Avoid at all costs if you care about customer service and welcoming owners!! Internet was too slow in our room so we asked to change rooms, had to go down to the lobby 3 times, and each and every single time the desk agent kept sending us back and telling us to try again, the router was just too far from us!! Second day, the cable doesn't work either... I tell the same guy early in the morning that we won't be back til late and that we would appreciate it if he could fix it. I also left a note for the housekeeper in case he forgot. The note was still here when we got back, unlike the one I left the day before with a tip. No more tips for anyone here, and definitely not coming back again. No internet, No TV, and a smoking room when we asked for a non one? I would add that I never experienced such a bad human contact from anyone. No "Hello", "Goodbye" or any smile for that matter. They actually seem annoyed to deal with customers. This is a shame! Certainly not a top 5 star hotel, but it was worth the price. I was originally gonna book a standard room for our 6 night stay at the Knotts Berry Farm Hotel but found this place online & was able to get a 2 Queen size bed suite for a much cheaper price. Pictures from the website were a tad bit exaggerated in my personal opinion. Room was very spacious, but I sure wish they had thicker blankets since it was cold throughout the day and night. Other than the pillows, the parking sucked. It's pretty narrow, and I'm so thankful I rented a Camry instead of the original Sedona I was gonna go with. The guy that runs the front desk at night has an attitude and it was difficult to understand him with his accent. One other thing that really bothered me was the fact that I was woken up the day before I was supposed to check out by one of the housekeeping employees. She asked me if I spoke Spanish, I told her no & she still proceeded to speak to me in Spanish, then told me to call the front desk. So I did. He claimed that I was supposed to check out that day, but I was certain I booked it for the full 6 nights. I double checked with my email, and was confirmed that my thoughts were right. Front desk later called me saying that I was right (duh) & the guy that checked us in only charged me for 5 nights. So I had to wake up sooner than I thought just to pay for one more night. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay, and hardly gonna be in the room, this is the place to go. Just remember that you get what you pay for. read more

I had been looking forward to staying at this motel after seeing fairly good customer reviews. But I am disappointed to say that our stay at the Studio Inn and Suites was not a pleasant one due to the uncleanliness and rude hotel workers. After we checked in, we found black (maybe pet) hairs all over the bed, sheets and pillow cases, a cigarette burn and other stains on the sheets. We had to change rooms once already after they gave us a smoking room when we had requested a non-smoking room, so we decided to just request new sheets and stay in the 2nd room instead of switching rooms again, since it was already late at night and we were tired, and figured we'd settle it in the morning without a problem. In the morning, we also noticed that the bathtub was also not cleaned very well, leaving behind dark dirt stains. There was also still an open pack of shampoo remaining from the previous guest that had not been discarded. When we approached the hotel staff in the morning, and told them about the hair on the sheets and the unclean bathroom, they just simply said that they would give us a new room as if it was no big deal. They did not apologize or offer any compensation. They said that they have the sheets washed by an outside company so it wasn't their fault that there was hair on the bed. When we requested some compensation or a discount off our stay for the poor experience, they said that we should've told them immediately in the middle of the night instead of waiting until the morning, and only offered $10 off our stay, and argued with us that it was our fault for not informing them right away. We requested to speak to a hotel manager or supervisor and they refused to let us speak to them on the phone or give us their phone number. We felt extremely disrespected and cancelled our 2nd night's stay and left immediately. They also would not give us any number to call to speak to their supervisor and told us that the manager would call us in the next few days. We still have not heard back from their manager to this day. Please avoid this overpriced and unclean hotel with poor customer service. read more

I am shocked that this hotel would have a 3-4 star rating from Tripadvisor, yelp and other sites! My friends and I were in town for a convention, most of the hotels in the area were booked and we decided to book a room at this hotel based on the reviews. When we arrived at the hotel, we were shocked at the condition. The room was FILTHY! yellow stains, hairs and what looked like food crumbs all over the sheets. Carpet extremely dirty and bathroom had not been cleaned. Lest just say that someone forgot to flush before we got there. I contacted the front desk about 2:15am and explained the condition of the room, the men who was in charge did not understand why I was having a problem with the condition of the room, he said that he could give me "some clean sheets" and that would take care of it all. Unfortunately, all the hotels around the area were booked so we had no choice but to stay there the rest of the night. at 5:00am, there was so much noise, loud people, sound of a vacuum cleaning, and something that sounded like a loud frog, it was a horrible experience all around. Booked was originally booked for 2 nights, I paid for the 1st night but asked for a refund for the remaining days as I was not gonna stay there the remaining time. Person at the front door finally agreed to give me a refund and said it would post to my bank account asap. This was on Friday, it is sunday now and no refund has been processed. I called location and was told that manager would call me back. Nothing has been done. Please, save yourselves a headache and book elsewhere! read more

