This sonic is hit or miss, but I think the key is to order on the app. My friend showed me this hack (which also scores you half off drinks 24/7) and it was a much better experience than ordering at the drive through. Last time I did that, the wait was really insane -- 30+ minutes just for two drinks. By ordering through the app, we drove up to one of the bays and waited about 10 minutes for our order. I was so excited when I heard Sonic had reopened not far from where my husband works. I talked him into going there today and honestly I couldn't be more sorry. I rarely visit Sonic, but they do have really good milkshakes definitely. They also have mozzarella sticks, and when I was craving cheese curds this is the place nearby and open that I went to. The mozzarella sticks are great and the now I do want a milkshake, but I refrained. Instead I decided to try their broccoli bites and they were disgusting, so stick to the standards here. read more

This Sonic location is new to me because I normally go to the location in Franklin Park. The workers were very nice when my boyfriend and I came here, and our order was perfect when the carhop came to give us our food. You can never go wrong getting slushies! I got the Blue Hawaiian one with poprocks inside, while my boyfriend got a Powerade one. I got a delicious crispy chicken sandwich with tots, and he got the popcorn chicken with tots. If you don't come here for anything else, try the tots, the cheddar peppers, and slushies! The Blue Coconut flavor is also delicious! The downfall of this location in relation to the Franklin Park location is that there aren't many drive in stations. The Franklin Park one has SO many, yet this location has maybe 7 or 8? This one does seem to have a larger dining area though, so I guess if you don't want the full Sonic experience of eating in your car, you can eat inside the restaurant. Honestly, this is also a really random place to even have a Sonic. It's in a random part of the neighborhood that isn't exactly downtown, but around the downtown area. Pulled up to a stall and mobile ordered, checked in as soon as I placed the order. The wait time for the food was longer than expected but not horrible initially. Once we got the order I realized I had forgotten a milkshake, so no big deal, I ordered the milkshake. After waiting 20 minutes I went inside to see what was going on and the cashier could not have been more rude. Asked me if I checked in, I did in fact, then waved me out the door and said "we got you". We waited another 10 minutes (a total of 30 minutes. For a milkshake.) before finally just leaving. I've been visiting this location for about 4 years. Recently they have started tacking on a "transaction fee" of .22 cents. Although just a minimal amount, what fast food location in 2024 charges to use a debit card? In past visits the location has removed the fee when I questioned it. Curiosity and a slow driving pace around the neighborhood (which infuriated people behind me) brought me to the corner of Wilson and Sheridan. As I was swatting a mosquito that sneaked into the car, I turned to my left and almost immediately couldn't breathe! There it was in all its glory - SONIC!!!!! No turning signal for me! My two Brothers and I immediately began dancing as I pulled an irrational turn at the light and whipped into the parking lot! The mayhem began! Between the three of us we had: -Fish sandwich -Cheddar cheese bread dog -Chili Cheese fries -Tater Tots -Chicken strips -Jalapeno poppers -Fried cinnamon bites (SO YUMMY) -Polynesian punch slushy (All me!) It. Got. Serious. Everything was delicious as always. The hot dogs in the cheesy buns are a new item that I would say you have to try at least once! I placed an order via the mobile app. I was instructed to pull in to one of the stalls, and someone would bring it out to me when it was ready. I was no more than 10 feet from the door. The server walked the few steps from the door to my car, handed me my order, told ME to check it to make sure it was correct- bc she did not. (I'm sorry, but isn't that their job to do before they bring it out?!) and then had the effing audacity to ask me why I didn't include a tip, and stood there and waited for me to hand her some cash. The food at Sonic is pretty good, if you get what you ordered. Unfortunately that can be a problem at this sonic. First, to order delivery you have to go through a service like Uber Eats, which increases prices dramatically. Secondly, when the order is incomplete or wrong there is no one to complain to. You can not reach this restaurant and no one answers the phone and Uber says to call the restaurant. There is no way to contact anyone to make the situation right, and no way to get a resolution to any problem. This has now happened twice at this Sonic. I read all the bad reviews on the level of service but change is in place folks. I understand there's new management in place. We were there tonight and service was fast. We ordered multiple combo meals and we got the food within minutes. Food wise, for a fast food joint they have good side options, a variety of frozen dessert/smoothie/shakes and 5 different kids meals. However they need to bulk the toppings (lettuce, tomatoes and etc) on the burger and the chicken tenders are on the small side. Great addition to the neighborhood. I went to this place by myself. There are few people inside and happily enjoying their food. Before I went to the order station I found a table where I would sit later. I put my books on it and went to the order station. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger toaster and a Supersonics Breakfast Burrito. Their Bacon Cheeseburger Toaster comes with bbq sauce, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, 1 onion ring and Texas toast. I remove the pickles cause I don't like the taste of it. Tomato and lettuce are still fresh and I love it. Overall this bacon cheeseburger toaster is so delicious. You will also like their Supersonic Breakfast Burrito comes with cheddar cheese, tater tots, onions, jalapenos, tomatoes and you can choose among sausage or bacon. I chose sausage on it. The sausage is yummy and juicy inside. I can't wait to come here the next day. read more

The food is o.k but twice, I waited in the lobby and rung the bell for an employee to take my order. Each time I waited over 10 minutes, but the last time I knocked on the door where employees prepare the food. An employee later came out and gave the other woman who was there before me a fork. That woman was waiting and ringing the bell since before I arrived. I asked if I could order now. The employee complained that she was the only one there and her manager doesn't help her. She left me and the guy behind me in the lobby with no employee or service again. I knocked on the employee door once to see to the employees with earplugs in and some with no masks, but to explain to the manager that I'm going to eat somewhere else and that he should not ignore and literally leave the people in the lobby alone with no employees or service. Most people associate Sonic as a drive through or "dine in" your car. Whereas I actually dined inside the restaurant! Employee was patient and food was quick. There are signs of 30 minute sitting time, no loitering, 24 hour survelience closed circuit, and neighborhood watch. Customers must tell cashier to buzz into the bathrooms! All these types of security makes me feel safe and watch morning tv. I'm the only customer here so far. The McDonald's next to Sonic has more foot traffic and customers; I'd rather be at Sonic in peace and quiet. There's a fireplace below the tv and would've wished it was turned on. I actually love sonic but this location is the worse. Service is ok but the burger buns are literally always stale and a little hard. I've complained via the company survey multiple times over the last 5 years and either no one reads those reviews, no one cares, or both. Sucks because we don't have another location nearby. Changed from 2 stars to 4 because it's really unfair to the employees that have no control or say to also get a negative review on their workplace. This location is ghetto as HELL. You have to ring a buzzer to get an employee to come from the back. The bathrooms aren't (or weren't judging from the "NO bath room" sign) available for customers. Condiments are given from the counter. No free soda refills. No free water cups. The food is ok but a bit pricey if you order everything a la carte. The mozzarella sticks are great, as are the burgers. Take advantage of the daily specials, and you'll be fine. The neighborhood is off-putting and looks unsafe, and I had two homeless make their rounds and beg me for money. There are known drug buys along this stretch of Wilson, so be careful. read more
