I stopped in here during the cut-a-thon fundraiser. I am really happy with my professional haircut AND my money went to a good cause. You really can't ask for more than that. The staff are friendly and helpful. My hair is really thick and hard to cut too but my stylist did an excellent job of giving me the cut I asked for. It's really too bad the prices are a little out of my price range at the normal rate, otherwise, I'd probably go here again. I got lucky today! If you want to know how I ended up here read my other reviews. I needed to get my haircut today but I got turned away from a different salon. This was the next best place on Yelp, but it was listed as "By Appointment Only: Yes." I decided to try anyway. I walked in and it was packed! People in chairs, people waiting... PACKED! I waited for the lady at the front desk to finish up with her customer and then she asked me if she could help me. I said "I don't have an appointment, but I am hoping you can find something for me today." She said let me check, she picked up an ipad, checked her schedule and asked me to hold on a minute. She disappeared into the back and came back. She said how about 4:15 with Roxanne. I said yes and left. I came back at 4:15 and Roxanne gave me an excellent haircut. As it turned out Roxanne had a cancellation and I was the lucky one to get the spot. However, if they had turned me away I would not have been upset. I was expecting to need an appointment. But because they went out of their way to find a spot for me I am really impressed with them. Pretty simple really... excellent service and great haircut = 5 stars. read more

I went here the other day for a haircut/ trim and ended up seeing Kim. First of all, the salon is very cute and tucked in the Nob Hill shopping plaza in San Ramon near Coldstone. I went for a consultation and she was able to fit me in the same day, which was awesome considering she was jam packed. She did an awesome job and my hair looked and felt great. Better, she took the time to explain and teach as my hair type can be difficult. Blaine = Brilliant! I am new to the area and I was fearful of finding a new salon. I have long, super thick, unruly red hair. I came into the salon with my hair 2 days dirty and flat ironed, so poor Blaine didn't know what he was up against. He really listened to what I wanted. Even after drying my hair and admitting to being initially deceived by it (hello now crazy frizzy tigress), he was calm and whipped out the flat iron. When all was said and done my hair looked perfect! EXACTLY what I had hoped for. I highly recommend him and I am thrilled to have found my new stylist. read more

Jenna is a styling star. Probably like most people I have a fear of new hands with Scissors around my hair. But, this was probably the best decision I have ever made. In a last minute crunch I was booked with an appointment with Jenna. This is by far one of the best hair cuts I have ever gotten. Along with this Jenna is fun to talk with which makes it that much better. I'm not sure how, but she simply worked magic around the ever present "stick up in the back hairs". 110% sure that I will be going to her form now on. This is the first hair salon I have visited for a haircut. I used to go to Supercuts or Sport clips, but decided for $10 more I will get a professional to cut my hair. I visit and have a cut with Blaine. I explain what I want done and what he thinks and warn him about my "crazy" spots! He washed my hair, then went about cutting. When he was finished he asked me how it felt, perfected a few spots and then styled it for me. I asked him a recommendation for a hair product and he showed me what he just used. I paid for my expert cut and new product and am very happy. The great service does not stop here! A few months later Blaine is on vacation and I need a haircut. (I don't schedule ahead of time, I call the day of) I get scheduled with Jenna. I head in, explain what I need done and she takes care of it. Not only this, but this gal KNOWS baseball! I am a huge Giants fan, so not only do I get to get a hair cut from a very friendly and exciting gal, but we chat baseball the whole time! I now have 2 friends and professionals to cut my hair. Jen (Nations) Norsdall did a wonderful job on my daughter-in-law's hair for her wedding in October. Jen did not get an opportunity to meet my DIL before the day of the wedding because my DIL is not from California and flew in for the wedding. Jen was able to create the natural looking volume and curl my DIL wanted, who has long, straight thinner hair. I would highly recommend Jen. This review is specific to my stylist, Stacy Reed, and her talent. I've been trusting Stacy for years, and she continues to provide new looks vs getting stuck in a rut of the same ol' style and color. I love that I can very loosely describe what I'm looking for (or sometimes I don't say anything at all) and I'm always pleased with the result - both color and cut. I've had long hair, very short hair and everything in between. My hair is naturally curly, although sometimes I wear it straight, and she makes all styles work for both which is quite an art. Stacy's passion for her work comes through loud and clear, which I greatly appreciate. She is dedicated to her clients, enjoyable to chat with and genuinely wants everyone to walk away smiling. I work in San Ramon so it is easier for me to get my hair cut there. I see Abby - she is very creative and can cut short or long hair. It is hard to find hairdressers that really can take long hair and cut it into a great short style! Some of my worst haircuts have been short styles - that is NOT the case with Abby. When I started seeing her I had shoulder length blonde hair and my hairstyle right now is short, dark brown with pink highlights in the bangs. She took out the old ombre/bronze in my hair, trimmed my bangs-- yet kept them long, and colored my hair dark brown (perfect for fall!) This review is for Roxanne: After moving to San Ramon from San Jose I decided to try out Salon X. Keep in mind that I am extremely picky about my hair since it is hard to find someone who can work with dark hair and lighten it up without making it look like a fried orange color. I have been to Salon X twice. The first time I went to Blaine due to all the great reviews and loved my hair (color, highlights). The second time I called in hoping to get an appointment with him but he was booked so I decided to go with any stylist available because I urgently needed a color touch up and highlights. Roxanne was available so I thought I would give her a shot. I was a little worried at first thinking she was available because she wasn't good, but I was SO wrong. Roxanne is awesome and thought she did a better job than Blaine! I am definitely going back to her. Also, I tried to find reviews on yelp for Roxanne and found none. Turns out she moved from San Diego and it was only her third day at Salon X, so it made sense. If you want color and highlights done right go to Roxanne. You will not be disappointed. The only thing I didn't like was that she accidently started with hot water while she was rinsing my hair...ouch. But no one is perfect and she still deserves 5 stars. So Darcy has dyed my hair everything from platinum blonde to dark, blackish brown and given me every cut from a blunt bob above the shoulders to long layers down to my waist. Vivian is a wonderful aesthetician! She takes her time; I never feel rushed. She always does a fantastic job on my waxing. Toni has been cutting my hair for nearly 20 years. She also styles many of my men and women friends, all of whom love her. She even cuts the hair of my three children. You will not find a stylist with greater attention to detail than Toni. If you want a hair cut in five or ten minutes, go somewhere else, as Toni insists on a proper haircut or style every time. I'm told she also does an excellent job with hair coloring, blow drying, highlights, and she is an expert at gray blending for men. For Toni, styling and cutting hair is an art form.
