Tried Center Point BBQ in Hendersonville while we were in the Nashville area. I had the pork plate with baked beans and macaroni, and honestly, all three were just OK. The pork was decent, but nothing really stood out about it. The beans were OK and the macaroni was OK as well. I'd give the pork, beans, and macaroni about 3 stars each. The service was OK and the atmosphere was pretty decent. It has that old-school, laid-back BBQ restaurant feel, which I liked. Went here on a weekday and wasn't too busy. When we in we were politely greeted with dine in or out. We chose to dine in. Food was good and plentiful portions. I ordered fried green tomatoes and a papas plate special which was alot of food. Sweet tea came in a route 44 Sonic size cup. Music was playing but it was quiet enough to chat while waiting for food. A lot of famous people have frequented centerpoint bbq and their pics are adorned on the walls along with autographs. Drove by this local BBQ restaurant for some time and wanted to try it and finally did. Unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. The place is quaint reminds me of Cracker Barrel where it has antique knick knacks. I was greeted at the door by a friendly staff. I went in not knowing what to order or what they had. I went with the family value meal #1 which is a 1lb of meat and 2 pint sides($37-if pulled pork); went with brisket (surcharge of $10! Which they didn't tell me until I got to the register) and their turnip greens and vinegar coleslaw as sides. The brisket was dry and didn't have much flavor but the sides were good. Overall not bad. The setting is a cozy classic country BBQ spot with nice staff. Tried two meat plate with 2 sides, of Sliced Brisket and pulled pork, fried Okra and turnip greens which was almost $30. The brisket was a tad dry, but not tough, and good flavor with a char edge. The pulled pork strangely did not have flavor, but was tender. Their mild sauce is a perfect vinegar BBQ sauce that was the saving grace for the pork. The fried okra was a big portion for the side (which I think cost extra), and the pieces are pretty heavy breading, but not soggy. The turnip greens had a slight sweetness to them, and were really soupy which is not my thing. There was a white sauce that came with the meal, which wasn't white BBQ, and seemed like a gravy of sorts that I've never had before. Tasted ok with the corn cake! Excellent BBQ. Center Point's BBQ is tender, not greasy and mildly smoked. I have sampled the pulled pork, ribs and turkey. All beyond excellent. The meat reminds me more of perfectly cooked pork roast rather than overly smoked greasy BBQ. Subtle works with BBQ. They make their own sauces, though in the watery side are very tasty. Watery means less foreign chemicals and starches. The restaurant itself is a clean 'dive' style restaurant. The staff is friendly and warm. I was treated more like a friend than a diner. read more

There are old school joints that have been around forever cause they're simple and awesome and this is not one of them. A lack of options in Hendersonville drives people to praise mediocrity and this is another example. Not the worst BBQ we've had, but for southern BBQ, this was below average at best. The brisket was dry and weirdly the fat wasn't properly rendered, the ribs were tough and over cooked. We ordered mac and cheese and they came back and said they were out, so we got the white beans and some sort of weird pancake called cornbread. The beans were the best part of the meal, the "cornbread" dry and flat tasting. The sauces were also good, vinegar based and spicy both good and they did have a thicker sauce also good. There was not an ounce of passion or love in their meats, this made me sad for this place. That's what's missing in most places today, making sure people can taste the passion fashioned into their craft. Maybe we'll have better luck in Nashville. Not holding our breath though. read more

Unfortunately the buns they use arent good, they don't grill the bun so the meat just soaked into the bread. Without sauce you taste literally nothing from the pork and for being "pulled" it had a lot of h huge pieces. The bbq sauce was good but I just couldlnt finish the sandwich. It was well priced and the baked beans were super good. the meat was bland but not completely dry, you really have to rely on the bbq sauces for flavor. (Just a PSA that the mild and sweeter bbq sauces still have a nice little kick to them) my biggest complaint is the cornbread pancakes, mine was so dry it was crumbling and there was hardly flavor to it, definitely not the best one I have had in TN. It is only indoor seating and no shaded parking for those wondering about that. We had takeout the first time we came (we were babysitting a toddler, no way was I going to eat in) so we got one of the family meals and the ribs were fantastic. I ordered a brisket plate, with their sweet and sour coleslaw and BBQ baked beans. The beans were amazing, cause I am not a huge baked bean fan and I nearly licked my plate clean. The slaw was a nice change from the regular slaw, but it's not for everyone. It's more of a rice vinegar type flavor, definitely sweet and tangy. The brisket was tender and tasty. The tables at Centerpoint come with 6 different sauces, so I tried them all. Thank goodness for the sweet tea, cause some of then were HOT. I make pickled eggs, so I had to try theirs. It was ok, nothing special. The other new thing for me was the cornbread. It's served like a pancake. I can't say that I liked it, as the shape allows it to dry out quickly. I ordered a brisket meal online. I ordered Mac n Cheese (I had to pay extra for it) and slaw for my sides. They called to say they were out of brisket so would sub a bigger portion of pulled pork!! Then when I got home, there was no slaw OR Mac n cheese, just 2 sides of beans!! So my meal was pulled pork as I did not want their beans. Sooooo disappointing and very expensive for what I received. Without too much investigation, and starving. We mapped to this establishment. We were greeted with friendly staff, that offered a joke and hospitality. We moved into the dining room in the back since the front was full. To our surprise we saw a poster of Guy Fieri. We had no idea that this place had been on his show. We went on a Saturday for lunch and went back on Sunday before we left town....YUM!! We tried the BBQ pork (minced, which would be chopped in Memphis), smoked chicken breast, smoked hot dog, tomato red slaw, sweet/vinegar yellow slaw, french fries, baked beans, pickled egg, all the sauces, AND the smoked, glazed ham. OMG! Everything was awesome, except maybe the pickled egg. The chicken beast was a skin less, boneless chicken breast that was smoked with dynamite flavor. The pork was delicious; moist, yet airy and NOT wet or slimy. The slaw and beans were great, BUT what stole the show....HAM. It was freaking fantastic! It was sliced thin, tender, and almost melted in your mouth with seasoning that coated your mouth with yumminess! I'm not sure what all the hype is about. I will preface this with I'm originally from St Louis where BBQ is taken pretty seriously and has some of the best BBQ joints in the country. So let's dive into the review: Our order was the beef brisket plate and a rack of ribs plate. Based on reviews and a feature in triple D I was expecting stellar BBQ. I was sorely disappointed. The brisket was mush and more like pot roast cooked in a crock pot than on a smoke pit. It had very little smoke flavor and absolutely no bark. The ribs were meaty and okay but missing smoky flavor. I did like that they were served wet with a little caramelized sauce on them. But the meat was a bit dry. The sides were hit and miss. BBQ beans and potato salad were really good but the corn on the cob and Mac & cheese were bland and unimpressive. They also serve something they call cornbread but they are more like cornmeal based Johnny cakes. Not bad but not cornbread. Service was friendly and fast. But for the money there is better BBQ out there. This is the type of local hole in the wall I typically love so I'm extremely disappointed. read more

