* A negative update from my prior review * Wanting to post this update to inform others and ensure my prior positive review does not incorrectly lead others. Having been loyal Submarina consumers for well over a decade, even travelling to a nearby city when our local location closed - we will no longer frequent the Submarina franchise due to our recent experience. Our reasoning for this negative update - the higher cost of sub sandwiches were once justified, you would get mounds of meat and each sandwich was more than a meal. On our visit yesterday, we were so surprised when the employee was slicing the meat SO thin, when it was placed on the bread you could actually see the bread through the meat (no exaggeration!). To make up for this lack of meat, they instead piled on way too much lettuce in an obvious effort to still make the sandwich look, "full." What our multiple sandwiches ended up being - meat "flavored" lettuce sandwiches. To add, each footlong sandwich costing over $20. Most know that costs (e.g., labor and product) are going up and businesses are looking for ways to cope, we accept that. However, even in light of that, the cost of Submarina's product is nowhere close to being worth the price they charge. read more

I'm getting so sick of taking a gamble on some new brand I've never heard of and being so disappointed. It was like $15 with no chips or drink. The bread was the weirdest texture I've ever had. It just turned into mush instantly in the Ajou and there was one or two thin little slabs of meat on the sandwich. Grilled onions were not an option. Bell peppers were not an option. This isn't a review for the store but for the owner. I stopped by last Saturday after working in the morning.. I was so looking forward to my favorite sandwich. I ordered 2 sandwiches for myself and my boyfriend. AFTER my sandwiches were already made The workers had said that they were rebooting the payment terminal because it wasn't working for whatever reason so I was like oh that's fine. It'll just be a few minutes. After standing there for 15 to 20 minutes, everyone else in the store had already left. They locked the front door so no one else would come in and they kept trying to reboot the system they had tech-support on the line and by this point I'm like my toasted sandwich is no longer hot. That's fine. I asked the workers I said instead of us having to leave to go to ATM to come back to get our sandwiches why don't you just comp these two meals? the people in front of us were very nice but they had been there longer than me!. They were working with them trying to figure out a solution as well. And the lady working, let us know. She didn't have the authority to comp our meals that she was trying to get a hold of the owner and she couldn't this point. I was getting agitated because I'm tired my feet hurt from standing there, I'm hungry. She finally gets the owner on the line and instead of the owner graciously saying thank you for waiting and being patient you asked us to Zelle you even though we were waiting for so long our food has been sitting there on the counter getting soggy. I thought it was very poor. Taste to ask us to Zelle or go to ATM instead of taking care of your two customers in the store. At that point, it was just beyond ridiculous and walked out. I haven't been to a Submarina in a few years, and I remember the sandwiches were pretty. So I came here with my 2 kids and yes the squaw bread sandwiches were the best. I'm giving 2 Big stars one for the food and one for the staff working there. My gripe is the $47 dollar Bill for 2-1/2 sandwiches. Making them combo's dosnt save you any money like other fast food restaurants do, rather than buying the items individually. And when they tell you, you can swap the chips for Mac or potato salad, but they didn't mention there's an additional fee for that. And if you don't think you spent enough you can tak on another $10 bucks for a tip. $47 dollars can buy a weeks worth of sandwiches for the whole family. I tried an Italian Submarina sandwich here recently and I was surprised at how good it was. The cold cuts seemed above average and weren't too salty. What surprised me was how large and tasty the bread was. None of this, seasoned french bread wannabe. It was eleven inched long and over four inches wide. Wow Service was quick, bordering on rude, but with a smile. So I took no offense. Just what do you want? Do you want it toasted? What kind of cheese? Next! Love the 3 inch sandwich/soup combo! Perfect size for a light meal. I recommend the tuna avocado on the squaw roll -so fresh! I'm not even a tomato soup fan, but they have the most amazing tomato soup there. I think it's tomato creme risotto. read more

