However, my last appointment was disappointing for 2 reasons: 1. At my 3rd visit, Shun advised that I needed a trim, either at that visit or at the next visit. In my experience trims are about $15 and I usually get a trim every six weeks so I said go ahead and do it. Shun charged me $95 for a trim, the same price I paid when I got a style cut at my first visit 3 months ago. When I questioned this, I was told that a trim is a cut and a cut is a trim, they take the same length of time and expertise and that other stylists are unprofessional (I'm not sure why this last point was brought up). She even pulled up something on Google to prove her point, despite my 30+ years of customer experience to the contrary. 2. I specifically asked for my hair to be left longer in the front. I have a picture from a month ago showing my hair touching my collarbone; now it only reaches my chin, so the trim apparently went awry. Because my hair was curly when I left the shop I didn't realize this until I washed and styled my hair today. This revelation prompted me to write this review. I just checked another equally rated stylist's prices, who has tons more Yelp reviews than Corps D'Lite, and she charges $10 for a trim and $35-50 for a cut. My last stylist charged less than half of what Shun charges for the exact same 3 services; the only reason I stopped going to her is that I wanted to lighten my hair and she recommended I go to a colorist. So because I think it ridiculous to pay almost $100 for a trim every 6 weeks, as well as treating me like I'm clueless on what I should be charged for a trim, I won't be back.

Therefore, I will give her 1 star for this review. Unfortunately, Shun fails in many other areas of professional styling. She arrived 15 minutes late for my appointment. She took too long to style my hair, because she was busy making recommendations (upselling) additional services. Thus, I was 30 minutes late to a wedding after my appointment. When I booked the appointment, I told Shun I had a wedding 2 hours after our appointment. She said our appointment would only take an hour. Our appointment took almost 2 hours. Worst of all, the Corps d'Elite prices are absolutely, undeniably absurd. She charged me $95 to trim my ends. (I did not get a fancy hair cut; I got a simple blunt trim without layers.) In addition, she charged me $75 for a wash, dry, and flat iron. When I booked my appointment, I was told I would be charged $55 for the style and just a little more for the trim. Since the prices were so high, I called to ask if I was erroneously overcharged. Shun said I was charged the right amount and she didn't even apologize for the confusion. Instead, she insisted that I actually was getting a good deal, because she is a "professionally trained stylist who could charge hundreds more." She then offered to send me her resume, so that I can verify her qualifications. What kind of unprofessional response is that? Where are her customer service skills? I really want to support Shun, because she is local small business owner. However, I simply cannot support anyone who nonchalantly overcharges me for a basic service. Although her years of experience are impressive, she clearly needs to learn more about customer service and pricing. I will not return. I recommend you avoid this establishment, as well.

Our stylist was Sophia and she was finishing up with a client. A few minutes later, we were greeted by the stylist and lead upstairs. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She made my daughter's first haircut memorable and she loves the finished product. The process was amazing but it was a bit pricey. My daughter was expecting to pay $270 for Color/FlatIron as advertised on their website and was charged $415, with no warning for the upcharge. According to DC Law Code § 28-3904, it is an unlawful business practice to mislead customers about costs or fail to disclose total material costs prior to rendering services. See my update below: Note: Eden's response does not address the issue. The main issue that I raised in my review is Eden's "bait-and-switch" practices. Background: My daughter is a bright, hardworking, 19-year-old pre-med student at UW. She is an extremely polite and responsible young lady, who looks forward to getting her hair done the week before returning to school. This summer she saved money to get her hair colored. She specifically chose Eden Salon because of the $275 package advertised on their website for a Color/Blow-Dry/Flatiron. On 8/20/26 my daughter arrived on time for her 12n-2p appt. Following the service she goes to the register to pay and her card is declined. The woman at the register (not her stylist) informed her that her total service cost is $415. My daughter explained that she assumed it would be $275, as posted on their website. And that she only had $300 on her card. While standing at the register my daughter calls me. She informed me that her card was declined at the salon and asked if I could drive over to pay. I could tell by her voice that she was upset and embarrassed. It was 6pm, despite being exhausted, I immediately headed out the door for the 30min drive to the salon. Upon my arrival I was informed that it would be a $415 charge to my card. I was shocked! Not wanting to embarrass my daughter any further, I paid. On our ride home my daughter, still visibly upset about $275 to $415 price increase, shared the following: She stated that the stylist never mentioned additional costs; and that her 2-hour hair color appt., turned into a 5-hour ordeal because the stylist (Jasmine) appeared to lack knowledge on how to color her hair. Sidebar: In Eden's response, written by the owner, she claims that my daughter "chose to proceed" with the extra service and that the additional service fees were necessary. This is a gross misrepresentation of the truth. First, claiming that the additional services fees were "necessary"... My response-- If additional services were performed/or necessary, it was due to the stylist's lack of experience coloring hair, as evident by the 5-hrs that she (Jasmine) took applying and reapplying hair color to my daughter's hair multiple times. Yes, 5hrs and she had no other customers at that time. An experienced stylist could have completed this hair coloring process in half the time. Second, the owner claimed that my daughter "chose to proceed" with the extra services... My response-- This makes no sense, no one in their right mind would choose to proceed or agree to a price that is deliberately withheld and hidden. This is not the place for a fancy hair style this is a true Dominican hair salon. All stylists ensure healthy hair. I always make it a rule not to get my hair done anywhere where the stylists hair is not as fabulous as they guarantee to make mine. Everyone's hair is always on point and extremely healthy! Over the years I've seen theses stylist many of which have been here for the decade I've been going change their hair multiple times. So clearly I mentioned a bunch of pros above including this is located in the heart of Adams Morgan near the many shops and dinning. What better way than to get your hair done, feel brand new, and show off your hair and or treat yourself to a drink at the many nearby bars. Cons - this is not directly by a metro station. The closets stations are DuPont Circle, it's a little of a walk from the south entrance or about a 10 minute walk or so from the Columbia Heights train stop. Both trains have bus that will stop you a few feet from the entrance. There's also a Woodley park circulator too.