My primary complaint about this barbecue restaurant is that it isn't closer to home. However, when I'm in Hendersonville if I don't eat in the restaurant, I'm usually bringing some home. Their pulled pork is very good. Their wings are outstanding. Potato salad and coleslaw are two of the best sides I've had anywhere. My only reason for giving them 4 stars vs 5, I'm not that crazy about their barbecue sauces. Maybe I'm not asking correctly, but haven't been able to come up with one I like. That's why I usually order to go and use my own sauce. Regardless, the food is so outstanding I can put up with a minor issue like barbecue sauce. read more

Wow , what a classic BBQ find! In Nashville , a city littered with BBQ joints, this one really stands out! This old place , with tons of autographed photos of country music legends on the wall(including karate pics of Elvis) takes you right in with beyond polite service and no frills sit down and eat atmosphere! the sides were great (mac and cheese , baked beans , cornbread in pancake form) these ribs were by far the best I have had in a long time including around other legendary places in Nashville . Most baby back ribs have like half the mest these ones had on them , and i thunk its the way they cooked the bbq sauce on them that made them sticky and special! I was told to go there and try the brisket, it wasn't bad but it didn't blow me away. the only thing that stops this place from 5 stars is that no matter what the , the bbq sauce at the table was vinegary and runny! The sauce that cane out in the ribs was thick and tasted way better . it may be the same sauce, but it was cooked so it was thick , or maybe its just different . Sooooo good! We stopped in a rainy night on our Tennessee adventure. We were warmly greeted. The young man that served us was attentive and friendly. We had the fried pickles to start. They were phenomenal! There is just the right amount of spices added to the batter to add to the flavor! They were perfectly cooked and not overly greasy. We had the brisket plate and and the ham plate. Our sides were the potato salad, slaw, baked beans, and Mac and cheese. They were very good!! The brisket was delicious but I loved the ham!! The cornbread flap cakes were good (I just wish they were a little warmer). We also had the brownie with ice cream. That was a nice ending to our meal. Service was attentive and very friendly. I kept seeing this spot and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. As an appetizer I tried the pork fires. I thought they were great and the portion was big. They can easily be a meal if you aren't sharing! For my meal I got the plate of minced pork with slaw and potato salad. The pork was really good, super tender. I tried all their BBQ sauces and loved the vinegar based ones. The slaw isn't or everyone, it's vinegar based. I liked it but couldn't eat to much of it. The service was good. We were attended by two waitresses and they were both really attentive. They kept our drinks topped off. If you are looking for good, authentic BBQ in the area... try this place out. I'm particular about BBQ. Being a Nashville native, I've had my fair share of some truly good BBQ. I definitely consider Center Point to be one of the best options in the Nashville area! It's never disappointed! I have eaten here plenty of times but a few days ago my family and I picked up some food to bring home. I ordered the pulled pork plate and was served a huge portion of meat! I loved how the pulled pork tastes here, too- it's not too fatty. Of all of their bbq sauces, the mild traditional is my favorite. But they also have plenty of others, like sweet ones and hot ones, and they make them all homemade. The fried okra here is good but honestly I'd pass on the Mac and cheese (it's just on the bland side). The green beans are tasty, too! I prefer a vinegar slaw and they have that here, as well as a creamy and spicy cole slaws. Oh and baked beans and white beans! Lots to choose from! My family also had brisket and they liked it! BEST HIGH I'VE EVER HAD! I have had this place twice now. 2nd time I came here after a long hard day at work, got a half rack of ribs, their slaw and beans and ate myself into a food coma by 8:45pm. Everything in the past stands. The difference is this review is based on new things. My girlfriend likes smoked bologna. So it was nearby, and I was leary but gave it a chance. Yes, it was good and has a tad of spice to it. The thing was we also tried the dirty dogs. Big fat smoked hot dogs with different toppings. They were some of the best hot dogs ever.
