Decided to go to my favorite spot for a bite to eat and I've never noticed this place. So I had to give them a try. I don't know if they change out their specials, but today was 2 gyros, fry and drink for 12.99. So that's what I ordered. The gentleman behind the counter is very soft spoken and thanked me for my order. I'm guessing the brothers part comes in as the other gentleman started working on my order. They were able to pass things off with barely a word. The dining area was clean and tidy. I took my order to go. The pita was nice and warm with thick cuts of gyro meat. The tomatoes and onions were fresh with a slight zing of the tzatziki sauce. The fries were good but the gyro was the star. The second gyro I asked for the sauce on the side so I could reheat it. The next day I was able to separate everything nicely and reheat it everything slowly and it was about jeff as good as being fresh. Looking forward to going back. read more

With the a-typical menu of: gyros, burgers, Italian beef, chicken wings, fried fish or shrimp, fries, etc. They serve inexpensive sub sandwiches that should satiate most appetites, though they are run-of-the-mill quality. Big bread, which could use more meat and/or shredded veggies. And the french fries are of the frozen-fried kind. I'd ordered cheese fries once, the quality of the fry so poor I chucked it. We're at a time when many businesses are opting to make fresh hand cut fries.. these guys need to update. (Note to management, check out Red Hot Ranch. If Sub brothers did great fries like RHR, I think customers would stop in more frequently just for a fresh bag of fries. The commuters and the bar crowd would dig fresh fries.) I was in the area and googled sub sandwiches. This is a small hole in the wall but friendly and good food from what I had. The menu was on what looked like a chalkboard, I did not see a veggie sub on menu, so I asked the nice gentleman if they had veggie subs, he said I can make you one and do you want cheese on it? I said yes, lots of choice of veggies for the sub, lettuce tomato onions pickles jalapenos and more I cannot recall. My sub was delicious! I had it on white bread because I forgot to ask if they had wheat bread and he already started making my sub. Absolutely lovely gentleman taking orders who I assume to be one of the owners. It is because of his kindness that I leave 3 stars. I ordered a grilled cheese and not only was the cheese not melted but he didn't butter the bread before grilling the sandwich. End result was dry burnt bread with two slices of unmelted cheese between the bread. No one else was there either so it was just a sloppy rushed job. The fries are not the best but the price is low so you can't really complain there. In all fairness, my mother ordered the polish sausage and said it was delicious. For a small shop on Morse, the dining area has seating and is decorated nicely than one would expect. Good thing so that you can enjoy your sandwich fresh from the grill rather than taking it home to lose its crisp or bread to get soggy. On my first visit, was originally going to get a corned beef on rye off their menu, but saw among their posted new items/specials, jim shoes/gym shoes. They come in small and large sizes ($7.99/9.99). Went ahead with a small and remained good eating until I got home minutes later. A staple of Rogers Park! I've been a patron of Sub Brothers since the early '00s. The brothers are two of the kindest people you'll ever have a chance to meet and they know how to make a mean sandwich - all of their food is perfectly seasoned. I'm a big fan of their cold cuts and the Philly will always hold a special place in my heart (they make it in a unique way.) The menu is simple, yet includes all of the sub shop/diner favorites you're craving and their prices are very fair since they haven't sold out to Grubhub. The place is small, yet quaint & charming with 4 tables for dining in; located in central Rogers Park and easily accessible from public trans. Been here a few times and embarrassed to say I've only gotten a burger each time. They have quite the ranged menu for such a small corner sandwich joint. The two brothers are incredibly warm and welcoming. The presentation of the food I received each time is really good! Everything tastes fresh and it's usually loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, whatever else you may ask for. The burger patty is a little thin, but considering they specialize in sandwiches, it's understandable. Every time I've been inside, it's usually empty with the exception of a couple customers grabbing their pickup orders. This place is CASH ONLY, so be prepared. Pretty tasty! I've been curious so I decided to stop in for a simple turkey submarine. Its extremely clean inside, even in the back where they prepare the food is very clean. The gentle who took my order was very nice and it took them no time to prepare it. I saw other people's orders: chicken sandwiches and fries and it looked great! So my boyfriend suggested Sub Brothers, which is around the corner from my house and I must say, it was one of the best food experiences of my life. I ordered the eight wings with fries and man oh man, holy crap, I'm in Pavlov mood right now man. Any who, my food was perfect, the chicken was seasoned perfectly and the fries were AMAZING! My boyfriend had the same with a sub as well. His was the corn-beef and roast beef sub, from his delight it was amazing. Delicious he says. This place is truly a treasure. It's owned by two of the sweetest old men ever and it's clean. Note if you want to eat at this place, it is small with only seats for about eight people. I first dined at this place over eight years ago and was not satisfied with that first purchase. I ordered the King combo and when I got it home, there were just two single layers of corn beef and roast beef and the sandwich was very