My wife is from Stuttgart and I thought it would be nice to bring her here since it is named Stuttgarden. I guess that's what should've been a red flag since it should be garten. We went on a Saturday night, so it was impossible to find street parking. We ended up parking at the paid lot across the street. The pork cracklins were probably the only good thing we had. It was a HUGE plate that would be enough to share for 3-4 adults. I had a bratwurst sampler with three original brats of Jagerwurst (mild), Smoked Gouda, and Hot Bratwurst. The server did not tell me which was which, but I assumed I could figure it out. I could tell the Smoked Gouda, but could not tell the difference with the other two. For $25, it was not worth it. To drink, I got a flight of beer, which was served in plastic disposable cups, like those you would see at a water fountain. My wife had the Jaeger pork schnitzel. There was hardly any schnitzel and a lot of onions. Also not really worth it for $16. Being a Saturday night, there was a live band playing outside, and it wasn't too loud. If I remember correctly, they were a Beatles cover band.
So, I have been to Stuttgarden previously on a busier day, and it was an enjoyable experience. However, there was not anyone behind the bar when I got there this time, which I assumed was because it was a Monday night. The a bartender was very friendly after she took my order though. The food however, was a bit lackluster. The cheese sticks were nice and crispy on the outside with high quality melted cheese on the inside. The sauces were a bit basic though. Marinara and ranch were both nothing special. The Braut Bites however, were not very flavorful at all. The texture was also too hard. And the mustard was far too tangy. I have had a few good things here previously, but these meals were not the best. Womp womp womp. FREY OUT!
Schnitzel was huge, so so on taste , crinkle fries were excellent, spicy chicken was great, beef stroganoff needed seasoning but it was plentiful, pretzel arrived cold but it was tasty, bratwurst was Not bratwurst but a long weird sausage, had to ask for more sauerkraut, bread was A Hawaiian roll !!! But tasted good and sweet
I was at this bar with a big group of college alumni. The third floor rooftop bar has a great view of the Strand. I loved that part. The closest bathroom was down on the second floor of the bar. I did not love that. They do have an elevator if you aren't up for the stairs. I don't like beer, so ordered cocktails instead. I do not recommend doing so. My Tom Collin's was watery and had a maraschino cherry in it. Weird. My gin and tonic was better, but still weak. My Old Fashioned had lots of small pieces of ice instead of one large cube, and a cheap maraschino cherry in it. It tasted okay, and the strength was decent. Our server was not attentive, and one time I had to repeat my drink order 3 times. For my final drink, he took my order, and while I was waiting, another person in our party went to the bar to get drinks and returned, and there was still no sign of my drink. The person went to the bar and asked for it for me. I would not go back here.
We were here on a Wednesday middle of the day. I bet this place can be busy as they are right across where the cruise ships load. Great bar, lots of great beers and had a super pretzel with a bacon quest dip. Friendly staff, lots of beer selections, historical and a old Munro level building. Will be back for beer and pretzels. Also a great view of the Battleship Texas in dry dock for repair.
June 25, 2022 Been here several times since it relocated not sure why I've never reviewed it before tonight but anyway, Me and a friend came tonight for a Mardi Gras meeting and had dinner after. This location is 3 floors, I've never been here when the first floor is open only the 2nd and top deck. We had a meeting and dinner on floor 2 and ate on the small deck they have on that level that faces the Strand. We ordered from the bar, Morgan T was our bartender (she was the only barkeep) the drinks were ok, key lime martini was not "key lime" don't bother, the Stuttgarden punch was tasty, but too sweet tasted no alcohol at all (both drinks $11 each) We ordered food from the bar as well, we got cheese sticks and a "hot" bratwurst sandwich w/onion rings. Cheese sticks came out quick and were huge; served with ranch. Huh? Marinara, people this isn't chicken wings?! They tasted good though. Huge. We waited 30 minutes for sausage, had to go ask Morgan about it... Somehow, she missed the entree verbiage and only entered the appetizer; we stood there and watched her enter it Soo...??? (they forgot it in the kitchen no doubt) Bratwurst was delicious, served with a side of...wait for it...ranch and spicy mustard that had horseradish in it. The brat wasn't "hot" as described . Served on toasted Hawaiian roll buns that were fresh and tasty but the onion rings were very thick. Too thick, I could hardly taste the onion. Even when this place was Fuddruckers, I didn't frequent it much, Stuttgarden is just the same. Great selection of craft beers, tasty sausage and you can bring dogs, maybe that's what keeps them open?! Not enough for me to go back unless invited.

