I pass by here a bit and it's never too crowded considering there are only eight pumps and the corner this popular Shell station sits on is on a triangular corner just across from the shopping center off Venture Blvd for Trader Joe's, Sephora, Mendocino Farms and several other shops and businesses. Great place for small gas station market items including lottery tickets and/or scratchers. The also sale large bags of ice here and cold beverages. read more

This is by far the worst gas station. The woman who is usually there is as lazy as a bag of rice. Full of attitude and the word customer service does not exist in her vocabulary. Don't go there! I made the mistake of returning the next morning and now the same lady was there. The story changed. Now she told me she didn't have the key the previous day and today her arm is injured and if I wanted propane I would have to fill the tanks myself. I told her that I wouldn't touch the equipment and she refused to fill up the tanks. She asked another friend of hers who started to attempted to fill the tanks, but had never done this before. This is such a liability. The worst gas station. I only went back because the owner is pleasant, but his employees are the worst. read more

I came in to get air in my tire because it was on the verge of being completely flat. When I drove up to the full service where it is located, an older Indian man asked if I needed gas. I told him repeatedly it's an electric car and it doesn't need gas, but this was Beyond his comprehension. He rudely refused to let me use the air pump and told me it would be a $15 charge to use it. Recently got an oil change at this location. Fast and efficient, plus very friendly staff. Only three stars because of the price. The location advertises oil changes at $29.99 and I was very surprised to be charged more than $100 for my oil change. To be fair, I did get synthetic oil, and I didn't inquire about the price beforehand, but I was still a little shocked to be charged triple their advertised rates. read more

Okay, so I used to just take my WRX to the dealer or to a Subaru specialist but a few years ago I started to take it to John and Victor at Studio City Shell and I have been amazing at the great job they always do. John is an incredibly nice guy who is a totally honest mechanic. I brought my car in last week thinking that I blew a head gasket (at $2800 job on a Subaru) but it turned out to be just that I needed a new hose. So honest. Best of all if it were a head gasket problem I know I could trust John to work on my WRX as his repairs in the past have always been top notch and carried out quickly. Victor is cool too. Great mechanic and cool guys. I've come to a point where I only would take my car to John and Victor. The station is nice and clean. The only downside is they don't have the cheapest gas but I understand Studio City Ventura Blvd. rent can be high so what can you do? read more

Total disappointment!!! I went in for a smog check and was assured it would be done within 35 minutes as I was in a time crunch. I even asked the man to call me if for some reason it couldn't be done. When I returned 35 minutes later, it wasn't even started. I try not to be harsh to businesses becos i know how hard it can be dealing with the public but this is the worst gas station on earth. Every time I go here i feel cheated and maltreated. You walk in and not even a hello, eye contact, acknowledgement, nothing.. just grunts and really lousy treatment. The last time I pulled up here for gas wasn't a good experience. The pump I had pulled up to was out of order. They could at least put a sign up so I didn't have to go to all the trouble of getting out of my car, opening the gas tank, inserting my credit card etc.,etc, etc... only to find out that I have to move to another pump... TWICE! Good location, but a pretty small gas station that seems crowded whenever I drive by. Not to mention the prices here are hiked up! I would not go here anymore because I while I had no problems with using a credit card, since I started going inside to use cash, there have been issues. There is an Indian/Sri Lankan around my age who is the cashier that doesn't know how to count! The first time I got my change, it was 2 pennies short, but I was already on my way out so I figured it was only a few pennies. But it's happened a few times now. Recently I called him out on it and he gave me a dirty look. This time it was 15 cents. I showed him the change he gave me and he finally gave me my correct amount. What I'm thinking is this guy is either a moron or a crook. Either way, I don't like him. If he's pulling this kind of hustle off of hundreds of customers a day, he is pulling in an extra 2 dollars cash - tax free. As an unclassified government employee, I'm thinking of talking to my superiors about this. I have a 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville in Mint Condition and I need my gas tank drained to get fresh gas. I called other repair shops, but nobody could do it. I then called John at this Shell Station that I always go to remembering that they do mechanical work. He was very busy and said call me tomorrow morning, I'm sure I can get you in. I did, and he said come in now. So at 9:00 a.m. I drove over and he had my car up and draining my fuel within 10 minutes. At the cost was a reasonable $60.00. He was working on a 1964 Cadillac Eldorado next to me and I met that owner and he said his entire car has been re-built there and he raved about John and the rest of the mechanics. These guys have done excellent auto repair work for me for many years. They've worked on my used Ford van, used Mercedes, and used Honda civic--always quickly. Of course there have been occasional problems--there always are when fixing old cars--but they've subsequently addressed every issue and ultimately fixed it. Took my Lexus in for the second time for a diagnosis and repair. I had oil changes and minor repairs to my PT Cruiser and all went well with John....My mistake is that they are not up to high tech cars. I asked if they were sure that they could do the work."of course"! They claimed to do a diagnosis but the printer was broken so no read out. Changed my gas cap for the wrong generic one and changed a breather vacuum tube. $280.00 later the light is still on "so bring it In" for the 3rd time...Back to the dealership...no more business for Studio City Shell cheat auto repair. I've been using the local mechanics, Victor, at Studio City shell for repairs involving my vehicle. I have found that he does great work, whether mechanical, tires, oil changes, etc. They generally do not upsell or overcharge you over here on the mechanical work end of the spectrum. The gasoline prices are ridiculously overpriced, however. I would recommend using Studio City shell for repair work, however. I am much happier going here then to the local Mercedes or Chrysler dealers. I trust the shop and mechanics to do the right job, do it properly, and not overcharge me. They stand behind their work, Are willing to test drive the car with you, etc., all courtesies often lacking at the dealership. read more

This morning my daughter was in a bad fender bender off of laurel canyon. Not really knowing a mechanic to call or to tow to I decided to call studio shell. John and Victor came to our rescue. He took my daughter's car in immediately, called me back within a half hour after accessing the issue and gave me the most honest and fair quote. I was so relieved and grateful. We had it fixed and out the door by 2pm. This was the best service and experience I have ever had with any mechanic. I am forever loyal to John and Victor. They are my mechanics now. These guys just did a major tune-up (including replacing worn 36 year old wires), electrical repair, new gasline filters, brakeline repair and new brakes for my 1978 Rolls Royce. They did a great job, were really knowledgeable, very fast, and had very fair prices. They used official Rolls Royce parts and official Rolls Royce brake fluid. My Rolls hasn't run this well for 20 years. Great Job. read more
