Came here to watch the Incredibles 2 with a group of friends on a Saturday evening. This is not our usual theater, and we came because it offered a screening that best fit our schedule. Seats are selected with ticketing, which we were pretty happy about because we could ensure good seats for popular or busy movies. However, the air conditioning was either broken or completely off throughout the establishment. This was bearable in the more open lobby, but extremely uncomfortable in our small theater. It was a sold-out showing, and the air quickly became muggy and much too warm. The hot food that people ordered smelled good but also added to the humidity. My friends and I ended up desperately fanning ourselves with our menus the entire time we were there. The movie was cute but I wouldn't return due to the slow roast that we endured to watch it. read more

The food here is not the greatest but the staff is always nice. I loved the Groupon for $6 movie. They always have the Groupon. Why don't you just lower your prices and get rid of the Groupon? I like this Studio Movie Grill is better than the one in Brookhaven because there is no table light for your food. That light is so annoying when you're trying to watch the movie. I had low expectations due to the lower reviews from friends and online, but I am happy to say that my experience here was great! My husband and I came for a matinee show and were impressed by how modern and somewhat upscale the inside was. I think we were expecting the same cheesy carpet and wall colors that you'd find at a typical movie theater chain and were surprised by the modern, dark finishes and intimate lighting in the bar area and lobby. I grabbed a drink at the bar and our bartender was nice and accommodating. At the bar I mentioned how chilly it was by the vent in the ceiling and that I might move to another seat/table top. The bartender went and turned down the A/C so it was more comfortable and so I didn't have to move. My wine while I waited was a great start to our movie experience! The theaters are huge! We selected seats towards the back of the room where we'd normally sit, but since the rows went so far back, we decided that next time we could pick seats closer to the middle and still be at the sweet spot we're used to. Our server was very friendly and polite which was another nice touch. To put it into perspective, we have been to an AMC Dine in theater and our server seemed bored and not friendly. The service here was much better and seemed to be quick too. We ordered the pretzel bites and popcorn, so to be fair, we haven't eaten their "real food" or any entrees so I couldn't tell you how this place is in that department. I really had a nice experience here. I've been to two other "dine-in" style movie theaters and this one was probably the best in terms of experience and value. The interior is swanky and modern which is a nice step up from the typical, colorful decor and style of other movie theater chains. I was surprised at how big the theaters were. I felt like there were easily 10 - 12 more rows of seats than a regular movie theater. We didn't order entrees but tried the pretzel bites and a medium popcorn. The popcorn is much more affordable at this theater. Our medium was $5 while other movie theater chains offer $7 for a small popcorn. I would definitely come here again. Bad restaurant, even worse movie theater. For starters, I ordered my meal and then went to use the restroom, which was absolutely DISGUSTING. I opened 4 different stalls, all of which had nasty, clogged toilets, that had obviously not been cleaned in a long time. This made me regret ordering food, hoping I wouldn't be the next victim ... Food ended up being okay, on par with a chain restaurant. The theater itself smelled old and musty. The movie screen seemed small to me, but the main problem was that there was an annoying rattling sound anytime there was a loud part of the movie. Service was pretty good and the drinks from the bar were good. If you go here, I would suggest staying away from the food and sticking to drinks. We frequent this theater often, almost always with a Groupon ($5-6). It's great to have an assigned seat which is $1.50 extra online in advance. They serve standard American fare (burgers, pizza, chicken tenders, ribs: $9.25-$14.50). The food is good, not great. The fries are sometimes hot sometimes not. The service is hit or miss also, really all over the place. And expectedly it gets worse on weekends and when busy. Sometimes you can wait 20 minutes for silverware or a drink. And some of the seats are not in the best shape after 5 years, cracked and wobbly. Just an ok place for dinner and a movie, but it works. read more

The tickets can usually be bought cheaper on Tuesdays for $5 or by using the Groupon which makes it a pretty nice place to watch movies. However, should you go to order food the experience can be a bit more disappointing. Since this theater is the closest to my home, I go there all the time. I used to order food there as well since I think it tastes great, but the service makes it frustrating to say the least. Multiple times the order never arrives, something is missing or comes very late in the movie. It's difficult to get the attention of servers and ultimately I give up, forget the food and just tell them when they hand us the receipt to take it off my bill since I never got it. Now, this is not always the case but it has happened so often that I no longer bother with ordering food or drinks. read more

