I like the food and have ate here many times. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. They are very generous with their portions and the prices are great for what you get. Last time I ate here I had a bunch of Won Ton Soup (I was mostly drinking the broth, it's really tasty) and a short while later I felt my head from my checks up to numb (including my brain) and the backs of both my hands went numb. My guess is MSG? It only lasted about 30 minutes and then I was back to normal. I'd eat there again and would recommend the restaurant, but I recommend skipping the won ton soup if you are sensitive to MSG. I've been disappointed the last few times I've ordered "to-go" here. I originally ordered the cashew prawns and steamed rice. When I got home, I had Kung Pao Chicken. Called them; they said next time, my Cashew Prawns would be complimentary. The next time I went in, I ordered Cashew Prawns and steamed rice again.The gentleman who had offered me a complimentary order wasn't there, so I just paid for it. Before I left, I noticed that my order didn't have the steamed rice I ordered. When I got home, my Cashew Prawns didn't have any cashews! Thank heavens this place exists as a food option in Middletown. Solid Asian food with some wonderful Szechuan options. The menu is quite extensive but not overwhelming. You certainly don't have to have it spicy "hot" as they will make it mild or extra hot upon your request and the ingredients seem quite fresh Without too heavy oil usage. I love the owner who's smile just makes me happy to see him and his beautiful wife who usually takes your order at the restaurant. read more

Had the family dinner for two. Everything was fresh and delicious. Can't say enough about how wonderful this restaurant. We chatted with the owner who is delightful and clearly puts his heart into Su Garden. Oh, and let me write about the bathroom which seems strange but it is SPOTLESS. Here's the Chinese laundry list of what they got wrong: - the Kung Pao was chicken not shrimp for my vegetarian wife - it was ordered very spicy but was bland - my Mongolian beef was ordered mild but was very hot - the portion was tiny - the egg rolls were in with the food so totally soggy - no sauce for the egg rolls - no Chinese mustard - my fried rice was tasteless & the color of molasses; dirty wok? - oh, and my server was rude If you're in Lake County jonesin' for Chinese, drive another 20 minutes North to the Magic Wok in Clear Lake. We tried several dishes when we went a few weeks ago. I liked some dishes better than others. My favorite is the lemongrass chicken. It was a more traditional Asian dish. It had a nice balance of tangy and a little spicy. The orange beef was a little sweet for my husband but I liked it. I did not like the egg drop soup. I've eaten here several times. This evening it was horrible! The service was off putting. The wonton soup had only two intact wontons. The rest were messy, loose noodles devoid of filling. The orange chicken was dry, without any sauce. The broccoli in garlic sauce (at $10!) was barely cooked without any sauce. The walnut prawns were just OK and usually they are quite good. It's been awhile since I've eaten Chinese food in Middletown but tonite I did as I ventured down to Middletown's Su Garden located at the southern entrance to town. My overall rating is 3-1/2 stars as I was pleasantly surprised at the changed decor, fast service and freshly delicious offerings placed before me. I could make a meal of pot stickers and vegi egg rolls and Su Garden's were some of the best I've ever had. Fresh, light - you can taste the difference believe me - with homemade sauces leave you wanting more. For mains I choose king pao chicken, orange chicken, broccoli beef and pad Thai noodles. I will say I, personally, wasn't a fan of the pad Thai but only because it had seafood I can't eat. As for the rest, delicious. Fresh vegis, lean meat and sauces which were light and added to rather than dominated the ingredients. The orange chicken was a touch too done for me but was very good and didn't have that candy orange taste but rather the true fruit came out complemented the meat. Nice. Pricing is moderate, take out available. read more
