My husband and I came here for our honeymoon (HELLO HUSBAND!) and the celebration was truly accomplished here. The ambiance is top tier. Our hostess was so friendly and we had many stop by to check in on us. We ordered the chefs special porcini rubbed bone in rib eye, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and lobster tail. We also had espresso martinis, dirty martini and a Mai tai. Our waiter, James, was also a highlight of our experience here. He was so kind, professional and friendly. You can definitely tell there is a standard here and that is something that is lacking in many places now a days. I cannot express how highly I recommend this place. We will be returning yearly!

We had our monthly car club dinner here on 8/17/26. Our club member set it up, worked out great. Set menu where we chose what we wanted a head of time, server double checked with all members that attended and made sure it was prepared the way it was requested! Staff was attentive and took care of all our needs. A great place to have an intimate dinner or a club dinner like we did. (I personally had both and both were great!!)

Capital Grille was our second stop last thirsty Thursday night, after enjoying appetizers at a different location. It was still HH (4pm-6pm), so we were in time to order a couple of the New York strip HH plates and some glasses of the Acquisition cabernet;a great combo. We also had the Lollipop Lamb Chops and the complimentary "bread service". We were sitting at the bar, and the service by the two lady bartenders was excellent. My buddy and I left full, with happy taste buds, and ready for the next location. The Capital Grille is a great spot for a casual night out or any special occasion. It's spacious, clean, and comfortable, with great facilities and service.

Capital Grille is a new addition to Waikiki, and it's consistent with other Capital Grille experiences I've had. In my opinion, the steaks are good, but the quality does not quite match the price. There are no large format steaks for two or three on the menu, so we each ordered our own. Both in my opinion were a bit under-salted. While the servers are nice, the service itself is a bit inconsistent. They also forgot one of our items until we asked for it, so we received a starter after our steaks. Overall I'd say this is a satisfactory place for business or a casual date, but not an aspirational dinner.

Amazing Steakhouse in the heart of Waikiki on Kuhio. Although we Uber'd there they also have valet parking. It was a great mix or tourists and locals. We made reservations on Open table for our 1 year anniversary. The service was so professional from the host, server, and the manager stopped by to ensure that everything was going well. The reason for the 5 stars is that its a great combination of ambiance, delicious fare and really professional staff. The crab and lobster cake was stuffed with crab and lobster unlike other places with "fillers" in their crab cake this one was all seafood it was delicious. The double cut cherry wood bacon was so flavourful it melts in your mouth another great appetizer. We both ordered the tenderloin and butter poached lobster tails. Tenderloin was perfectly cooked and lobster tails complimented the steak perfectly. I had leftovers which I enjoyed the next day. The complimentary bread basket was delicious especially the pupernickel and raisin bread. It was so nice of them to provide a complimentary dessert for our anniversary the cheesecake and chocolate cake were a perfect ending to a very special dinner. Highly recommended for special occasions, date night, business dinner or girls night out.

Happy Hour in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawai'i... My friend wanted to take me out and asked me where I wanted to go... I answered: "The Capital Grille" She said that her son lives in the same building as the restaurant... The Lilia! What a coincidence! She had never been to The Capital Grille, so it was a new adventure for both of us! Located at the corner of Kūhiō Avenue and Kānekapōlei Street, The Capital Grill is a fancy chain steak house. The interior was elegant and classy! We were first in line, before 4pm, so we got seated right away. I had studied the "Capital Hour" menu and ordered the Cast Iron Garlic Shrimp, Petite Filet Sandwiches, Caesar Salad Bites, and the Parmesan Garlic Fries. If i knew that we were getting a complimentary bread basket (lavosh, rolls, and 2 other kinds of bread), I wouldn't have ordered the fries. My friend was really happy with the food! Everything was delicious and beautifully plated! Service was efficient and friendly... especially when I told our server where we parked... LOL! (I had a bad experience with valet service in the past.) We had to move the car quickly... haha!

This restaurant is located on the corner of Kūhiō Avenue and Kaiulani Avenue. Although we made a reservation, we were informed that they no longer accept reservations for happy hour and now operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Luckily, we arrived right when they opened at 4pm, so we had no trouble getting seated. The space felt upscale overall, yet still relaxed around the bar area, and the service was attentive and pleasant. I ordered the Classic Margarita, which was exactly as described--simple, refreshing, and well-balanced. The Mushroom Truffle Arancini was delicious, with the mushrooms adding a rich, earthy flavor. We also had the Grille's Signature Cheeseburger with French fries. I requested medium doneness, but it was cooked slightly more than that. It didn't bother me too much since it was still a flavorful and satisfying burger. That said, I did notice that items we had leaned on a bit strong truffle flavor and were a bit on the salty side. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would consider returning for dinner in the future.