The bar in the lobby is THE ONLY reason I'm giving 3 stars. The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and made pretty decent drinks. Unfortunately I had to pee after a couple drinks; that's where my visit went to hell in a handbasket. The bathroom was littered with paper towels. The area in front of the toilet was wet and had wet toilet paper stuck to the ground. There was soap (Yay!) But no paper towels in the paper towel machine. Once our theater was ready (we were in theater 2) we went in. We were immediately assaulted by the stench of only God knows what... It wasn't the kind of stench that goes away once you sit in it for a while. Just when you think it's dissipated another waft punches you in the sinus cavity. We ordered wings and burgers a small bottle of water and a coke. The burgers were served with French fries. The fries were really good (hard to mess fries up) the burgers were below average. The wings aren't even worth mentioning. The movie, for 2 people, was $26 and change. Our bar tab was $25 The bill for our food was $60 and absolutely NOT worth it!!!! read more

My 1st visit here. I always pay attention to how clean theaters are an all. It was clean, no stray popcorn on the floor or dirty counter. Our chairs and area were clean. The only time I come here is on Tuesdays when they have there $5 movie special. You can beat $5 for a movie anywhere. This place could use some changes, especially with food. The last 4 times I came here they have either messed up my order or the food tasted horrible. If you are getting Chip with salsa or queso expect the chips to be super salty. The service is even worse. It takes at least 15 minutes for someone to realize that you pressed that damn red button. This is probably the worst movie theater experience of my life. I went to watch Us @ 9:15 last night, and about halfway through the movie the screen blacks out & the audio continued. It stayed black for a good 5 mins the first time, so they rewinded it to a spot and we all were relieved & were okay with that. The movie plays for a couple mins, then the movie blacks out at least 3 more times. I had to sit there and watch a couple scenes 3 times over and over. The whole theatre was frustrated, and left. Some received a refund & something that looked like a gift card, while others went to a different theatre to watch it FROM THE BEGINNING. We didn't leave the theatre until almost 1 in the morning. I was a part of that group, and I don't think any of us got the gift card for this inconvenience. This visit was super unpleasant. read more

OMG, it has a bar, hot food cook to order and a huge place to lounge at to watch the game before the movie starts. So we got there early and deiced to hang out in the area where this huge projector T.V. was and watch the game and have a few drinks... it was so nice and cozy sitting there with our drinks enjoying all that was around us. We it was time for our movie it was beyond clean in the theater and the seats are leather and huge. You can order from there full menu with all food cooked to order and a full bar menu. Cons' there waiter got our order wrong and it was a lot of talking back and forth with him and my date, that i was not able to get the last 5 mins of the movie in.... read more

I came in yesterday around 3:30pm and ordered the Caribbean hurricane which is normally a strong drink. I even paid $2 for the extra Malibu shot. $16.35 was my total for a fruit drink with no alcohol. I should of returned it but she never brought me water like I asked and I was thirsty and sick of waiting. I'm a light weight and can't normally finish my drinks but I drank the whole thing and not even the slightest buzz. It's really disturbing because I can buy whole bottle of rum almost for that price. I used to love this place. But the past few times have just been aweful. The past three showings me and my husband saw, the food was late. I'm not talking a few minutes..they waited until the movie was almost over to bring our food. The biggest issue though, is there are so many cosmetics issues. These range from torn/broken seats to loose wires in front of the screen. The waiters/waitress are very kind though. I just think it might have bad management. Edit: tried this place again to see if the theater was better with the new renovations. No!! In fact, things were worse. If I could give zero stars I would. Since I've been here last, they have made EVERYTHING more expensive. And now, the food is more expensive, and it's Smaller portions. And be careful ordering the 2 for $28 special. This place sucks. It suffers from idiotic systems, poor customer service, and lack of practical solutions for common errors. I hope the owner of this location reads this review and implements the changes I'm going to recommend. You're welcome in advance. The waiting room is the best part about this theater. The bar tenders are nice, and the atmosphere is cool. And I do appreciate that they announce when your movie is being seated. But I caution you, if you make it this far, stay at the bar and don't buy a ticket and suffer the rest of the experience. Problem #1: Finding your seat is extremely difficult. My wife and I couldn't figure out where the numbers were. Luckily, I can count to ten and remembered our row from the diagram. It wasn't until we were seated that I finally found the numbers on the lip of the seat tray, which were printed with a handheld labeler. Solution: Print large seat numbers on the top of the tray tables or embroider them onto the seat backs. Problem #2: You have to press a red button on your tray to alert the staff you want to order. This is absurd. You have to wait for someone to see your light, shimmy over to you and take your order. And this happens throughout the entire film. The point of movie theaters is for the audience to immerse themselves in the experience. You detract from that when people are constantly scooting through the aisles and talking. Solution #2: Create an app, or use a self ordering system at each seat. This may be something the actual higher ups have to implement and make, but using a red light with an army of "servers" is very archaic. It negatively impacts the moviegoing experience and has to be expensive with all that overhead. Especially since the quality of people is low... Problem #3: The service is so awful it's funny. I wish I was exaggerating. Our server in quick, rapid monotone, introduced herself, offered a scripted appetizer, and took our order, while never once looking up from her cell phone. Not once did she look us in the eye or smile. It was so weird I couldn't contain my laughter. Solution #3: Train your staff better... or get rid of them and implement solution #2. Problem #4: Food falls off the trays. The poor guy beside me watched in horror as his full cup of water slid off his tray and into my lap. There's a few variables that cause and add to the risk of this problem. The main error is the tray tables are slick and offer ZERO friction or grip on the plates. Additionally, the trays are slanted slightly towards you. Meaning once an item gets moving, its picks up momentum. Add in a disconnected and uncaring staff blundering down the aisles to respond to a red light, and you have a recipe for disaster. Solution #4: Put a rubbery surface on top of the tray tables to increase friction, and use better common sense with your people (again, see solution #2). Problem #5: No bussing. A server never cleared our trays. So on top of problem #4, after you finish, you can't push back your tray and relax. You must sit there and make sure your dishes don't fall on you when the servers bump past as they respond to another red light. Solution #5: Train you staff to clear off tray tables, or have bins underneath the seats that the customers can use to stowaway their dirty dishes. I will never go back. read more

