Service-We drove an hour and a half for a medical appointment. We paid for a pizza ahead of time so we didn't have to wait. I told the girl wih multicolored hair we would be back at 630pm after the appointment. She asked if that was it. I told her we'd get drinks when we came back to eat. I paid, went to the appointment and we came back. We were told it was their policy not to allow carryout orders to eat in the restaurant. When asked why, the rude server said it was their policy. This may be a first, but giving 5 stars and I didn't really care for the pizza. The service was great, speed was great, and the pizza was the type I like - the thin crust - and the crust was very good, good amount of toppings. But more of a personal preference, the sauce was way too sweet for my liking. Like one of the sweetest sauces I've ever had. Not gonna ding the restaurant for that, it's popular for a reason. More of a PSA for those who don't care for sweet sauce. I read the reviews first and saw some comments about it being "tangy". I guess you can call it tangy. Get the deep dish!!! I actually ate 4 pieces of their deep dish, it was amazing! We were at the wine bar next door (Xe54) and they let you bring in your pizza from Stuc's. The staff was friendly and the ambiance looks like not much but don't let that fool you. Everyone I asked had always ordered the thin, but I'm a Chicago style pizza fan and was thrilled to see the deep dish option. Unfortunately we had kind of a bad experience here. We called about 30 min before hand and waited another 40 minutes in the lobby. It didn't appear to be busy and the staff were hanging out and talking when we arrived.During our arrival they said our order was not ready and a few minutes later they started to make our order. The pizza was pretty good with generous toppings and came in kind of pricey at around $25.00 for a large pizza. I'm writing this during the time of the Wisconsin mask mandate and If you're concerned about staff wearing masks we did witness two folks out of uniform around the food and wandering thru out the kitchen while we were there. read more

The "Good Mood Food" was a slogan in a string of Arby's commercials a while back, but Appleton residents may recognize it better from the sign of a local pizza joint, specializing in Chicago-style deep dish. Now, the sing-songy phrase itself is vague and doesn't tell me anything about the food itself, but it DOES rhyme and sometimes that's enough to grab your attention. However, that's never enough to make me eat at Arby's. That's because -- if you know me -- I sincerely DON'T want "the meats." That's right, I'm your "friendly neighborhood" Valley Vegan and today we're talking STUC'S PIZZA. Stuc's has been in Appleton since I can remember yelling "cowabunga" and truly caring about pizza (their website says "over 20 years"). It's in a small, blink-and-you-miss-it building just on the periphery of downtown, by a string of businesses I also always blink and miss. I mean, do we really have that many bars in Appleton that we require a bar stool specialty store? I guess so. I'm no expert on the history, but I know Stuc's changed hands back in the early 2000's when the original owner retired to play more golf and a manager took the reins. In 2007, they expanded and a second location opened up in Neenah out by Holiday's Pub and Grill (think Fox Crossing area). And since then, I believe it's changed ownership once more. There's a reason it's lasted, though: It's deep dish is tough to beat -- even in Chicago. A lot of that comes down to three things: delicious sauce, quality ingredients and a perfect, crispy-yet-doughy crust. First off, the sauce is sweet, with a smooth consistency that melts into your tastebuds. If you get a calzone, then you get extra sauce for dipping, which, I must admit, I've eaten with a spoon. There's flavor to it and that's one of the reasons that it's remained one of my favorite pies since becoming vegan. A bad tomato sauce is obvious without salty, gooey cheese to mask it, but this sauce does not feel naked in any way when you remove the dairy. The ingredients are fresh, too, and they never skimp on the veggies (or meat, if you swing that way). For the veggie lover, I recommend their Veggie Supreme. For the meat eater, try the sausage, which they source from the local Haen Meat Market. Either way, there's always plenty to eat and it most definitely fills you up. Two slices of the deep dish and I'm done. (Regrettably, I've often gone for a third slice only to be bloated and ashamed.) My wife and I like their pizza so much, we had these guys deliver to our wedding -- as the main course. It saved on money and, seriously, who the heck doesn't like pizza? For the big event, we decided on their hand-tossed style, which is ergonomically less likely to drip red, stain-prone sauce on an expensive white dress. It's not as iconic as their deep dish, but it did the trick. Now, doing 40-some pizzas for a wedding was certainly not something Stuc's was used to, but they pulled it off, with only the smallest of hiccups (slightly late and their driver needed a couple extra hands). An addition, their general manager was easy to work with -- cheerful, almost enthusiastic to a fault, and really wanting to make our wedding a great experience. He works with companies often, delivering sizable lunches and such. However, he seemed especially interested in doing more large events, much like our wedding, and I think he was using it as a sort of trial. I might be biased, but I think it was a success. My biggest gripes with Stuc's have involved their somewhat rocky partnership with Holiday's Pub and Grill. The two businesses share a building and you can order and eat Stuc's inside of Holiday's, which is awesome if you want a beer and a giant projection TV whilst indulging on pizza. My wife and I used to walk to Holiday's quite often a couple years back, when we lived much closer and we loved the food and atmosphere. However, in those days, we were on the losing end of a string of kitchen screw ups that occurred due to reckless communication snafus between the two businesses. Sometimes it was one's fault, sometimes the other's. Once our pizza was given to a different customer. Another time, the toppings were wrong. It certainly could've been worse, and we did receive apologies and money off our bills, but it had happened enough to note in this review. Hopefully, this has gotten better. A couple other fun tidbits: -- Their calzones are two-meals huge, so you get your money's worth. I used to get them more often, but the toppings have the propensity to clump together (i.e.: onions pushed to one side). -- They have more than pizza. There's salads, pasta and sandwiches, too, but I like their pizza too much to have ever tried anything else. Their bakery items, I'm told, are all hand crafted by a little old lady. This may be fake news, but they taste like they're made by someone who cares. Sadly, not vegan. -- Stuc's also has a gluten-free crust available on request. read more