Located on the corner of Kuhio and Kanekapolei street. We walked over from our work place and dined here for happy hour available everyday from 4p-6p. Know that they don't take reservations for happy hour and that it's only walk-in for the bar area only. It started off a little rocky, when you first walk into the establishment, there's an interesting smell to the place, to which at first, smelled like a mix of onion and body odor. Not sure if it was from the woodsy elements of the wine lockers or the welcome mat but luckily it was only in the immediate doorway when walking in. We quickly got seated at a high-top near the bar, to which Mike was our server. There was a huge horse fly buzzing around on the window nearest us when we sat and we kindly asked for it to be taken care of, to which it didn't quite happen. Though eventually the fly, flew elsewhere by the time our food was placed on the table, thank goodness. As for the food, the lamb was by far my favorite item on the happy hour menu. It was prepared well and didn't have a gamey taste. The oysters were yummy, as well as the house bread. The sliders' buns were a little too dry for my liking, but overall the food was good. When utilizing the restrooms, I realized there was a whole different dining section with booths and private rooms. I'll definitely have to come back to try it once more, to see how their dinner menu pans out.

Wife and I visited on a Saturday night and although the restaurant was busy, they easily accommodated us with a short notice reservation. We shared the porcini rubbed balsamic ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. The creamed spinach was on point as well. The onion roll was very tasty and the dessert provided for our anniversary was amazing - the crème brûlée topping on the cheesecake was spot on. Makana, our server, was friendly, efficient, and offered great recommendations. Will definitely return!!

I have been here a couple of times already. The steaks and lobsters are a little on the small side. Wonderful desserts. The service is outstanding. Waitstaff are so courteous and helpful. The decor of the restaurant is elegant and pretty with dark woods and colors. The 4 stars would be that I would rather park in the building like you would do for the other restaurants in the building. At Christmas, there were pushy people behind us and one older woman kept trying to get ahead of me so I had to push back. The restaurant is in Waikiki, so manners might be lacking when people are on vacation.

I was so glad Capital Grille added Happy Hour!! I don't eat a lot and the portions were just right. I went with a friend and we split the happy hour steak. We ordered medium raw. (Rare). It was perfectly cooked and served with a chimchurri like sauce. Yummy. The lamb chops came with a balsamic glaze. 2 chops one for each of us. It was so to die for. We spotted the shrimp dish served in a cast iron dish and we had to try it. The sauce was amazing. The shrimp were served on tiny toasts that sopped up the tasty sauces. It had fresh shaved cheese on top. We ordered extra bread to not waste all that wonderful sauce. They also had a magician to entertain us. We are coming back

This review is just based on my first experience here. The night did not start out well after waiting 15 despite showing up for our reservation on time. The waiter then told us that they are out of the dry aged steaks i seriously thought he was joking. So no NY or about a quarter of their menu. The only steak they had was the ribeye and tenderloin. How can a steakhouse run out of steak? They had their reservations well in advance and should have known this would happen. First was the caesar and the french onion soup. The french onion soup was overly salty and my kids could not finish it. They always order this at good steakhouses and this was the first time they said this. I tried it and it was almost like they made a mistake and added too much salt. The Caesar was good. Appreciate that it was a 'real' caesar and not a creamy caesar. But it was not nearly as good as the Hy's caesar. Our mains included ribeyes and the tenderloin with lobster. I had the porcini crusted ribeye and it was very good. Great crust and good flavor. The crusted ribeye was definitely more tasty than the regular. The tenderloin and lobster was also very good except one of the tenderloins had a big piece of fatty gristle, which is surprising for a tenderloin. Sides were both very good. The truffle fries had a strong truffle flavor and the cream corn was a good choice as well. So why 3 stars? If it is a nice restaurant i am more demanding and if i am dropping about $600 for 4 people i expect more. They did not pass the water test. 3 times my water was empty. Got seated late with little empathy about our wait. Food was probably a 4 to 4.5 but the fact that they ran out of dry aged steaks just rubbed me the wrong way and the french onion soup dropped the rating as well. If i go back i will re-rate it but there are probably other places I would go to instead before trying here again.

My fiancee took me to The Capital Grille for my birthday. Olivia was our server. She was super knowledgeable on the menu and gave us multiple options on how to order. The food was excellent. We ordered a half dozen Fat Bastard oysters, shrimp cocktail, a cup of clam chowder and the porcini rubbed ribeye steak. The dessert was a chocolate espresso cake and a creme brulee cheesecake. The service was impeccable. The food was impeccable. Overall it was a fantastic evening and a highly recommended way to celebrate a birthday.