I'm here at lunchtime. They have one person helping people at 12 noon. Absolutely No one acknowledged that I was there someone slicing meat right in front of me like I wasn't there. Pretty disappointed with this place. The food is average but I could make these sandwiches at home and they'd taste better. Portions are gigantic though, so if you're hungry that's one good thing. These sandwiches feel like they're double the size (in girth) of what you'd get at Subway. They also gave us a couple of Andes mints in the bag, so that was also nice. Service was pretty lackluster. They let you taste the sauces but the workers all looked miserable, like they didn't want to be there. I had to repeat my order to the cashier three times, and even then she didn't ring it up correctly until a coworker repeated the order once more. There's also no order to how they build the sandwiches; my wife and I each got a sandwich but the ingredients were arranged differently in each. It just looks sloppy and further reinforces that the workers just don't care. Even though the sandwiches are huge, I still thought the price was incredibly high. We got two average-tasting sandwiches and somehow paid $35?! I don't think it's worth the money and I probably won't be coming back. read more

I Called in to place a catering order of 2 party trays (about $150.00 order) . The lady on the phone was taking my order and we were about 2 minutes away from being finished when she said " I'm sorry we are getting busy, I need to put the phone down but it won't be long"..... 30 min later, I can hear that no one is in left and no orders are being taken and I am still on hold. I hung up after 30 min and have called back several times and the phone still remains OFF THE HOOK. At this point, it has been an hour and they still have the phone off the hook. I located this sub shop by accident. I was getting gas and noticed this place by the gas station. I was created by the staff in a kind way. The food was pretty good and the price was reasonable as well. The place was clean and the staff conducted good hygiene practices. I had the wrap which was pretty big, which I wasn't expecting. I used to rant and rave about this spot when it came to veggie sandwiches. The serving size was always generous and the vegetables fresh and tasty. However, after my experience yesterday, I doubt I will be back. I arrived and requested my normal order, veggie sandwich, no cheese, mustard only, all the veggies, etc. Everything was just "okay" until we got to the guac ... no joke, barely a few slices and it was carelessly placed on the bread. They used to load it up and then would cut it on the bread so it was more of an avocado mash, which made it easier to consume. I made a comment that it was a shame that their portion sizes were now so stingy, the employee behind the counter jsut ignored me. I have no problems paying for "extra" guac, but that wasn't the case here... I just wanted the standard serving size. If that has decreased in size, it should be stated somewhere. Just saying, the sandwich was less than the norm, it was overall pretty sorry looking and even the veggies were a bit sad in serving sizes. As far as the condiments go, would've been cool if I got a little more than a taster amount. If you're struggling Submarina, just say so lol. read more

I understand during this pandemic we all have to do our part to ensure that we are safe when we go out to pick up food. Most food businesses post their requirements clearly so patrons understand the rules that apply to their establishment. This locations posted Covid protocol regulations were so vague that patrons walked in, stood in line and waited to be served only to be rudely confronted by an employee with an attitude that should not be addressing customers. I noticed this same employee wearing a hat with a derogatory slang on it. What's up with the "FTP" hat? You see that tagged on law enforcement and surrounding buildings in cities where there is major rioting and unrest. "(FTP) in white lettering on a black canvass or hat t-shirt etc. usually doesn't stand for "File Transfer Protocol." Didn't know Submarina had a new logo as part of their uniform. Needless to say my family and I will not be going to Submarina anymore. I don't think they would care anyway if they allow employees to advertise their disdain for those in authority in a place of business. Before you label me as a triggered unhappy customer slamming ones first amendment rights you should understand that this individuals right of free speech doesn't trump my right to speak up when their is a blatant attack on those that serve and protect our communities, especially during these days when good innocent individuals are being verbally and physically targeted for simply wearing a uniform. read more

We really enjoyed these subs/sandwiches. Visiting Temecula from LA for a family get together and we were craving sandwiches. We got the Italian the veggie the turkey and tuna sandwiches tried the brown bread and the French roll and both were really nice. The veggies were fresh and the honey mustard on my turkey was delicious. I would have liked my sandwich toasted a touch more but that's personal preference. Meat quality was average but overall the sandwiches were a good size and tasty. We will order again! read more