This place is trashy. Not only were the sheets stained and had holes in them but there was disgusting people who work there. In the morning me and boyfriend were showering and there was a loud knock at the door. Two workers knocked at 10:30 am and to describe them so you know whom I am speaking of they were both black and one was heavy set and the other was thin. They attempted to forcibly enter the room and falsely accused us of having 20 people in our room which is really not even possible and absurd. The workers had three of their wanna be thug friends there who tried to intimidate us. Try. It's very insane that this business would allow this to go on. Those two workers really should be fired for having their wanna be thug friends hanging around all day and who knows who else they have done this to. I can't believe their corporate offices are running this kind of business. Their corporate really needs to clean up and hire professional individuals. The approach was really off and unprofessional. We have a phone they could have used to call if we were loud and a door to knock on at the time if we were loud. If we supposedly had a "party" why not address us at the time the noise was supposedly being made? Most hotels have security for those reasons. Also that was absolutely false I honestly think they may have had us confused with the people across from us who had like about 10 people walking in their room. This was the most Disgusting stay I have ever had And I honestly want to be refunded my money. Lastly, we even let them check the room prior to us leaving and they saw there was clearly no mess or any type of damage. At that point I was finally able to get ready so we could leave at checkout time. What's funny is that when we mentioned "yelp" they tried to change up and state there would be no extra fees but this has to be reported. The bed sheets were so thin and had several cigarette burns all over, as well as on the dresser. i was disgusted that i found hair on the sheets, the carpet was so worn down and bathroom so small. Never again!!! The hotel looks decent on the outside but omg the inside is a different story. Let's start at the front desk, the older man who works there is very difficult to understand. We were checking in and he was asking us something but I honest couldn't figure out what he was saying, it became that awkward moment when you've already said "what?" Like 3 times and then you just have to nod like you understood what they said. We get to the room and it reeks of cigarettes. In this day in age when we have so much information about second hand smoke and even the lingering of that smoke and its effects, I can't believe hotels allow guest to smoke indoors, so ghetto. The ac wasn't all that great, luckily it wasn't that hot. Oh and the power button on the remote didn't work, WTF!!! The final straw that made me not want to ever ever ever come back to this place and on top of that leave a negative review on yelp was.... I found a short and cut hair on the towels, yes a short and curly. I had just gotten there so obviously it was not from us so either the towel was not washed properly or just wasn't washed. Also the walls looked dirty, it wouldn't hurt to have them wiped every now and then. If you have to stay in the area I would recommend the days inn, it looks a little rough on the outside but the inside is spotless. Studio inn, eww, never again. This place needs help or just doesn't care. First off, there is no "studio" as per what the name says. The studio was torn down and is now just a huge empty lot behind the hotel. Secondly, there is a very large hospital with helicopter traffic thru-out the night about a block from this hotel. The neighborhood is rough, so if a stray bullet comes thru a window, you still have a chance. Rooms are about a 2 out of 5. Bathrooms are almost unusable if you are over 6 feet tall. The sink and mirror are outside of the bathroom. Not a problem if you are by yourself, but pretty low class if you are with anyone else. The pool looks like they pumped in water from the LA sewer system. Totally disgusting. Even decorated with a floating band-aide. The maids do not speak English. If you speak Spanish, you are just fine.. but if you have question to ask or a request, it will be a bit difficult if you do not speak Spanish. The manager that was on duty during my two night stay was very rude and looked as if he had ANY place better to be. The guests range from quiet old couples, to younger crowds to a hooker having a gang affair in the room above me. I would not recommend this place if you have small children. Or any children. My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Studio Inn and Suites. The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms were contemporary, large and well layed out. The King Bed was extremely comfortable. We discovered a gem of a museum across the street: The Columbia Memorial Space Museum and admission was a mere $5. I left the charger to my electronic cigarette in the room and didn't realize my inadvertence until I was home in San Leandro. When I contacted the gentleman at the desk, he said that he would personally fed ex it to me even though it wasn't the company's policy. I received it back within 4 days. I would highly recommend this establishment to people who travelers needing accomodations in the Downey area. read more

