I was really happy when they moved into Once Wild - everyone that I've interacted with has been super kind and helpful outside of my two stylists. There have been several times where the owner has come around to say hello during one of my services I love the Davines products they sell (I think this might be the only place in Tucson where you can buy it!) highly recommend the Oi all in one milk. My hair can speak for itself! I've had some of the healthiest and flattering haircuts and color since I started seeing Mae and McKenna. Experts. Honestly hair experts. I love them!

I brought pictures, described how I wanted it cut and the shape I was after. No one made sure I was understood. Young Sarah, sweetheart, told me she would dry cut it. I objected. She talked me into it and started cutting 4" long pieces out Willy nilly. After seeing the first section all frizzy, I tried to stop it but was talked back into it. Emma, the owner in the other chair, interrupted her own client's haircut to chew me out for asking for what I wanted, even telling me to cut my own hair if I didn't like it! Sarah, now embarrassed for me, assured me it would come out right. Although shape is better it's not what I wanted. I asked to keep all the length and let NG layers blended at the bottom--a no brainer. It's shorter overall by 2 inches, have frizz where there should be gentle layers, it's uneven--but I am okay with the cut. It's just not what I wanted or asked for. I will have to grow it out for months before it can be cut properly. Sarah actually can cut hair (her way) and did give me a somewhat workable cut that looks cute after I finesse it with heat tools- trying to hide that frizz and unevenness. But it was Emma who really made me feel bad. I cried walking out the door.

This is the second time this place has treated my elderly mother like crap, refusing service and wrongfully claiming she has lice. The first time I believed them and took her to the doctor and was told it was dandruff buildup. That was on her birthday and I was not going to be in town for long, we spent her birthday stressing and wasting our time. She didn't get to get her hair done. She doesn't drive anymore so me taking her was part of my visit. This time the same male stylist made the same wrongful claim. My mom by the way looked so sad. I let them know oh no don't worry it's dandruff buildup. Because she fell and broke her arm last week (she was still in her cast) so we are here so you can get a cut and a good wash. He said to go get a doctors note otherwise he would not service her. And no matter how much I explained the situation, he refused. Same male stylist both times. Either he doesn't know the difference between lice and dandruff, which he should then probably not be working at a hair salon. Or he's being discriminatory because he thinks my mother isn't as rich as the rest of their customers. Or he doesn't want to work on an older woman's hair. Either way I'd never go to this salon again, my mother will not be going, and I am telling everyone I know in Tucson if you're not rich and didn't just wash your hair that day avoid this place. Go some place with kind empathetic stylists who wouldn't treat an elderly woman like so awfully. Update: we had an another salon fit my mom in last moment the next day. I only had my hair trimmed during the appointment, yet I was charged the full $65 haircut fee in addition to my color. Ellie mentioned that I shouldn't worry about the $65 fee since we would only trim Every Other visit, but it still felt a little unfair to pay the full haircut price for just a trim. I do appreciate the quality of the color work and the stylist's skill, but I wish the pricing was clearer and more reflective of the actual service provided.