Best pizza in town! I am a big fan of their sauce. Lunch - They offer a few Express Menu options. They have calzones that are ready to go upon your arrival. They are very large and taste fantastic. They also offer a slice for $4. The slice is very large and bakes quickly. The Neenah location is small (strip mall store front) while the Appleton location is a much larger restaurant with a larger menu. The Neenah location is great for take-out. Fast, friendly service. Their desserts at both locations are fabulous! read more

So. I have eaten at Stucs multiple times. They make a decent calzone. However, a calzone by definition has both ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. Stucs does NOT have ricotta. I asked why, out of curiosity and was told that it is "just the way we do it, plus ricotta is an expensive cheese." The veggies are fresh. The dough for the calzone is bland at best (think flour and water.... no salt. No character). The sauce is good. The best part about Stucs is that the veggies are fresh. If you're looking for a NY style pizza this is not your place. I prefer Sals downtown. If you're looking for a ton of fresh veggies folded up with some good sauce----try Stucs. Was quoted on the phone 20-25 mins for pick up. Calzone took 33 mins from the phone call to being placed in the box. Overall a good place to grab a pizza/zone, but there are better options around for sure (Glass Nickel and Sals closer to downtown). Stucs is average. Cool thing about Stucs is if you're at Holidays, next door you can order their pizza off their menu at the bar. read more

My friends and I ordered takeout from the Neenah location last night for our girls night in. Normally I do not write reviews but felt compelled as all of us were not impressed- especially for the price. We ordered a large hand tossed pepperoni sausage pizza. The crust was very bland and the rest of the pizza was nothing special. The total for our pizza was almost $25.00 for one large pizza - which amounted to around $3 a slice (8 slices). We thought this was way over-priced for the quality that we received. I've had much better pizza for a much more reasonable price (Glass Nickle, Sals, etc.). To add, we had to wait an extra ten minutes over our quoted time to pick up the pizza. This wasn't the end of the world but is to be noted. Sadly we will not be back or recommending to friends. I wish I could write a higher star review - We really wanted to like this place! Maybe the other location is better or we just had a fluke pizza? read more

Refused to make us pizza! Long time Stucs customer, and we tried to order the same pizza that we have been getting for years. I need half no cheese due to lactose intolerance, but do not care (and realize) that cheese will seep over on the other half. Usually, once this is explained they make the pizza and we enjoy it. We are not entering any legal agreement that the pizza will not contain cheese, and I will not die if I accidentally eat a tiny bit. Today they refused to only put cheese on half of the pizza. Baffling that they are incapable of not applying cheese to the full pizza. What physical or mental disabilities prevent them from doing so? We may never know. The pizza is great. I ordered a large spinach calzone and a tomato chicken salad. Let me preface this review by saying I am a truck driver, and plan my routes that hopefully get me close to authentic, local and delicious food. Aka...no fast food. This was not the case here. To be more specific, Stucs was a happy coincidence. The salad was...amazing. Often times a salad is a large bed of lettuce with a paltry serving of the heartier vegetables and proteins. Not here. Im a stout man, yet this salad had to weigh a good 1.5 lbs. And it was delicious. The calzone was very good...Although in the future I'd add broccoli to give it some texture. Great flavor and crust though, and you can tell the mozzarella is of a finer quality. Huge stretch factor and not too salty...good indications of a good product. I've been lucky to travel this country....and this is a top 20 pizza joint in my book! **addendum. I dont know if it's made in house, but their tomato basil vinegarette is freakin outstanding. read more

This is quite possibly the best pizza in the Fox Valley. A few years ago my friend and I went on a quest to find the best pizza around. At the time, Stuc's was in the top 3. Over the years the quality has not changed, while others have not kept up. Their hand-tossed crust is just the right thickness and holds up well under any amount of toppings. My favorite is the spinach pizza, which is a house mix of spinach, cheese, and spice. I usually add sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts with extra cheese. The one thing that does lack is the amount of cheese. Even when you ask for extra cheese, it's not super cheesy. Their salads are also good, and the house tomato basil vinaigrette is excellent. They also have a couple of great house made desserts, such as the Carmelita. It's a very casual place, the one in Neenah does not have alcohol, and they don't deliver. Call ahead for dine in or take out. It's not speedy, but worth the wait. read more

When I ordered Stucs Special Calzone the manager came out and told us it would be a little longer because they just ran out. He was extremely friendly.