They stole my iPhone head set while I was staying here for a week. Yeah I forgot them in the bed and they stated they couldn't find them. I was expecting them to be put on the side after my training class. They weren't. They left me with out wash cloths a few other times and my last day he keep say I'll be there and the jerk never came and made me late to training. I'll never stay here again I'm sure going to let my work know to never use this place again. I'm glad I didn't pay but still not happy. The breakfast was nothing compare to other hotels. Stuff they get is cheap so the tease is very awful. Plus they did nothing about my missing head set. This isn't my first time I stay in a hotel and I've never gotten jacked for my head set else where. This place offered the best value for a week in Downey. Paid under $700 for 8 nights for two guests. Every morning there was complementary breakfast available (bagels, toast, muffins, fruit, coffee and juice). Hotel manager was helpful and friendly. Housekeeping staff were very kind, but inconsistent with their work. Somedays they would try to clean early, somedays later. But they wouldn't accept a request to clean at a later hour. The pool is nice for a quick dip, but too small if you're looking to exercise with laps. Bottom line, central LA and Hollywood can be expensive to lodge for a week. I saved so much money staying in Downey and their probably isn't a better place around than Studio Inn & Suites. read more

I used to stay here after I moved far outta the city..I would have overnights due to a run in with third stage liver disease and practically living at Kaiser.. studio once again saved my butt at ten pm stranded For two days.. I'll write you the most honest review I can about this hotel. To begin, it's in Downey. But you already knew that. Downey is a small suburb of L.A. and it's not exactly close to the sites many people head to L.A. to see. If you have a car, or are renting one, good. Understand that and you'll be OK. As for my stay, it was top class. The room was exactly like the pictures portray on the website. I reserved a non-smoking, king size room and it was excellent. The bed was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean and provided me a nice, refreshing shower. They have these toilets that do that power-flush thing - it's like jet engine. Really awesome. The bathroom products they provide aren't the best, but I don't know why you'd expect high-end shampoo and conditioner at a hotel. There's plenty of lighting, a personal A/C and heater next to the window. A table and chairs for sitting and .. idk.. doing crossword puzzles? Eating pizza at 3am? Whatever you want. The service at the desk is swift and courteous. They went out of their way to make sure my stay was top flight. Including a continental breakfast available until 10am,.. or maybe it was 11am. I saw zero bugs - which, to me, is a major deal. The only two negatives I found about this hotel were the towels in the bathroom, and the pillows. I've stayed around the country in different hotels, and have never found any towels to be very soft, but these seemed to be a bit harder than usual. Granted, they still did the job, but I would have preferred a softer towel. And the pillows were nice and soft, I just felt like three wasn't enough for a king size bed. Maybe I'm just being picky on those two things, but if those are the only negatives, then I'd say you are in for a great stay. The renovated room was pretty nice. Very big and comfy bed, with nice cable channels. The outside doesn't look too pretty at the moment, due to construction, but don't let that fool you. I needed a room to stay in for my girlfriend and I because we had a family funeral in town and i found this hotel which seemed pretty decent . To turn the shower on jus pull the nozzle for the bath out while you turn the water on (it was kinda difficult for my girl to figure it out ) , the room was not bad and the red wall made it stand out . The service here was great , i left a large sum of money in the room ( $1900) and a $2500 diamond braclet as well , we were half way home to san diego when i realized it went back and to my surprise the clerk had everything and had put it aside for me , WOW ! of course very stupid on my part to leave those things but hey i had so much on my mind bcuz of the funeral , anyway i couldn't believe my things weren't stolen , i would definately recommend this hotel simply because of the service ! read more

If you are not from the area the first thing you need to know is that the "Studio" which the motel has been named for no longer exists. It was demolished and now has a large empty lot behind the hotel. It is also located next to a large hospital, which is great if someone sneaks into your room and stabs you at night. The managers were either somewhat nice, or very rude. The hotel has a pool which is a disgusting attempt at a pool, but when it is over 100 degrees you don't care. My friend and I were in the pool at 6:00 PM when the manager barked at us and told us the pool was closed for the day. At 7:30 PM about 15 people were swimming away and having a blast, nothing was mentioned to them. The rooms were small, the bathrooms were tiny. The fellow guests are either nice older couples or a bunch of guys and a girl having loud "activities" in the next room. You might also witness a drug deal, hear a shooting from a nearby neighborhood and of course watch at night when when the police helicopters do their rounds. I normally stay at chain hotels like the Hampton Inn, but I wanted to try something new. I'd never come here again and I wouldn't even send someone I didn't like here. But if it is your only option then please make sure you keep your door locked at night. read more
