My mother and I went to a wedding on Friday in Geyserville and we needed hair and make up to complete our black-tie dress code looks. A few weeks prior, we booked appointments at Healdsburg Salon + Style Bar and our experience was amazing!! Shelby did my hair and both of our make up, and Mikayla did my mom's hair. They both did a fantastic job and were so fun, chatty, and attentive. Ashlyn, the receptionist, was lovely over the phone when we made our appointments and was equally delightful in the salon! She was hanging out and talking with us. For almost the whole time, we had the salon to ourselves which made for a wonderful, private experience. If I ever find myself in need of hair and make up services in Healdsburg again, I will absolutely go back. The stylist was touted as the best colorist in Healdsburg. Hmm, I'm new to the area and I thought I would try this salon.My hair has a history of being difficult to color which I conveyed. The color came out very poorly. When I conveyed this, I was met with an attitude that I must be lying about the outcome. It was two weeks before I could get into to this individual to assess the situation. He offered to make adjustments at a later appointment in the future. Hence, I was left with an embarrassing head of hair for several weeks. He is extremely arrogant and has no clue about the feelings and needs of his customers. Never return!! read more

From the beginning, Jayna was so sweet and made the process of booking super easy. Jayna answered all of my questions(I had plenty) and she was always quick to respond! Our artists were: Taylor for hair and Shaye for makeup. Both girls are beyond sweet and super talented. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day and it is thanks for them! If I could give 0 stars I would. I made an appointment for a blowout with braid almost 2 months in advance, specifying this was for an event. The day of the appointment, Emily was waiting for me. It was obvious from the beginning that she didn't really know what she was doing. She could not properly was my hair, putting shampoo and massaging just at the edges of my scalp, but not really washing the area at the top of my head. Conditioning was also poorly done, and I was left with knots in my hairs. I didn't say anything because I wanted to see where this was going, maybe it would get better. She tried to do curls with a brush, but her proficiency with it was very low. My hair were mostly straight, except for a small curl at the end. Once she finished the bottom layer of my hair, I asked her to stop to check how this was going. The result was terrible, so I asked to speak with the receptionist to understand if they had anyone else to do my hair, because up until that point, it had been the worst service and blowout I have ever had. The receptionist told me they did not had anyone else in the Salon (everyone was at a wedding), and she kept pushing for having Emily do my hair. At this point I was pretty confident that Emily was a very junior hairdresser, and not able to even handle a simple blowout. I was not asking for much, simple curls done with brush, but the receptionist kept repeating that the result I want was not possible to obtain with brushes. All good, except that the picture that I was showing as an example to what I wanted done was a picture of myself, with brush curls, 4 days before. What she meant was that the hairdresser was not able to do it, which is very different from "cannot be done". I ended up leaving with my hair half wet because we were not getting to a solution, and I had to find a different solution to get my hair done, since I was there to attend a wedding and did not brought even an hairdryer with me. I strongly discourage everyone to book an appointment here before checking what kind of experience the hairdresser has. The overall situation was very poor organized and handled. You DO NOT book someone on a Saturday, for an event, with an incredibly inexperienced hairdresser. read more

I got married on September 1st at the Highlands Estate in Cloverdale, which unfortunately doesn't have many salons nearby... but luckily Healdsburg Salon + Style Bar (formerly Sixx Two Eight Salon, which is what I knew it as) was within 20 minutes of my venue! All of my bridesmaids, my mom, my flower girl and I got our hair done by Mia, Jaemee, and Sam-- and they were all very fun and professional ladies! The morning of the wedding, they shutdown the salon for us to all have our hair done and it was a super relaxing. We were treated to coffee (because were all coffee addicts lol) and the experience was something I'll never forget. I came in to see Kayla, showed her some pinterest pics of the blonde ombre hair color that I wanted & she nailed it. I told her I didn't want super dark roots & she got rid of them. She took so much time with her technique from foiling my hair to hand painting the toners on to get the effect that I wanted & I am SUPER happy with how it turned out. Afterwards she took the time to not only blow dry it but put waves in it like I wanted. I will definitely be going back to her. The salon is very posh, modern & chic which is also a bonus. I don't like to give negative feedback but I have to be honest because I use Yelp for honest opinion! I had the worst blow out I've ever had in my life here. I am a local and thought I would try Healdsburg Salon & Style Bar. I was going out of town for 2 nights & just wanted a polished look and ended up spending $60 including tip on a blow dry that I could have done better myself. It looked very dry and all the layers that usually hair stylists love to accentuate weren't even visible because of where she put my part-there was no polish at all. I've had many many blow outs over the years and unfortunately this was a terrible experience and I won't be back. read more