This place is pretty massive being three stories with a bar on every floor. Every floor doesn't carry the same products so keep that in mind. We made a total of two stops in here that day as we were crawling. The first stop was for drinks and I came all the way up to the third floor to get some water views. There are alot of stairs with one elevator for those needing it. At the bar on the third floor I watched as the bartender serving what looked like regulars who clearly came in after me. He acknowledged I was there, but just kept saying he will be right with me. This went on for awhile and some of my party wanted to say something, but I patiently waited as I really wanted to have a drink on the deck and relax. We did come in later to eat and apparently there were only two servers for that entire second floor. Our food took awhile to come out but the server was nice and communicative. The food was decent, nothing to write home about. Also, there are only bathrooms on the second floor. Three floors of bars but one floor with bathroom. Weird. Just from first impressions, I don't see myself wanting to come back here. There are way too many options on the island for subpar service like I received.
Great find for a rooftop bar while visiting Galveston!! We stopped in the 3rd floor rooftop bar, and it had amazing views of the water, where the cruise ships leave from Galveston. The sea breeze was awesome. We had a couple of cocktails and grabbed a bite to eat. My husband had Cajun spice wings, and I tried a bratwurst. It was very good and the bun was soft and fresh. The homemade potato chips were great, plenty to share. Carson, took great care of us. Great service and cool vibe, with a DJ on Friday night. Nice local hangout. There is plenty of parking on the street.
Tourist Trap! Beautiful view from the 3rd floor. Nice server. Husband had the BLT with the Texas toast it was delicious. The fries not crispy. The ranch dressing was delicious. I ordered the Cesar salad the dressing was delicious, the croutons soft not crispy. I added salmon and it was inedible it was like a rock and had a very fishy taste. I don't recommend this restaurant for food.
Not sure why the review is low, but we had a great experience here! We were looking for a place to grab a drink after taking in some shopping. We found this Tavern! Three stories high, with balconies/patios to have a drink, socialize or take in the day! Plenty of seating on the top floor to enjoy the breeze while watching the boats come in. You have a perfect view of the Fisherman's Wharf below and beyond that. It's a beautiful view from the third floor from both sides. The second floor also had plenty of space inside and out. We liked that their menu (beer, mixed drinks and food) was on the napkin holder for easy access. They also have their beer on a flat screen display at the bar. The many barrels of beer making equipment around the place give it a real feel for being in a beer filled building. We tried the Waterwell and Galveston Bay Blueberry Blonde. We also had a couple of Micheladas. All of the drinks were good. We also had the pulled pork waffle fries, those were perfect! The bartenders were attentive and friendly! We asked to watch something specific and the bartender quickly accommodated. The bathrooms were clean and the restaurant was too. We would definitely stop here again to take in a game and have a drink or two.
The trivia on Tuesday's is fun but the staff is terrible. Our waiter never returned to our table, we were out of drinks for a while, one of our party approached him on the way to the restroom while he was at another table. He told him he needed a beer when he got a chance. He came to our table and scolded our friend for interrupting him while he was busy. Our friend apologized and the server took his order. This guy needs some manners. If the service is slow and bad, it's not our fault, ask for better staffing or quit if you dont like your job but don't ever scold a customer just because you're neglecting the table and your job.
It's a good and bad thing when a restaurant is not busy during spring break. So needless to say I was very much like "uh oh" when I showed up with a party of 6 and sat down immediately on day 1 of spring break. Shoutout to the guy working the floor. This dude was spot on with everyone's order and never wrote down anything. And that is especially impressive dealing with a table with 6; let alone the whole restaurant. He was patient with receiving the orders, but quick with getting them in and getting our items out to us. The food was meh; average at best. I wish I could say that the food was great but it wasn't. Asked for the "Brat of the Day" and the brought me this. Really weird vibe, there didn't seem to have any a/c as the bartender was sweating aggressively and he had a testicle popping out of shorts. The glizzy was pretty great regardless of where it came from read more

