My wife and I grabbed a couple sandwiches and were pretty disapointed. We often frequent Canyon Crest so we thought we would give this place a try. I thought about ordering the turkey and avocado but when I looked at the station behind the glass, the avocado looked very brown and unhappy. We ended up getting a turkey and swiss on white and an Italian on white. The turkey was very watery and flavorless ( almost transparent), some of the meats in the italian sub tasted funny, especially the salami which looked unnaturally brown which smelled and tasted funny. The white bread was soft and flavorless. I hesitate to give such a bad review but I really can't think of any nice things to say about our experience. read more

So I have been going to Subs and Spuds for a bit and generally I am happy. The manager is cool and the lady that I think is a relative is nice. I have specific orders and most of the time they get it right. The reason I can't give it 5 stars is the don't get it right all the time and it leaves some visits lacking. What I do like it pretty much everything on the menu is good. I have went all the way from breakfast to subs to potatoes and have pretty much enjoyed them all. I'm not really a salad person but the Southwest salad they have it really good. The dressing is maybe one of the best dressings I ever had as it tastes like if a salad dressing was mixed with Cool Ranch Doritos. Hard to explain but good. The breakfast burrito is another high spot for me as well as the Pastrami sub. The main thing on the lists of things I don't like is the manager sometimes makes things out like they are no problem and then they become a problem. They delivered to my home which I thought was really cool and the guy was making it like it was fine and just to call as he's leaving and he will come no problem. Well it went from that to a 5 dollar delivery charge to a 35 dollar minimum order to this and that. If you don't want to deliver or wanted it worth your while, just say so instead of all the passive aggressive stuff. Also there is a lot of up selling which I really hate. It pisses me off even more when you are trying to upsell me and then you don't get my original order right(which happened the most recent visit). Overall though they try and the food is good. I wanted to like this place, gave it several try's but always left disappointed. Today's visit was no different. I was in a hurry and wanted a snack to hold me over. I waited over 10 minutes in line behind a women who ordered about 5 meals to go. The cashier didn't even acknowledge me until I was at the register. I ordered pasta salad and a cookie which were premade, had the cashier bothered to speak with me he could have gotten me in and out and on my way. And honestly I didn't find that the food was worth the cost. If you're in the Riverside area, in a hurry and looking for a good meal at a reasonable price then I would suggest eating anywhere else. read more

Eaten here many times over many years. All-around great food. Starting with breakfast: Breakfast croissant is very good. Breakfast burrito is OK, since I have to compare to the amazing breakfast burritos in Riverside at Bravo Burger and Mr Taco. The taco salad is very good and filling, the Jumbo stuffed potato was over the top (no mushrooms on mine) -- I was stuffed afterward but still wanted another bite :) . One of my favs that I don't get often (not exactly health food on this one) is the hot pastrami. I get mine on toasted wheat roll. They heat the pretty-lean pastrami and I have them add red and green peppers in the skillet with the meat. After that concoction gets dumped on the toasted bread, covered with provolone, I get pickles and yellow mustard. It's handful-of-napkins awesomeness! read more

I visit my in laws in LA once a year, Subs & Spuds is a place I never miss. Among my favorite places to eat they are #1. I love their soups, salads, subs and the baked potato covered with cheese and sour cream is to die for... My husband loves their buffalo chicken stuffed baked potato with great buffalo sauce! Everything in the menu is very reasonably priced, of great quality and their sandwiches are filled with all ingredients you order but very neatly served. This year for my grandson's birthday we ordered the tray of croissants filled with turkey, cheese, lettuce, mayo and mustard, and it was an overwhelming success!!! And the best thing about it was, we looked great but did not cost us a fortune! Everything in the menu is very reasonably priced! They also have soda fountain, plus a refrigerator where you can choose juices or milk of your liking. I highly recommend Subs and Spuds to anyone who loves great food in a relaxing atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. read more

First time at this place and the sandwich here are pretty legit. They make everything fresh so when you get it, it's steaming hot. The only thing that is a downer is the price of the sandwich. I've been craving a meatball sub for awhile now ... figured I give these guys a shot for the first time in Riverside area this evening. The customer service was very good and the timing of getting my order and having me out the door was right there as well. I was a little disappointed with the sauce for the meatball sub, sauce is supposed to be the best part and was lacking something ... They have "monster" cookies and they were delicious and was actually the best part of the meal. I'll come back and try the pastrami and cheese melt sub as recommended by the guy that was working there tonight. read more

i love this place. their potatoes are excellent, and i like the bread they use for their sandwiches. there is a salad i used to get and they've changed their ingredients a little so i don't like the salad as much anymore, but there are plenty of other options, so i don't mind. read more

Great sandwiches and service. The bread is tasty and I love all the options here. Even if you don't feel like a sandwich you can enjoy a tasty potato stuffed with all kinds of things. I got a simple turkey sandwich and really enjoyed it. Only problem is, I've been here about 3 times when they were closed. Forcing me to go to other sandwich places nearby. Ordered a Cuban and a bbq chicken wrap. Cuban was good but the bbq chicken wrap had BROWN avocado. Brought it to the cashier to show her and she said it was fresh.... over ripened fresh BROWN soggy avocado was mashed throughout the wrap. I used to love this place came in today right as it closed and was refused service. The women behind the counter told me " I Closed" in broken english. She kept the open sign on for several minutes and continued a conversation she was having with a with a male guest. Such a great find! I had never heard of this place and saw it while driving by in the parking lot and thankfully I stopped to try it! It's close to UCR and the freeway, has plenty of parking and was nice and air conditioned on the hot day that I went in. Their menu is actually pretty large! We tried the small Italian sub, tuna melt, chili cheese potato and small pasta salad. All of that with 2 drinks was only $23! Everything was delicious, full of flavor, and clearly extremely fresh. If you've every enjoyed a meal from some of the other sandwich shops in Riverside like Butch's grinders, Backstreet, or Delias, then you MUST give this place a try because they are under the radar but on par with if not above those other places. Disappointed by the staff and the food. After reading all the reviews my family was excited to try this place. However immediately upon entering we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We arrived an hour before closing and were the only ones in the building. The two staff members looked at each other when we walked in and didn't say welcome in or greet us, but noted the time and that they only had 50 minutes til closing. While we were ordering the clerk acted as if we were annoying him in some way. We decided to stay and at least try the food. Not much to write about the food, it was just Ok. However I wonder how much their attitudes played into the quality of the food that was put out. After we finished eating we brought up our concerns about the negative attitude really impacting our experience here. The clerk seemed he couldn't careless. He actually didn't offer an apology, but an excuse. Apparently his behavior was Ok because he had been working all day. To that we said that we would never return, and he said "cool bye".