Booked an appointment (same day) might I add for a blowout for myself and my mom on the day before Valentine's Day! We were able to be seen at the same time which was awesome! We were greeted by Taylor and Jayna who were the kindest hairdressers I've ever encountered. They made us feel like we were royalty for the day! They kept the conversations light and fun! They both took the time to give my mom and I the hairstyles we wanted (with little direction as told them to just have fun with it). I have LONG thick curly Hair, and was in and out of there in just under and hour which is rare for me. I had my wedding hair and makeup done at Six Two Eight as well as my bridal party and my mom - I do not have enough words to express what an incredible experience we all had at Sixx Two Eight! First of all, McKenzie, the bridal coordinator is an absolute dream. She was so diligent leading up to the wedding, making sure we had all the details in order. The day of, they closed down the salon for the morning, had fruit and pastries waiting for us and champagne flutes so we could sip some bubbles! They also provided plates, napkins, etc for the food we had brought in (to any future bride, do NOT forget to eat!). I don't live near Healdsburg so I didn't have the benefit of a trial. The team there accommodated beautifully. They allowed for a little extra time for my hair and makeup and were very understanding when I wanted things changed which is SO important. You want to look your best that day and if something doesn't feel right, you NEED to speak up. And in case they weren't wonderful enough, my mom decided last minute to get her makeup done and they were more than accommodating. Everyone looked beautiful. The makeup and lashes were the perfect combination of glamorous and natural - everyone felt great about how they looked and that is what is most important! I called about a week ahead to book an appointment. The appointment was made easily, and the woman on the phone was pleasant. They called me 2 days before to remind me of my appointment. When I arrived, everyone was in Halloween costumes. Not long after my arrival, I was greeted by Easy E and a mimosa. Already a good time! It wasn't incredibly busy when I was there. It was a very rainy day out, and it was only me and a few other customers. It was a very mellow vibe. My stylist - whose name I forget other than Easy E - was pleasant, hilarious, and did a GREAT job on my up-do! I received compliments all night, and it stayed put well into the after party. We were in town for a wedding and wanted to get our hair done so we thought the braid bar would be perfect. The website and a card at the desk says it takes 50 minutes. They were pretty busy, so they were a bit behind, but that was totally fine with us, we didn't mind. We had pictures of what we had in mind and both stylists did a really great job! Our braid styles held up well, and we got lots of compliments. My only issue is that it took 15 minutes each, tops. And cost $50 EACH, not including tip. Ouch. Not worth it, at all. I wish we had just youtubed some tutorials and done it ourselves. I could see if it was 50 minutes, but it was literally okay let's braid it out here, put in some bobby pins, add a bun and peace out you're done. read more