My family and I loved going to SMG until recently it has been a Friday night tradition for us. we've seen all the new movies here the food use to be a lot more appetizing. We have gone a few times now the food has been terrible! I have brought this up to staff and they just apologized and kept it moving. They did not offer to replace the food when it was cold or hard as a rock. They did not offer to make it better, just said we can't do anything about it. Today we went to see the new movie and we ordered food and noticed the prices have been nearly double! Their price of the horrible food was ridiculous. A Simple kids meals is $10. Movie and Dinner? Why would I go out to do this when I can do this at home? Because their food is well worth the price and the seamless process of getting a seat and getting to sit with one's entire party! I was here this past weekend with my husband and my family. We were able to secure tickets online and seamlessly were able to get a seat. Our waiter arrived within minutes of pushing the little red button on our tablet. The food was great! I had the ginger mint salad; my husband had the kale avocado salad, the rest of fmaily had burgers, chicken tenders, and of course dessert and coffee. And, they have Gevalia coffee! This is my favorite brand of coffee because of its smoothness and robust flavor - - and they serve it here! It's not cheap Community coffee! All in all, a great night was had! We do hope to return soon the next time we're in Gwinnett county. read more

I HATE that I have to give this place any stars. My girlfriends and I decided to catch an early viewing of Girls Trip and thought it would be good to step outside of our normal movie and popcorn and try Studio Movie Grill. The Duluth location is more than 30 miles from my home but they had the best selection of seats. So we meet for the 10:15 and we're seated immediately since I bought my tickets in advance. The fact that a waitress didn't come to us until the movie started should have prepared me for the shenanigans. My girlfriend and I decided to order the 2 for $25 and promptly placed the food and drink order. It took roughly 10 minutes to get my vodka and her ice water. Maybe another 10 minutes to get an Arnold Palmer. We waited patiently while food and drinks came out for other people in our group. FINALLY the appetizer came. Granted it was 30 plus minutes but I still had hope. We enjoyed our 1/2 order of chicken nachos and got deeper into the movie. I then notified a member of the staff that we hadn't received our entrees and was told our food was coming. Meanwhile people around us are placing and receiving their orders. After another delivery nearby and still not receiving our entrees we notified another member of the staff that our food still hadn't arrived and was again told our food would be right out. We waited some more and tried to enjoy the movie but at this point it's getting harder because we are hungry. My next interaction with the wait staff was a waitress bringing me my check! And to add insult to injury the check had the charges on it for the food I never received. I tell the waitress we still haven't received our food and she says she's sorry but the kitchen is closed. So now I'm irritated and I ask for a manager. She leaves and comes back with a new check saying the manager took the food off. Not wanting to ruin every one else's movie experience I decided to wait and speak to a manager myself. I try to continue to enjoy the movie but I'm starving but still giving it a try. The movie ends and the manager is nearby along with Tiffany, the waitress that took our order. Now here is where they completely failed. I tell Charles the manager about our experience and his response was "another manager removed the food from your bill." Not I'm sorry or I apologize. No empathy, no concern, not a care in the world. He didn't attempt to make an excuse for our notifying 2 staff members and still not receiving our food. Needless to say I WILL NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES return to Studio Movie Grill. The service, in addition to not getting any food ruined my movie experience. The nonchalant attitude of Charles sealed the deal. We went on a Thursday and had a less than half full theatre. Came here for a one time showing of an anime I like. So not sure if they just put us in some rinky-dink theater or if it's the norm. Getting tickets and staff were all nice. Seats are ... not good. They are positioned like they should be school desks and you're about to take a class vs. watching a movie. Some of the seat's faux leather has degraded and cracked so they pinch your legs if you're wearing shorts or maybe a dress. Also, just uncomfortable. The non-carpeted floor was amusingly sticky and the call button for the waiter/waitress is in a terrible place. It sits right on top of the table to the left. I don't know how many times we accidentally called our waiter while just trying to get seated. Thankfully, he was super cool and joked around with us a lot/didn't get mad for making us make him walk out to us so much. Food wise--- average as expected. About the same you'd get at Dave and Buster's. Overpriced, and not worth it, but sufficient enough. If I had the option, I would not go to a movie grill, but the showing was a one time thing so I'm happy enough to get to see it. Has a pretty large private lot, so no worries on parking. read more

