The ambiance is dark, moody, and intimate--exactly what you want for a special occasion--but what really stood out was the live music. It added such a beautiful energy to the space and broke things up in the best way without taking away from the vibe. Every single dish we ordered was impeccable. Not one miss. The drinks were also perfectly balanced--crafted with intention, not just poured--and it definitely showed. Service? Top-tier. Our water glasses were never empty, and the entire staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. Huge shoutout to our server, Tori, who was absolutely amazing. I absolutely loved the ahi crudo roll... and the Rockefeller oysters.. I would return for those plates and drinks. The filet minon was also very tasty and well cooked/seasoned. Overall, one of the best meals I've had while visiting Oahu. Service: The only negative id point out is that the table next to us was treated a bit differently (better). It was a young couple celebrating their birthday (as we were) and they received a slice of cake with a candle while we received nothing. Not a big deal. We were pretty full, but it was the principle. Their waiter had more of a rapport with them (discussing night clubs and 420-chatting). Strip steak is a great place to eat at. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. We had Rich, and he assisted by giving us a heads up as far as what we can share and if the plates were shareable. My wife and I stopped here to have dinner on Sunday night. We shared the 20 OZ RIBEYE, which they cut up for us and shared the whipped mashed potatoes. Both were amazing! The "Sunday's on Ice", a special HH that adds cold seafood and caviar to the regular HH menu is still ongoing but subject to change / cancellation at any time. That said, holy F***!!! Straight to it, the Sunday only, "caviar madeleine", a reinvention of the caviar Twinkie with a corn bread base, yuzu creme fraiche and caviar with a dollop of caviar is amazing. At just $24 each, a great way to begin. Add to it the "chips and dip" AKA house fried potato chips with powdered ranch spices, creme fraiche and caviar, a truly indulgent bite though they should offer an option to add more caviar for a supplement price. More in this case is better. Sure, this dish is stolen from Caspian's Rock and Roe in Vegas but who cares, it's so good. Moving on, the fish and chips, excellent. A meal on its own. Large pieces of fresh mahi mahi, batter coated and fried extremely crisp. It is sat atop a bed of fires that have been spritzed with malt vinegar and what seems to be African harissa (not furikake as the server indicated). It is accompanied by a completely unnecessary picante cocktail sauce and pink peppercorn aioli. Fish, excellent; fries, over seasoned but passable. The HH chop wedge outstanding as per usual. Mina's ahi poke, outstanding as always. Mixed tableside to adjust spiciness. Don't run your fork through the "shaka" and lick it. Service is stellar. From a host who sat us at a regular table during HH to the personable bartenders and servers. Finally, the return of a real chef making sensible, steakhouse worthy dishes using locally sourced ingredients where possible makes StripSteak Waikiki and once again, worthy of being highly recommended. read more

With all of the great food options in Hawaii and restaurants that actually treat their guests with the aloha spirit that best represents the islands, I would recommend spending your money elsewhere. Our party of 3 arrived at Stripsteak around 5pm on a weeknight. The dining room was empty with a few people at the bar and outdoor patio. Although we had made a reservation, we let the hostess know that we were interested in the pau hana menu (a 3 course set menu) as well as the happy hour menu. She guided us to a booth letting us know that it'd be okay to order from there. Our server arrived to greet us and was initially friendly. However, when he saw us looking over the happy hour menu and we let him know that the hostess had said we could order the pau hana meal set, his mood immediately changed and he made a sarcastic remark how he guessed it was fine. The pau hana meal set includes an appetizer, entree and dessert. The portions are smaller, so I'm not sure that it's that much of a deal. It more so seems like the discounted price just represents the smaller portion of the item you'll receive. The food itself was good, but nothing was outstanding. Throughout the meal, the service continued to be uncomfortable with a few specific incidents that were awkward and unprofessional. At the end of the meal, I went to the restroom. For a nice establishment with premium prices, you'd expect nice facilities but they were disgusting. The bathroom was a mess and there was something wrong with almost every stall either with lights broken so the stall was pitch dark or locks being broken and not working. Overall, I was really disappointed by this meal. When everything's a miss, it feels like such a waste. Even though we did order from the happy hour/pau hana menu, we still ended up paying over $200 not including tip. Very disappointing and not a great representation of Hawaii. read more