The ladies at SixxTwoEight did amazing things on my wedding day! They deserve more than five stars! They handled my hair and makeup trial, gave me a trim a few days before my wedding and came on site the morning of my wedding. First of all, McKenzie did an amazing job getting everything all set and organized for my trial and wedding day! She was super responsive over email, and was so kind throughout the entire process. Thanks to her, this part of the wedding planning process went very smoothly. Jaemee is incredibly talented with hair! I was really struggling with the hairstyle I wanted for my wedding (because of my own insecurities), and Jaemee was insanely patient with me. The morning of my wedding I did something crazy and gave Jaemee a picture of an entirely new hairstyle. In one attempt she worked her magic to make my hair look INCREDIBLE!! It was absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I wanted, and lasted all night! Mia did my makeup, and she made me look more beautiful than I've ever looked before!! I don't wear a lot of makeup, so she helped me to achieve a really natural look that would also show well in photos. It was perfect, and my skin looked amazing all night. Mia was also the one to stay and do touchups until the ceremony. She kept me looking great through my first look photos, and it took a lot of stress off of me knowing she was there! The make-up and hair stylists did an excellent job. The receptionists could not seem to get it together though. First they got the date I requested wrong, then the had us down for blowouts instead of upstyles, and when I called to correct that, somehow one of our hair appointments got dropped completely. They still made it work once we were there, but then the receptionist was going to charge me for false lashes when only my friend had gotten those, and luckily I noticed that the total was wrong. Just had the greatest salon experience ever at Sixx Two Eight! I LOVE my hair and have never felt more beautiful after leaving a salon. Susan Powers is AMAZING and did a wonderful job dying my hair and styling it to fit my daily lifestyle. I have curly hair and am not a fan of having to put tons of effort into my daily hair routine. I'm a get up and go kinda gal, and with this fresh new cut, I can do just that! The color job she did exceeded my expectations and the color turned out exactly as I had hoped. Michaela did an AMAZING job on my color...I gave her pretty vague direction but she took it and ran with it and the color is to die for. She absolutely nailed it, so five stars for the technical aspect. Only docking a star because I was so excited for all the lush little add-ons that I had heard about and saw while I was there--glasses of wine, chocolates, these beautiful French press coffees, etc--but no one ever offered me anything, not while I came in, not while I was in the chair, nada. I wasn't even offered water...I guess it's not that big a deal, but I was there for almost four hours and it would have been nice! It had been a rough week and I was really looking forward to a luxe experience. But I was pretty much ignored by everyone other than when my hair was being worked on :\ Everyone was pretty nice in their interactions with me, it just wasn't the pampering experience I was expecting, and considering how pricey it was, it would have been really nice to have those little extra touches. Really excellent salon and even better staff. I came in with tourtured, at home died red hair, and wanted to go back to a more natural cool toned hair with bayalage highlights. Kayla refused to give up on my hair until it looked great, and would not let me leave with orange hair. She spent hours trying to make me look my best. I have never met a stylist so dedicated to making her clients look their best. I have gone back many times to continue the process of fixing my hair and can't wait to return soon to get a hair cut. I trust sixx two eight more than anyone, and Kayla was excellent. Their french press coffee was a nice addition as well. You will not regret going here. I was a client of the owner's from shortly after they opened until last year when she stopped seeing clients who didn't get hair extensions. I never loved coming in because she was usually a bit rude (asking a question and then starting to talk to someone else while you were in the middle of answering, for example) but she is very good with curly hair. I wasn't told this until I arrived for our scheduled appointment and one of the other stylists announced she'd be cutting my hair. I wanted time to think about it and reschedule (I'm very picky about who touches my hair) but I was told I'd be charged for a missed appointment if I left, so I reluctantly stayed. The stylist clearly had very little experience in cutting curly hair. She insisted on cutting it dry even though I told her that doesn't turn out well for my hair & I prefer a wet cut. After she cut it her assistant washed and styled my hair. I had to ask for a mirror to see the back and the assistant looked hesitant to fetch one. It was extremely uneven. I'm trying to grow out my hair and I lost so much length in some areas that I have been set back a year or two of growth now that it's been evened out (at another salon). I immediately requested a refund from the receptionist but she wanted me to discuss it with the stylist "to be fair to her". The stylist had already left for the day! I gave up, called the salon once more the following day and was put on hold for a long time until I hung up. My emails also went ignored. There are many more professional, friendly salons in this area that you should consider before this one. The 5 star reviews here are mostly from the time when the owner was still seeing clients. read more

Once again I was rescued from a bad bad hair job. I should've listened to my gut instinct and wait patiently for my appointment with one of their BEST COLOR SPECIALIST ( Michaela ) but my Inpatient nature just couldn't wait for my appointment which would be 8weeks in advance and went to a previous used color stylist, hoping she would maybe, just maybe, redeem herself. I believe in second chances, sometimes third, and sometimes even forth chances. But this time was the last straw. Once again I was with a color and cut that just didn't suit me well in my opinion at all. However, my #hairCorrectorGoddess was able to fix the broken in my heart. My goodness it's as if they actually know you for ever to be able to really fix such a horrible job and to be able to see what looks best for your face and natural tones. She did it again!!!!