Since it was late, we noticed the back of house staff help the front. Everyone was so friendly and food comes out fast. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food was a bit too flavorful - we all agreed that everything was slightly salty. I could also say portion of some items may not match price, but I understand inflation is increasing at an alarming rate. So I'll leave money out of this. Crushed cucumbers were interesting. We couldn't decide if eating it with chopsticks or spoon was better. With chopsticks, you might not get enough sauce. But you could taste the layers of flavor. With a spoon, you get too much saltiness. The spice hits at the end. The tako karaage were a little too chewy for us. Beef tongue was so tender. A definite must order. I dont think it needs rice though. We also ordered the late night nikumiso but it didn't come with an egg, which the menu said it should. We tried handful more items but we'll be back to try the oxtail items, as it sounds like that's their specialties, but takes extra time to prepare.

Hadn't been to Basalt in many years. Had ocassion to revisit when a friend of mine, who read my…read moreprevious review, wanted to experience. So we came. And boy were we both blown away (so much so that I believe she returned the next day with others!). The menu had been completely revamped and seemed to take on a more local influence while still being very upscale. Since we both enjoy "sampling" we shared two appetizer and a main. Everything was bursting with flavor! This is what we had: Starter salad from the seasonal menu of watermelon, strawberries, blueberries and greens served on a bed of yuzu infused goat cheese and drizzled with a shiso chimmichuri sauce. Yes, bursting with flavor! I would return for just this dish! Next shared was a tempura battered cauliflower served with a robust curry and yogurt reduction. Deeeelicious. I wouldn't say we licked the plate... but I won't deny it. Hahah. Finally shared the seafood in curry soup (think a lighter version of laksa) served with white rice on the side. Holy moly. No words to describe. Portions were generous enough to share still next time, I won't. That memorable you won't want to share. No longer serving volcano black rolls, tho absolutely serving amazingly wonderful dishes. Volcano black pancakes still available at breakfast. We kept on oooing and ahhhing and asking about the chef. Our servers Gale and Lily, who provided the most awesome service told us "Chef Lance" (as he is affectionately called) moved over from the Mariposa (Restaurant in Neiman Marcus) over a year ago. Further research revealed Chef Lance Kosaka has brought experience from noteworthy restaurants: Top of Waikiki, Merriman's, 53 By the Sea, and most recently Mariposa. I am hoping he will bring in a notable creme brulee that I loved at both the Top as well as Mariposa! Not wanting the deliciousness of Chef Steve's cooking to end, I also ordered a warabi salad to go for the next day. It was...just as wonderful as the other dishes we enjoyed. Thank you to Servers Gale and Lily, Chef Steve, actually...the entire staff who elevated a casual evening of dining to be a most memorable experience! Thank you to sister friend Karen who insisted we dine here, for the most wonderful company and meal. Validated parking in the building accessed on Seaside. Validated for either 2 or 3 hours depending on the promotion. Kamaaina discount of 10 percent given. Will we be back? Absolutely. And I won't wait so long this time to return!

And my sandwich was amazing: the garlic chicken hoagie, topped with macaroni salad. My only nit to pick is that, while the fries were tasty, I wish I could have had a larger portion of the salad as my side dish. The chicken was great, but the macaroni salad was incredible. I scraped it off to eat separately. The plate also came with a little dish of sweet pickles, which complemented the rich chicken and mac salad nicely. The attached market is also a little more posh than the thousands of ABC stores, so take a spin through after you eat. There's also a coffee stand and a flatbread place, but the pièce de résistance of this marketplace is definitely Basalt.

There are a few tables,…read morebut the beauty of this place is that you're not paying for the ambiance, you're paying for delicious no frills prime rib, and if you're lucky, lobster tail too! We ordered the prime rib & 3 lobster tails special for $69.99 and fed three people (one is a smallish person). We ordered a back-up plate lunch with the smoked ham steaks that we barely touched, because we were so full. Most prices are under $30, and they have a great breakfast menu as well. Even though it was a busy day, our food came out in just a few minutes. Glad this place is still around. Can't wait to go again next time I need a cheap protein boost!

It's a "hole in the wall" type ambiance. But when the quality is this good for the money, ambience takes a back seat. We went on a day that missed out on the best prime rib in the state. Those days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. And you best get there before closing cuz they run out fast! They also have the best pork chops I've ever eaten and those too run out early. We got there late on Wednesday and had the NY steak. It was a great size and tender cut with asparagus. It was excellent. We also had the chicken but was no longer crispy as we had takeout and didn't get to eat it until a couple of hours later but the flavor was good. Parking is street only so you best find a side street and park as it's busy. They deal in cash only! **** Most all plates come with a salad and rice.