dry. I decided not to go back. Because when I'm starving and on the go, I would appreciate something appetizing and satisfying. Fast forward 8 years later, I decided to give them another try. I told the owner about that bad sandwich experience and I purchased another combo from him after sharing that info with him. That sandwich was layered well and delicious. Now today I zipped back into the restaurant and purchased another sandwich. I noticed it was back to the single layers, the bread was crusty and stale and the lettuce and tomatoes appeared to be freezer burned. It's official, I'm done with this place. Moral of the story - check your food before you leave that place. I have stopped by this place on several occasions since moving to Rogers Park, and I have always been quite satisfied. The first time I ordered the namesake sub, and It was above average for sure. I wish there was more meat on the sub, but for the dirt cheap price it was perfect. The meat was great, the veggies were fresh and it was well assembled. The next time I stopped here I got the gyro, and it was pretty standard. It was delicious, but it didn't really stand apart from the other great gyros in the area. I simply love these 2 brothers, not only is it super cute that at their age, they are with each other daily, and I'm big on supporting the family unit. Every single item on their menu cost $5.00 on the south/west side but you definitely won't receive your meal over a counter (filthy bullet proof turn style) or with a smile therefore the extra $2 to $3 bucks is well worth it to me. My only gripe is the quality of their fries, just cardboard garbage, there's no potatoes in those fries, and if you don't speed walk home after getting them they are inedible in less than 10 minutes!!! Oh and if you have that craving for a bacon double cheese burger you will be shocked at the size of the bacon, it's BEEF and it's freakin huge, they don't sell pork products which is sad when you crave beef and pork, but beef and BIGGER BEEF is a turn off. read more

Lived in the neighborhood for several years and finally went in here for a late lunch carryout. The cashier (one brother) was very nice. I ordered the Sub Brothers sandwich and an order of fries. I enjoyed the sandwich as it reminded me of Mr. Sub on the Southside. The big difference here is Sub Brothers bread was fresh and not served cold (unlike Mr. Sub). I think it would've been great to include 2 slices of each meat versus one. The amount of fries received for almost $2 was not worth it as the quantity was small. What can I say, I love Sammiches. Sub Brothers makes some mighty fine and tasty Sammiches for a really great price. A large sandwich (footlong) will run you UNDER $6 bucks and a regular (six + inches) under $4 bucks. They do have other items like fried fish, pizza puffs and general stuff you can get anywhere else in the city..but nowhere else will you find a sandwich made with brotherly love like at sub brothers. The bread is a sesame bread and trust me..ask them to warm the bread. Warming the bread definitely changes the flavor of the bread and brings out the toasty-ness of the sesame seeds. All of their sandwiches come with your typical condiments so just make sure to let them know what you like and what you don't, they're very accommodating. The brothers sub often run specials for 2 gyros or 2 hot dogs for about 5 bucks. These specials also include a can of soda and fries. They have all varieties of soda..including grape crush (holler!). It honestly blows my mind to think that the Sub Brothers have not garnered more reviews. The brothers have been in Rogers Park for about 15 years serving these deeerishus Sammiches. Really great simple place that has good gyro meals. The tzatziki sauce was great too. Decent prices and the meals taste fresh and are delicious. When I meet someone from Rogers Park, I always ask the same question - have you been to Sub Brothers? And their answer is always no. This place is soooo good! I don't understand why people haven't tried it! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but It's cheap, it's delicious, and the brothers are super nice. We moved to Evanston 6 months ago and we still stop by every other week. I'm from TX, and whenever I go home to visit, my brother asks me to take a couple of their gyros with me, haha! This place is fantastic! Just a few steps off the Red Line at the Morse stop, and the food is ready fast. I had a small Philly Cheese Steak, my boyfriend had a large Salami, we got an order of fries to share, and we each got a can of pop. All together, it was just $15 and change. The sesame bread is what makes the sandwich, and the toppings were phenomenal. The Philly comes with grilled onion and peppers, cheese, and a little mayo, and it was hot and delicious. The Salami has lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, mayo, and oil and vinegar. Everything tasted super fresh. I highly recommend Sun Brothers! When I noticed that Sub Brothers only had eight reviews on Yelp today I was shocked! This place has been around forever so how in the world can there only be eight reviews? Well, I am going to make sure to make the ninth and tell my roomate to make the tenth, because I love this little place! In all honestly, I have only had one thing from Sub Brothers, but I've been there many times! I just love the traditional turkey sandwich so much that I never have the urge to try anything new. My roommate, on the other hand, has tried a few different things and she has enjoyed everything that she has ordered. This place isn't fancy by any means, but it's perfectly simple and always hits my sandwich spot! It's small, with about three tables inside, but it's so warm and inviting. There are two guys - brothers, I presume, as they look identical and the name would indicate that to be true - who are always there working side by side.