I havn't seen my family in over a year and going to see this Jurassic movie was supposed to be awesome. My little cousin got chicken tenders. She got her stuff about 15 min after ordering, then my sister and dad got their burgers about 10 minutes after the chicken. So the sauce is one thing...everyone ordered 2 types of Sauces when ordering and got 1 when it came so we had to have the servers go get the other sauce, which is a hassle cause we asked in advance..then I press my button after 45 minutes to say "hey don't forget my sauce since that's a trend here. and btw I'm still waiting while everyone around me eats so please check on my food I'm hungry it's been an hour" Fast forward and skipping other servers who came and left with no help. My sister gets the manager and 20 minutes later I get my burger...they forgot the sauce too. I have a to go box and we weren't charged but WOW. 5 servers interacted with me about my stuff...several others ignored me. Manager said ahe told someone to bring my sauce... she ended up doing it herself. FIRE SOMEONE the team is not functioning to get the job done. Arrived early to order. Nachos came out improperly prepared Smart alec waiter with attitude. Watit, or something like that. Prices for food are high. Movie screen is basic and bland. Theater was clean. Seats were decently comfortable. The waiters walking back and forth in front if screen ruins the movie experience. It disconnects you from the movie. They give you your check in the dark and expect you to sign it blindly. Had to leave theater, during movie, twice. Once for a bill clarification. A second time to see the bill and sign receipt check. Employees interrupted me 4 times, not bringing food and drinks but adjusting bill for improperly fixed food. Different checks. We need to close out.... don't work the late shift if you want to leave before the movie is over. I had to go outside the theater to sign checks and then he has two pens that neither write. Horrible experience. Would have given 1 star but at least it was clean and the seats were comfortable. read more

I have been a regular here since this place opened, great prices to watch movies and seats are okay most of the time (until you get one that's loose, wobbles, and creaks the whole movie). You'll have servers walk past you throughout the movie to reach guests for ordering and delivering food. Usually servers will try to duck underneath you so they can minimize interruptions, but some servers do not seem to care and walk upright which obstructs and interrupts your experience watching a movie. Good luck with dining here on opening nights for major box office movies, which ultimately ruins this place for me since that's usually when I go to the movies. I went to see Star Wars a couple of weeks ago, pressed the red service button within 10 minutes of the movie starting. Took someone 20 minutes to show up. Ordered water and pizza. Waited an entire hour just for water, which I wasn't sure if I was even going to ever get because I had to ask a waiter TWICE where my water was in order to finally get it. I had to ask once I noticed my buddy next to me getting his drink within 15 minutes of ordering his, yet I had been waiting an hour. The pizza was another story, my friends ordered their food and got it within 30 minutes of ordering at the beginning. I, however, did not get my food until the final 10 minutes of the movie. Keep in mind, Star Wars Episode 8, is a two and a half hour movie, which I practically sat there hungry for 2 whole hours wondering where is my food while trying to enjoy the movie. Even the waiters seemed clueless where it was which I had to call for an additional 3 times to ask (I had one of the servers telling me "It should be out within the next couple of minutes" and that was an hour into the movie), and funny enough they handed me the check while I was STILL waiting on my food to come in. Pizza turned out to be cold, and they forgot my side of ranch. TL;DR: Don't order food on opening nights unless you're willing to take a chance at a horrible dining experience. I can understand if this place was having a rough night, but it always seems to be like this on opening weekends. Something needs to change. read more

So yesterday I took my God Daughter here to see Paw Patrol. We had a pretty good experience. The people at the front greeted her. They engaged with her because she would say please and thank you. They asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up. But one thing that bothered me a bit. When the food was on the way, I had pressed the button and she did to on her table because we ordered ahead of time and didn't know how things worked. When the waitress got there (mind you it was only two other families there), she actually said can you not press the button to my God Daughter. We are African-American. She said, there are a lot of people here today so it pings them to let them know to come and I explained we didn't know. She said that was fine. Then she goes to the other family, and apparently the kids (who were not as respectful) did the same thing. Her reaction was soooooo different. So much more tempered and reactive in a positive way. What I observed looked like an unconscious bias. Something she wasn't aware but was painfully obvious to me. I would highly recommend that they consider letting staff know even if you are understaffed to be aware of how you handle interactions. read more