Food was absolutely amazing tried the schnitzel burger and fried pickles either great German beer. Picture does not do justice to the burger I just couldn't wait to dig in! very friendly staff as well. Great place! read more
This was actually number three on our tour. Unfortunately, number two, Axecade, does not have a yelp. Anyhoo, this tavern has three floors, complete with an open air patio. They serve local IPAs, live music, and I believe karaoke. We sampled their brisket brat and four of the local favorite beers. I'm not a big beer drinker, but even I knew those were some tasty brews. This place is in a great location with three floors. I read some of the reviews while waiting and we had the same problems. Very short staff, which isn't our waiters fault. If you don't have patience, avoid this place. We walked in during lunch time and their wasn't anyone there to greet us. After waiting for a few minutes, we were told that we could sit on the first or 2nd floor but not the 3rd. We started headed up to the 2nd floor and another person told us not to go up stairs and after repeating what we were just told, she said that 2 large tables were just seated and it's too busy upstairs. This is why having a hostess is important at a restaurant. We sat outside under an umbrella. It was such a nice day with clear skies. Our waitress was doing her best but the service was slow. I honestly would blame the kitchen and the bus boy that was barely doing anything useful. Hamburger came out with just the meat and bun. What happened to all the toppings that normally comes with a burger? Seriously? Kids chicken tenders- normal, no complaints. Avocado BLT- it was ok. It needed something. The fries were so overly greasy. I would skip those. Asked the bus boy for ketchup. Never came back. (Useless) When our waitress came I had to request it from her. Too our waitress, thank you for doing your best in this kind of situation. Your son who stopped by was adorable. read more

We come to Stutt often, when in Galveston, because of the drink specials, service is always good and we love the Appetizers! We prefer to sit on the 3rd Floor to look at the water but the first floor has a good patio that looks onto the Strand. I would recommend the Pretzel appetizer because the cheese sauce is Amazing! We also love the Sauerkraut Balls with mustard. So plan to stop here on your next trip. read more

Dive bar. But it's June in Galveston and I have to traipse up and down the strand so it's almost oasis like...It has AC and beer and smelly urinals. All of the food is frozen to fried. Service is good. read more
Great brat! It was huge!!! We also had sour Kraut deep fried balls. Ummmm. YUM!!!! I also had yummy warm German style potato salad. Our server was so sweet and attentive. I could tell she liked her job because she was singing to the radio and smiling the whole time. It was nice to hear her sweet voice. The prices were decent. Next time we visit Galveston we'll be sure to stop in again. read more

