Worst haircut of my life, and it cost $65. Had it been worth $65, then there wouldn't be a problem.

My first time at this salon, booked with Cris, for a haircut and perm. I came with pictures to give her an idea of what I was thinking. A lovely young girl took me back to shampoo, massage my scalp, and with feet up and massage chair on, I was in heaven. Cris came in to introduce herself, and I showed her my picture and mentioned that I would probably need a perm because my hair is very straight. She left me and came back to tell me one of the "technicians" would be doing the perm. I didn't like it but was not given a choice. Cris cut my hair, then rewashed my hair to remove the conditioner, and a young boy showed up with the perm rods cart. Cris assisted for a while, handing him the end papers, so I wondered why she was not wrapping it. She left to eat and he continued. It was obvious to me that he did not know what he was doing by the way he was parting off my hair, and loosely rolling the rods. I told him that in all my life I had never seen one wrapped like that. Cris showed up and saw how loose they were and started re-rolling them tighter. He applied the solution and covered them with a bag, set the timer, and left. When the timer went off he was back, escorted me to the shampoo bowl and proceeded to rinse my hair, well half my hair. I told him the right side was still burning, so he wasn't done. Once I was satisfied that it was rinsed, he blotted it, put neutralizer on, set the timer and was gone. When he came back he removed the rods and shampooed my hair again, probably undoing what we just spent an hour doing. In conversation I learned that he is the owners nephew and she is training him. He put some product in my hair and proceeded to dry with a diffuser. Omg, it's awful, so all I wanted to do was get out of there. I bought a product and my bill was like I'd had a top notch stylist. I could have fainted. Had Cris done all the work, it would have set better with me, but to pay premium prices for an intern to give me the worst perm of my life - NO. Like I said, I wanted out of there, so I paid it and left. Never again! So glad I have a hat wardrobe. Now over a month later and my hair continues to get frizzier and straighter even though I use the best products on it and no hot appliances. I hate it. I wanted something close to wash and wear hair and this could not be further from that. Save your money, and don't go to this shop full of arrogant overpriced prima donnas. read more

Best hair cut by Merly! Cannot brag about her enough! I love my hair and I am very particular about my style and care when it comes to my stylist. Being a military spouse, I've tried to find a stylist in each of my home base but none have ever done close. Even in San Diego, I thought I was sure to find someone.. But after having tried multiple "best reviewed" salons, I was still not satisfied. I fly cross country just to visit Merly! Fun and professional staff here! Apparently, there two Studio 98 establishments on Highway 98 and in two different counties. One in West Pensacola and another out in Navarre, two TOTALLY different owners. Yelpers, do not get confused! This one here in Pensacola has been here for almost 18 years, the other is fairly new. I drive by this place everyday going to work but I didn't actually try it until my husband was looking for a place to get his haircut at the last minute. I called them and they had an opening that didn't require an hour wait from when we first walked in everyone was smiles and so nice! Great salon. Don't let the outside fool you, because the inside has a nice layout, the stylists and workers are all professionals, and they use top spa/salon products. I see Jamie for facials/waxing and Kerrie for hair. The girls make it fun to come to the salon, and really make a point to get to know their clients. Definitely recommend! read more

This was my first time going to this location. It's a beauty salon as well. I found a living social deal for $30 that included gel mani and regular polish pedi. This salon is very nice, not geared toward AA hair but still nice. The nail area is off to the other side. It has 2 stations for pedi and mani. Everything was nice and clean. My nail tech stated she had only been doing nails for a little over a year and it showed. I was there from 1:30 to 4:30 and that's too long. She seemed very timid. She was very thorough though when it came to buffing my nails and getting the cuticles but she just needed to be more efficient in her time management. My toenails were ok but not Mya fingernails. She didn't get all of my original polish off some nails. Some of the nails had little bubbles. Some nails didn't have complete polish coverage or looked streaky. I didn't have time to have them fixed. Overall i liked the colors just wished they had of been done a little better. She was nice though. read more

I went there and found a girl that did my eyebrows perfect . She did mine and my befriends . Unfortunately this was a short lived experience because she then didn't show up for the next two appts I made. One occasion I sat there for 30 minutes before they told me they didn't know where she was. I called constantly and she's never there. I also noticed that many African American women must not come there often. Every time I walked in the stares I'd get made me very uncomfortable. I'd never go back again. I drive past this place everyday and decided since we were going on a family vacation to try it. When I first walked in I had just gotten out of work so I was in half my work clothes and my hair was a mess and I had my son with me, and I received looks from the people who worked there that made me feel uncomfortable. I was almost about to walk out at that moment but I decided to stick it out since I was a paying customer as well. Let me tell you that was a huge mistake. When it was finally my turn I was very specific with what I wanted, I wanted my hair cut about 1/4 an inch above my shoulders, layers, and my bangs sideswept starting at the top of my lip. When she cut my hair not once was I asked how I liked the length cut or anything. When she was done she didn't show me a mirror or anything and just took the "cape" off and sent me on my way. My hair was most definitely not 1/4 an inch above my shoulders, no layers, and my bangs were not sidestept. I ended up having to cut my bangs at home again and every time I look at my hair I want to cry. It's at least an inch or more above my shoulders, not even wet is it where I wanted it. Then the real kicker to this situation is when I went to pay instead of $35 for my cut they "accidentally" charged me $117 and then ran my card again for the correct amount! They said it depends on my bank when I will get that $117 back. I called my bank and they're saying it depends on them and can take up to 15 days. Furious is an understatement to how I feel. If you're a regular, soccer mom, militarily wife, or a friend of a regular then by all means go here. But if you're a regular working mom, or anyone else, avoid at all costs and go somewhere that will listen and appreciate you. read more

I just moved to the Pensacola area. I'm very particular about my hair and am always hesitant to go to a new salon. I was extremely satisfied from the moment I called. The owner took time to speak with me and answered all my concerns before I even booked the appointment. She fit me in on a moments notice and even though my appointment was the last one of the day I didn't feel rushed or a bother to them. Haircut turned out great and I can't wait to go back for my color!! I was impressed with the cleanliness and the over all vibe of the salon. Also, in my life I've never experienced such a wonderful shampoo with massaging chairs and all. The young man who washed my hair gets a thumbs up from me.
