I of course went back to Dawna who squeezed me in on a Saturday afternoon as her last client... I point this out, as the salon closes at 4:00, and she was still taking care of me after the doors were locked. Besides 'squeezing me in' on a busy Saturday, I think she actually added me after her last client was already booked. Props for the amazing customer service! Being in the hospitality biz, I tend to notice these things... I went for an overall color (no highlights) of Jet Black. She did an awesome job. The color was perfect, warm, shiny... and I've seen so many attempts on jet Black and it ends up looking grey and ashy, or even purple-ish... Yeah, no thanks! She also gave me some kick-ass swoopy bangs *that's what I call 'em* and hooked me up with a much needed product to control my frizzie pieces. Like my day couldn't get any better, leaving the ATM after my appointment a very cute boi took the time to stop and tell me how he loved the *color* of my hair, he thought it was gorgeous... Thanks, Dawna!!

Also The 1 star goes for the cleanliness of the salon. I walked in with long hair, I had a pic and a specific length that we discussed and Julie seemed to know exactly what I was requesting. It was Nothing outrageous to say the least. She questioned me about my highlights and where I had them done as she flung a few pieces through her fingers. I thought that she was being nice. I didn't catch her sarcasm, unprofessionalism and rudeness until all was done and I was home. I also asked her to please not cut anything off of my bangs. She asked, "Oh, why? Because You cut them?" Shouldn't matter right? I thought to myself. So she had a good 6"to "HAVE AT IT & CHOP and still could have left me with that 3" of length that I still wanted. Strangely, as she did this, she repeated 5 x's **"Well, AT LEAST You'll STILL BE ABLE TO PUT IT IN A PONYTAIL!" AT LEAST?? No, I can't Julie!! She also lobbed my layers so short they don't go to the elastic, are too short to curl up naturally and She left huge holes throughout. Holes: disconnected abrupt short to long layers that don't blend or make sense. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Nor could I say anything other than "Please THAT"S ENOUGH OFF!" THEN.. OOOH SHE JUST COULDN'T HELP HERSELF!! She just grabbed a chunk from center of my bang area, no sectioning & no blending !! Just chopped 2.5" off !! Yes Julie I did! I had cut them, I was growing them out & they were fine! ( I had been a hairstylist for 12 years in a couple of salons before I became sick and unable to work. I would have never done this to someone and so I never expected this type of strange treatment. WHO AND WHY DOES SOMEONE DO THIS TO SOMEONE???!! At cash out for this $50 wash, cut & blow dry I gave her 3/$20's and asked her for 2/$5's back, She had the nerve to get sarcastic again and say..."Oh..Why? Cause you want one back?" UGH! This is not about getting my money back btw. I am happy to pay $100 to get what I want. I am also not a vain person, but for the last 3 weeks when I wash my hands and look into the mirror that I can feel my heart rate quicken and I shake! I have NEVER experienced a salon visit like this ! More than disappointing!

She seemed overly critical and had a weird attitude when making comments about the health of my hair. Almost condescending. She did provide snacks so that was nice. While I think she can do hair, my install was so tight to the point that I couldn't stand having it in. During the appointment, I cautioned her on braiding too tight and all she said was WOW YOU'RE SO TENDERHEADED. When really, she was applying too much tension. I brought it up to Monique (not even to get my money back) but to make her aware of what I was going through. She was defensive and didn't seem to really take the feedback. She also said I'd be given after care instructions and I never got those. I also noticed that she canceled my appointment on styleseat after it was over so I couldn't leave a review which I assume was because she knew she could've done better. She recently implemented pre consultations for all her appointments so it seems like this is a reoccurring theme for her. I've seen reviews from her other clients expressing similar issues. There is definitely potential but she really needs to work on how she deals with her clients and be more thorough/meticulous with her work.

She didn't braid tight at all. in fact I kept telling her this was the softest someone has ever braided my hair. She had snacks, drinks, great music and we had time to watch a show.