I Think People Initially Set Out To Travel So That We Can "See" New Things. In The End, For Us, What We Remember The Most, Is The People We Met Along The Way. While In Galveston, Texas, We Stepped Into Stuttgarden Tavern @stuttgardentavern For Some Lunch. Bratwurst And Beer. Well, Lemon Water For Me , But The Family Seemed Very Pleased With Their Stouts. We Were Graced With Jillian @that_glover_luck As Our Server. She Was So Much Fun, Pleasant, And Just A Great Personality. We All Wanted To Take Her Along With Us For The Rest Of The Day. Everyone Ordered Another Round Just To Be In Her Company For Just A Few More Minutes. I Was A Waiter Or Bartender For 15 Years. I Always Prided Myself On My Service. I Had This Thing Were I Would Tell My Customers, "I Can't Guarantee That The Food Would Come Out Right, But I Can Promise You An Experience That You Won't Forget!" If You Sat In My Section, I Just Loved You And Wanted To Treat You Like A Family Member In My House. Most Of Our Clients Become Our Friends. I Believe It's Because They Know That We Genuinely Care About Them And Will Provide The Best Service We Can Offer. And When You Meet People That Are Like Minded, That Can Make You Feel At Home, Naturally, Well, It Makes The World A Better Place And The Journey Memorable. Glad To Have Run Across You. The reviews definitely don't do this place justice--we came for lunch and had a GREAT experience! The food came out quickly, the service was awesome, and the environment was spacious and fun! I got the Ze D-man, and it was great! They put the brat--loaded with toppings by the way--on three connected and split rolls (they looked like King's Hawaiian, which was really dope!). The flavors were so great, and the brat had a great bite and chew! We also grabbed the Irish nachos and demolished them in about five seconds--great toppings, crispy fries, great portion! A few others in our party got bangers and mash and the schnitzel, and there were mixed reviews about the bangers and mash (I think the cabbage was the point of contention), but I remember trying it and loving all of it honestly. I think this is definitely a spot anyone looking to grab some good, non-beachy, bar/stick-to-your-ribs food should come to. I know I'll be back if I ever get back to Galveston! read more

Came in for a late night coffee while walking the strand. No one behind the counter on the first floor knew how to make coffee ( only one person trained and she was gone) funny thing about that was there was sign promoting gourmet coffees and teas. Well, not that day. They had a special on crawfish, 5 pounds for $20. Great deal, crawfish were seasoned perfectly, not too spicy but just right with a cold beer, the girl at the counter was very attentive, the service was good, the beer was cold and the crawfish was tasty. I'm disappointed about the coffee and I hope they will train more people to use the coffee machines, or bring in the sign promoting coffees, expresses and teas... especially on days when you aren't offering it. 4 stars for quality and service Pool tables, TVs outdoor seating read more

I came here for dinner with a couple of friends who had a craving for burgers. Myself, I really wanted something fried, so I almost went with the chicken tenders. Basic as hell, I know. But at the last minute I changed my mind and went with the Philly cheesesteak and french fries. Cheesesteak was huge, filled with steak and smothered in cheese. I wish I could've had a mix of chicken and steak, but they didn't allow it. This bar has a bunch of weird rules that don't make any sense. Anyway the cheesesteak was good. The fries were just okay, but they satisfied my craving for something cooked in hot oil. I ordered a Blue Moon to wash it all down with. There's no table service here. You have to order your food first, and then sit down. They'll bring the food to you, but that's about it. We had to grab our own waters and refills. The bar has a couple of different floors. You can't take alcohol between the floors, which is ridiculous. But you can take food between them. There's parking on Strand street. It may be tough to find a spot close to the bar on a busy weekend night, so be prepared to walk a little bit. I know they do trivia here once a week as well. Decent local bar that I'm sure I'll come back to. read more
We LOVE Stuttgarden and have been frequenting this place for years--since they were the tiny area down on the strand!! My teenagers love coming a couple times a year primarily for their Cheese Sticks!! They are DELICIOUS! We've had the grilled chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich, burgers, wings, and salads, and honestly, we've never left unsatisfied!! Their fries are good and their waffle fries are great! I also like their onion rings! My husband and I really like their Bloody Marys!! read more

My husband and I love going to Stuttgarden and totally recommend it! They have great food and a large selection of drinks. It is a little pricey in my opinion but you also pay for the atmosphere. There are several floors including a rooftop dining/bar area. They have games and the restrooms are clean. I definitely recommend you grab a seat outside with a view of the ships coming into the bay and grab a sausage! read more