Always a great time at strip steak! I come here so often I know the staff and they always have great service. I sit at the bar usually and the bartenders are attentive and have good conversation as well. I love coming here for a solo date, before heading out to party for the night, or with friends to celebrate an occasion. I usually get the Mahi Mahi, but this time I spoiled myself and splurged on the gelato.. paired with the complimentary duck fat fries, was an insane flavor combo! There are so many staff and everyone is always watching to take care of your needs. We sat outside and it was beautiful. Not too hot, and there is plenty of shade. CJ was wonderful and had mine prepared sans duck fat. The Caesar salad was excellent, I had it sans the tempura anchovy but my partner ate that and he loved it. He had the wagyushu for his main course and it was marbled with fat, had a perfect cook, and flavor. The cauliflower steak was delicious! I recommend the chimichurri sauce for it! Celebrated an engagement with close friends and family! We were a large party of 9 with a reservation at 9pm on a Saturday. Restaurant was lively and had perfect weather for a semi outside table and an open floor layout. Our party arrived at different time but our server Rick was extremely helpful. He kept our drinks coming and got all our orders in a timely manner. Everything tasted great and we enjoyed all our drinks as well. Highlight was the lamb and the tako skewers! (My personal favorites) a lot of our table got the chicken jidori and swore it was their favorite thing here. WOW! We decided to host our holiday party here in the private room and we're so glad that we did! Service and food were amazing and all of the guests were raving about how it was such a great dinner. I'm so thankful for that yelp event a while back because it reminded me of this awesome restaurant! The private dining room is gorgeous. It has floor to ceiling windows and it's very private with a side entrance to the bathrooms too. It was so easy to communicate with their events manager because they answered all my questions extremely timely! I never had to follow up with them since they were so responsive! I made a reservation online and noted the occasion--and wow, the staff truly went above and beyond! They wished him a happy birthday multiple times, surprised us with a handwritten card, and even brought out a complimentary coconut cake. Such a thoughtful touch! The entire staff was incredibly attentive, and we're sooo appreciative of the warm hospitality. Drinks: They offer a great selection of liquor, wine, and cocktails. My husband especially loved the Wild Turkey 70th Anniversary 8-Year--he highly recommends it if you're into bourbon! Food: Their menu features fresh, local-inspired dishes, and we were impressed. Located on the Grand Lanai rooftop of the International Market Place Shopping Center, Stripsteak brings together the vibrant flavors of a modern American steakhouse with that of unique Asian influences, thanks to their menu featuring a wide variety of meats including all-natural Prime Certified Angus beef, American Wagyu, and Japanese A5 Wagyu. What sets Stripsteak apart from so many of their competitors including many of which are located right near them along Kalākaua Avenue, which serves as the main tourist thoroughfare in Waikiki, is the fact that an extra special attention to service is given to everyone who walks through their door. With an open-air patio ambience that actually was revealed as I dined there at their bar area, Stripsteak truly is an exceptional place to dine and is in line with other restaurants that Michael Mina operates with his name on the masthead. What brought me here on a recent visit to Waikiki, was the fact that Stripsteak hosts what they call a High Tide Hour, which in essence is a Happy Hour exclusively in their bar area from 4-6 p.m. every day. I'm always on the lookout for a good Happy Hour, and with Stripsteak so close to my hotel, a visit was a must, and it did not disappoint. With plenty of open seating at their bar area, I was presented with a menu at Stripsteak that presented as if it was a massive binder thanks to the abundance of wines and liqueurs they feature here. To start my meal I ordered their Lychee Mule which had a nice combination of vodka, lime and ginger beer in a chilled copper mug, and it was a refreshing way to start my meal. To start my meal, I ordered their 3 Piece Jumbo Tiger Shrimp Cocktail, which was served on a bed of ice and with wasabi cocktail sauce; and their Spicy Ahi Tuna Taco which was served with Avocado Purée and Sriracha Aioli on a deep-fried seaweed paper. With my drink in hand and being able to enjoy my two small Happy Hour entrées, I enjoyed my time at Stripsteak as live music was playing in the dining room as I was able to watch others enjoy their meal at their tables. I loved the taste of both entrées with the jumbo shrimp being super large and enjoyable and my only regret with tuna taco was that it was so small that I wanted a second one almost right away. Instead of ordering that second helping of tuna, I looked at their Hide Tide Hour menu and saw a number of items that intrigued me including their Chop Chop Wedge and their Holo Holo Burger & Fries. But there was something about their Fish & Chips which was a market fish served with hurricane fries and a pink peppercorn tartar dipping sauce. After enjoying a refreshing Lychee Mule, I decided to try a second Happy Hour cocktail, the Lilikoi Mai Tai, made with their signature rum blend, lilikoi, and lime. It was strong with every sip, and while I was glad to experience Hawaii's signature drink, I quickly realized it wasn't my personal favorite. As for the Fish & Chips entrée, it was plentiful with deep-fried fish, almost too plentiful as I had trouble finishing my dish and the tartar sauce had too much peppercorn which would overpower the entire dish. For a total bill of $77.49, a generous spread of food and drinks, Stripsteak delivered the best meal I experienced in Waikiki when it came to service and ambiance. It's clear they know exactly what they're doing here: as I lingered past Happy Hour, the crowds only grew, proof that this spot has staying power. read more

