Saturday night and the place was pretty empty but they had a good stream of to go orders coming in. The smell as you enter is amazing! You can smell the mesquite meats and aromatics of Mexico in the air! Frank was the gentleman upfront and he was very friendly and helpful. As we inquired about some of the items on the menu, you could tell he was pretty proud of their offerings. Always a good sign. They offer several types of meats, cuts and food styles. Prime is the usual cut of meat and their exotic is prime rib or arrachea (skirt steak). We ordered several items all prime. The meat is all grilled mesquite, the tortillas are made in house and I'm sure the same with their salsas. At first, when we got to this place, I wasn't too sure if the tacos would be good. There weren't too many people inside and looked quiet. My husband ordered 12 tacos. 6 adobada and 6 rib eye steak tacos with everything. They were really good! Didn't get a photo because we were so hungry. I was wondering why it was taking so long... BUT... Not only do they cook the meat as soon as you order (fresh), they give you a generous amount of meat! Their green sauce is pretty spicy. The heat builds as you keep eating it. They give you a free drink with your order. But husband and I weren't big fans of the choices. It is a bit pricey but considering other taco places, it's not too bad. I don't think I've ever had an agua fresca that I've disliked as much as the one I got here. It was SUPER sweet and very syrupy. I got the tj taco de asada and a mulita de asada. The taco was alright. Meat was decent and I liked the handmade tortilla. Pretty standard taco but not worth $5. The mulita however, I could not finish it. It was SUPER greasy, I did not particularly like the cheese they used and I love mulitas. Had two bites and couldn't finish it and I never leave food on my plate. Their tijuana tacos were 50% off on Tuesdays, which turned out to be $2.50 each, and I'd say they were definitely worth it. Because I got there a bit late in the night, they had ran out some of the meat I wanted to try. However, the adobada and the tripa tacos I got were excellent. The tacos I thought were pretty loaded up with a good amount of meat and guacamole. The meat was all very soft and juicy. Their salsa roja was a bit spicy, but very tasty, while the salsa verde was more mild and creamy. The sides they had (cucumber, carrots, limes) all looked very fresh. The store itself was kept very clean and tidy. The workers I interacted with were super nice as well. The first time I went they got my order wrong but the tacos were good enough to go back and I'm glad I did. It's a small little place with a few tables. TJ Style tacos with guacamole and homemade tortillas are $3.50 unless you get the premium rib eye steak, which maybe is $1 more but idk. The torta was fine and huge but the bread was a bit too dry for me. Every bite into it, it would crumble. The tacos are where it's at though. I've had asada, pollo, tripa and adobada. All of them are great but I think my favorite is the tripa cuz it's slightly crispy, good flavored and chunks of meat not little strips. Service is fine, they're polite but I wouldn't say friendly.
