! I waited months to try this place and can't believe I didn't try it sooner. I have a sensitive stomach (meaning a lot of fast food doesn't sit well in my stomach) however not once has Strips ever affected my GI system. I point this out as this means 1) they use quality ingredients such as 'real' chicken in their strips and nuggets and 2) they keep their grease fresh and clean. (Dirty old grease can affect the taste of the food and how well your body can digest food) As I age, food doesn't digest the way it did in my younger years. My absolute fav item is the sweet potato tots with marshmallow cream! Oh my! Who needs desert with an amazing side like that? I love the gluten free honey kissed chicken nuggets. They are always hot and fresh! This is my fav entree. The pork Burger is an interesting new item. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the juicy patty. The grilled chicken spinach salad (entree portion) is large and very filling. I enjoyed the sweet raspberry vinaigrette dressing. The chicken strips are very good too, however personally I prefer the nuggets. The homemade pink lemonade is quite tasty. And of course the donuts are amazing! The original donuts taste like mini funnel cakes. I love supporting small businesses and wish Strips well. Yes, I have experienced a couple wrong orders, but that's the growing pains of a new restaurant. Each time, they have corrected my order. I learned a long time ago (from other fast food chains) to check your bag before pulling away. Be patient! A new restaurant, with new staff, and a new menu... Go check out Strips! They have the best tasting chicken of any of our local chicken places. My husband has tried them all. They create all their own sauces. Even their ice cream is different and better from what others tell me. The best thing is their ability to work with food allergies! There server GLUTEN FREE, EGG FREE, DAIRY FREE honey kissed chicken nuggets. I am not gluten free as a fad. I have CELIAC DISEASE and I'm allergic to many foods too. They took it seriously. I've been to Strip's numerous times and guess I forgot to do a review until now. However, that works out because things have changed so my original review would not be very accurate. The star rating would not have changed, though. I like the change in Strip's menu as they now have more items and more sauces. I usually get their grilled strips since grilled is now an option. I prefer spicier sauces and they've got a nice mix of those. I prefer their red magic sauce, but I have tried several different ones and they're all pretty good. If you get their strips meal, you get a side and a doughnut. Originally, they had crinkle cut fries which were very tasty and I'm not a fry guy. Now, you get shoestring fries and they're just meh. So I go for the white chicken chili as my side. Yum! However, if you're not into spicy foods, the chili has a bit of a kick. Finally, you get a very small doughnut I guess as a dessert. It's a little different having a doughnut with your dinner. It's not the tastiest doughnut, but it works. Just so you know, the more strips you get in your meal, the cheaper it is per strip. The 3-strip meal is something like $6 and a 5-strip meal is a little over $7.50 while a 7-strip meal is about $9. $6 for three chicken strips and a side seems a bit high. I haven't tried much of the other menu items, but I'm sure they're good. To me, it's called Strip's for a reason. I don't go to Chik-Fil-A for a burger. I don't really see myself going to Strip's for a pork sandwich. The employees at Strip's have always been nice. I recommend giving Strip's a try. I think it's good food and you'd be supporting a small business. Now if they'd bring back the crinkle-cut fries, I might up my rating. read more

Went with some friends for some grub, and it is my new favorite! Three chicken strip meal with fries and donuts. I got secret sauce and strawberries BBQ and I preferred secret sauce, so freaking good. I will be back. I went back and got more donuts in different flavors, about died a sweet donut death. The valpac coupons convinced me to try Strip's and I'm glad I did. This place is now on my "go to" list when I'm really hungry and want good food fast. The food is REAL! None of that garbage from a chop shop processing plant that has subsequently been frozen for a year. The quality is far superior to any of the chain restaurants. After reading about the restaurant, the ingredients, and the owners philosophy, I am even more hooked on this place. Olathe needs more places like this and fewer of the big generic box places that serve toxic food. I've been hearing great things about this place so I decided to check it out one weekday at lunch. I was expecting it to be pretty busy but we ordered and received our food in less than 5 minutes. The chicken strips were delicious and the sauces were tasteful as other reviews stated. We also tried the avocado chicken sandwich and the portabella mushrooms which were great! But...those donuts were amazing. The employees were so friendly and the owner was personable. I'm going back for sure...and I'll be getting their chicken and donuts! read more