For Appetizer we had the instant bacon. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection except the lamb chops but I'm just gonna assume it was bad batch. For the appetizer we ordered the grand chilled seafood platter and then I got the diver scallop pasta as my main. I don't usually eat chilled seafood platters but this one was great! The seafood was fresh and the shrimp, crab and lobster were all nice and meaty (I don't eat oysters lol). My diver scallop pasta was delicious! Everything about it was just so good. The pasta was nice and al dente, scallops were cooked perfectly and the pesto had a bright fresh zesty flavor from the arugula and yuzu. I tried a bite or two of the steak with some mashed potatoes and the steak was so tender and the potatoes were so creamy and buttery! We went there on weekday's early evening. It was empty when we got there, but pretty packed by the time we left. The staff were pretty attentive. The atmosphere wasn't so upscale and more casual. Mai Tai - I didn't like the crushed ice in it as it melted fast and made the drink watery. The drink was not as strong as expected. Guava Margarita - It was on a bit sweeter side, but was tasty and interesting. Complimentary French Fries - Duck fat and a hint of rosemary made these fries really good. Accompanied by three different sauces made it more enjoyable. Jumbo Lump Crabcake - It was smaller than I thought, but a strong Old Bay seasoning was kind of unique and tasty. Boiled Diver Scallops - It was good yet a bit bland for our liking. Washugyu Ribeye - The taste of meat and doneness were excellent. We were able to reserve the room several months in advance and pick out the menu. Planning an event here was very easy. Stripsteak is located in the International marketplace in Waikiki. They do a partial validation for parking. Overall, the food was exceptional. Unique with an interesting take. We started out with fries, edamame, instant bacon, Ahi crudo,and a wedge salad. All served family style. For my main entrée I had the filet mignon. Steak was very good, and tender, although my steak was only slightly warm and not hot as would be expected. It's almost like it was cooked and then sat for a while before being served. Sides included, broccolini, roasted brussels sprouts, truffle mac & cheese, and whipped potatoes, all of which were delicious and served family style as well. For dessert we had the Kona dark chocolate layered cake. Service was attentive, but otherwise very slow. We had reserved the private dining room for three hours from 5 PM to 8 PM. The initial hour was for drinks and mingling with dinner to be served at 6 PM, however, dinner wasn't actually served until 7:30 PM. We were all pretty hungry by the time the food arrived. I'm use to going to steak houses and being given a nice sharp knife that just slices through the meat. We also order a small side of foie grad to accompany the steak. Our server Reynaldo was great & explained everything on and off the menu. He gave his personal suggestions and most popular recommendations. There was also a sommelier who came over to help us decide which wine we would have with our dinner. Both server and som were extremely helpful. Don't be afraid to ask them questions. We ordered the lamb and the 8oz filet for our entrees. It was recommended that the lamb be cooked medium well with a nice char & it came out perfect. My husband said it was the best lamb he's had from any restaurant! As for my filet it was nicely cooked to medium as well and I enjoyed each bite of it. We also ordered asparagus to share which we loved too. They serve complimentary garlic fries with dipping sauces before the meal so just know it's like their "bread service". This was my first time at Strip Steals in Honolulu and I was pleasantly surprised by my dining experience. The service was top notch from start to finish. We ordered the 20oz ribeye to share, which I thought was a little on the lean side based on the wait staff's recommendation. We also ordered a side of mushrooms And Brussels sprouts to pair with our ribeye. The sprouts were very quite delicious with its sweetness and slight bitterness. While the ambiance was relaxing, our seating was not the most ideal spot as we were seated right next to the wait staff's work table and constantly heard the employees conversing loudly right behind our heads. read more

Late review as we ate here about a week ago for the first time in a staycation over the weekend. We made reservations for dinner. The restaurant did get packed so I recommend making reservations for your party no matter the size. This place is pricy and I find appropriate for food made by a celebrity chef. It was similar to Gordon Ramsay prices in Las Vegas. Service was excellent. The hostess, whose name I forgot to get, got us seated quickly. Our server Jeat, was very attentive and knew the menu well even recommending personal favorites when we had a hard time deciding. He was very attentive when I brought up food allergies and steered us away from things with those sort of ingredients. We also had Kyle and Justin come by our table to take dishes, deliver dishes, and top up our water. There was not a moment my glass of water was empty and was refilled quickly and sometimes without me noticing. These guys were great. We ordered instant bacon and hamachi taco for appetizers. Our entrees were the 16 oz washugyu ribeye and a jidori chicken. The fries were a starter that came out with drinks in 3 sauces. These were some of the best fries I've ever had. If there is anything I regret, it's not ordering 3 plates of the instant bacon. This was the favorite dish of ours and we just keep thinking about it one week later. I consider this a must try if you come here for the first time. The tacos were also great and flavorful. I liked the creative use of the nori as it was made crispy and the taco shell. Delightful to eat. The washugyu ribeye was very well seasoned. It did get hard for me to eat towards the end as I didn't pair it with a sauce. The last bites were super salty but I can't complain so much as other steaks I've had weren't seasoned as well as this. Yhe jidori chicken was very flavorful and juicy. The molten cake for dessert was light and a great dessert. You can't really beat the hot and cold combo of this dessert and it's a dessert i would go for on most dessert menus. Though the basque cheesecake was calling me too. Overall we enjoyed this restaurant so much we plan to eat here again for our anniversary later in the year! read more
