I stopped in about 1 on a Tuesday and it was fairly quiet. The staff was very friendly, which is always a huge plus. I ordered the brisket basket, sweet tea, and a red velvet cupcake to go. All the food was made fresh, and they were VERY generous with their portions! I think the brisket was better as a sandwich, but it was a great lunch. I'm excited to try a few other choices next time I'm there, which will be soon! If you're traveling I-75, don't stop at the fast food giants for a meal. Choose a great local spot like this, sit and enjoy homemade food, and know that you're helping a great community when you choose to eat local!

Expecting the crunch of a gizzard, I was disappointed to find the gizzards broken down. A small disappointment overshadowed by the lack of flavor in 4 of the 5 items we tried. I rarely leave food and left half a plate. Not sure if it was the gizzards or the roasted ribs (not smoked folks just do you know), but my wife and I have been physically ill since dinner 6 hours ago. I'm hoping this too shall pass . Bottom line, skip it.

OMG, Cartersville folk listen up!…read more Mike's place has the best sandwich in Cartersville! Walking to Mike's place the first thing that hits you is the smell of the roasting meats in their ovens. The sweet smell of roasting ham and the smell of garlic and spices on the roast beef kicked up my appetite. I ordered a sandwich called the Ferdi. I think it's the best sandwich I ever ate! Served on a soft hoagie roll and stacked with ham, roast beef, shredded cabbage, pickles, a creole mustard and debris. Debris ...You know those little juicy pieces of roast beef at the bottom of the roasting pan... That's "debris" the secrete ingredient in the Ferdi sandwhich that's sets it apart and raises the sandwhich flavor to "over the moon"! Mike Place is a small "hole in the wall" kinda place, one of those hidden jewels. Located at 122 Old Mill Rd. next to the BP gas station in a mostly industrial area. It's worth the time to search this place out. My feeling is that it will be my "go to" place for handcrafted sandwiches.

Mike's Place has all the breakfast essentials, including Louisiana beignets that are topped with powdered sugar, just like the Cafe du Monde. And it just gets better. Burgers and dogs in a variety of fixings, BBQ plates and Po Boys, and a coastal favorite: Shrimp n Grits. They even have hush puppies! Recently I had a craving for a good shrimp bisque. So Chef Mike put on his hat and came up with a half gallon of ecstasy. I had a delicious, authentic shrimp bisque to share with my friends. Mike and Wife Melody, also have special events like a recent crawfish boil on a Friday evening. They offer catering services, and have been know to provide catering in Cartersville for the past 20 years or so. If you want to stop by for breakfast or lunch at unbelievably low prices, you will find Mike's Place tucked away by the BP Station at Old Mill and Erwin Street. You will be glad you did.

We were greeted enthusiastically by the nicest Southern gals. It's a quaint, small town "Meat 'N Three" place. The lot had pickups (great sign) and some local old fellers, about my age , who were wrapping up their afternoon lunch and coffee. All signs pointed to a good experience. The tea was fresh, strong, and hit the table as soon a my narrow butt hit the seat. The food was fast as well. Country fried steak, cole slaw, and mashed potatoes were fine. Graves-homemade. The green beans, greens, pintos (aka soup beans), toast, biscuit, and cobbler were top notch Southern delicacies. Several others were recommended, namely the home fried, fried mac 'n cheese, and fried corn. I mean, based on other reviews, the cheeseburger and chicken biscuit are next on our lists to try. If you have a bad experience here, you're trying hard.

Their meat & vegetable options are amazing. If you order the fried pork chops I recommend getting some brown gravy on them. When you want a refill on your tea, just go to the register and ask. The servers stay busy with walk in/to go orders and delivering food they don't really have time to come back and "check" on you.

They're exactly my style, great smoke flavor, great rub, and while tender they have a bit of a bite to them. Just the way I like it. The Mac and cheese was just like mom makes it, amazing. I got the spicy green beans and they were also tasty. The collards, what can I say, my wife could NOT stop talking about how good the collards greens were they were the first thing gone from her plate. The BBQ sauce was a bit sweet which normally isn't my thing but there is some secret ingredient in there I couldn't put my finger on that made me not be able to resist it. Lastly Michelle is high energy and fun. What a friendly person. Also loved her "Boss Lady" sign, I totally believe it. Great people, great food. If you're ever in town you've gotta swing by. Looking forward to our next trip that way because I really want to try the fried chicken too.

I'm thinking "where" cause this area doesn't look like the part. After riding down the road I started to have my doubts. When I got to the place and walked inside all of my doubts were gone. The smell of fresh burning wood and BBQ smoke made me hungrier than I already was. I was greeted by a very kind-hearted young woman (Part-owner). When I told her how I got there, we both laughed out loud and shared common thoughts on this experience. I ordered the brisket dinner w/Mac&cheese, spicy green beans and corn bread. All I will say is this... When I come back to Cartersville, I will be eating at J's from now on!!!! Man!!!!!!!!
