The owner David is the real deal - a true honest, caring, hardworking person. I haven't yet hired him yet personally, but I bought a house where he had previously completed some work, and when I had an issue he was right there to follow up and resolve it - 5 years later! As a general contractor myself, I interface with many subcontractors, and I'm extremely impressed by David. I had the chance to peek at a current job in person and I liked what I saw - organization, tidiness, and clean quality paver and landscaping work. They've got style too. Last spring David and his team installed a wood fence, steel planter, new concrete driveway with grass strips, crushed granite patio, planting beds, plants and irrigation. Had David Dang and his crew out to put in a simple sideyard pathway. Not a glamorous job but something we needed done. They came in about middle on quote and did quick and clean work. I really like the aesthetic of the path and David helped us make the most of a neglected space. Would definitely use again and he got my wheels turning about some other projects. read more

We first contacted David in February to put in a patio, change out dangerous lava rock stairs and make a clean and usable space for our recycling toters as we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to get bids, finalize a design and have the work done in time to enjoy it this summer. He called us back while still on vacation, he asked some basics about the project and what our address was to determine how to schedule the site visit and he let us know that he was already booked through May and into June and would that still work for our timeline. We had viewed some of his work on his website and facebook page and thought he was worth the wait as we had already had a few other bids on the project and discussed design, but nothing looked like what we wanted as much as his work. He promptly scheduled a site visit upon his return from vacation, showed up when scheduled asked about our proposed use for the spaces and the basics of the design elements that we liked. We received our bid with the details of the design to be determined on site. At first that made me nervous as I had imagined a detailed drawing as part of the bid, but having never embarked on this type of project before, I really didn't know what to expect. They showed up to do the work per the contract, giving us a few days notice that they would start the following Monday promptly at 7:30 am. That day began with David once again walking through the site with us, going over the plan for the excavation and then starting the design details on site. We had originally planned on using 2 foot by 2 foot pavers with gravel or decomposed granite between and asked him where we could see the materials prior to committing to them. After going and looking, we decided that the pour in place concrete was more to our liking, was still in our budget and was possible given our site issues. The crew worked hard on the project and also make sure the site was tidy and safe for our dog at the end of the day. David kept in touch with us on an almost daily basis either via email or in person to discuss the evolution of the design and to deal with the inevitable surprises that showed up. He kept us informed in writing of any additional costs and gave us the option to decline. As he is an artist as well as a contractor, it was interesting to watch him finalize the design after spending time working in the space. He was a great communicator and answered our many questions throughout the process. Any concerns we might have had at the end of the day were quickly resolved once he showed up on site in the morning and talked us through the next steps. They did a really nice job on a very challenging set of stairs that they built snuggled between the foundation of the house and an existing rock wall. Just this morning we did our final walk through with David and he spent an extra hour giving us planting ideas for the multiple spaces that are adjacent to the project area to make it look even better. I have worked with David on a large landscape project and smaller ones. I was totally impressed with the quality of his work. He and his crew layed pavers as well as many plantings. He has done winter clean up and did a through work including raking the ground then spreading compost that is heated to a high temperature so seeds in it are killed. I noticed a marked decrease in the weeding I needed to do this year. He is very knowledgeable about plants and was able to suggest native plants for a garden that met my desire for the area. He is friendly and responsible, easy to work with and keeps appointments or is in timely communication of changes. Emailed to request an estimate, indicating I wanted the work done within the next month. Got an email right back asking me for my address and where I heard about them from. Provided this information, THEN they emailed back saying they were busy through June. Why did they ask me for my home address if they knew they weren't going to be able to do the work? This gave me the creeps. Won't be attempting to use them in the future. read more

We are very happy with our new backyard! David and his crew removed a deck, an old concrete patio (a surprise underneath the deck) and masses of bamboo, after which they created a beautiful backyard space with a paver patio, low stone wall and new plantings. The site presented many challenges and surprises, but David happily dealt with all of them. His crew was great all around and their clean up at job's end was very thorough. David and his crew have completed 2 projects for me: the conversion of a section of the driveway to a garden bed and the installation of a new patio to replace a deck. -Project #1: They demolished the driveway, created a new garden path with curved steel edging, and poured the mulch and gravel in less than 2 work days. Project #2: the deck demo took 3 hours. I changed my mind about the design at the last minute, and David helped me come up with an alternative plan. Love the outcome! So, I would give them high ratings on speed, care in their approach (my dwarf Japanese maples next to the patio are fine), creativity, and flexibility. I recently had Structure Landscapes NW install a patio at my home. I am thrilled with the end result! I had created the design myself and had a general idea of the type of material I wanted to use. David Dang, owner of Structure Landscapes NW, helped me select the perfect pavers based on my description of the look I wanted to accomplish. David was even able to fit me into his schedule between larger projects so that I wouldn't have to wait too long for my new outdoor play area. Structure Landscapes worked with me to fit the project into my designated budget which, being a relatively new homeowner was a relief! Along with the excellent quality of work, David and his crew were very communicative and courteous. I received regular updates via email and phone about the progress of the project. All of my existing plants were undamaged and they cleaned the area up before the project was complete. The crew members were very polite and as quiet as they could be. There is a generosity of spirit with this small local business as well -- with the extra concrete the crew poured me custom stepping stones which will definitely come in handy. David even offered me some free mature Agave plants that he came across, he had noticed that my garden has a "desert" bed. Once they started the project it took them about a week to complete it which was great! Now I can enjoy my new backyard patio on these random sunny spring days that we've been having.
