Boy, such haters on here. . . The Subway is inside a kitchy little country store just off HWY 5 (the long long stretch of wasteland). I found the store to be clean and well organized. The staff of three or four were all friendly and talkative (as opposed to just asking what adds you want). Sure the country store is full of overpriced 'stuff', but again, it was clean and decent. You don't have to buy anything for Pete's sake. We sat outside at one of the very clean tables, to enjoy our sandwiches. They have music piped to the outside as well. And.... funny but very cool... they have a set of three fire hydrants (fake of course) lined up for your pooch to do their duty. read more

This was a lunch and bathroom stop. The Subway is connected to a small country store and fills all of your needs. I was disappointed when we drove up because I didn't want a Sub. I am happy to report that there are 2 hot soup options. Even better, we were told, the long line was for subs only and if all you want is soup you can just go up and pay. I don't usually write reviews for fast food stores because service is pretty perfunctory and the food is usually relatively standardized. Unfortunately, despite my low standards for fast food service, this place managed to blow my expectations away with how poor the service was. Despite it only being 8, one of the workers was busily putting up the chairs on the table, making it seem like they were closing, except they actually close at 9. Furthermore, they were slow to make the orders, with one employee making the food and the other one running around (putting away chairs and whatnot), and only occasionally stopping to come back and help with the orders. When my sandwich seemed to be falling apart, rather than adjust the fillings, the employee just hastily wrapped it up, spewing out pieces of lettuce in the process. I felt like I was simultaneously wasting a lot of time waiting and also getting rushed out. On the bright side, my sandwich tasted good. read more

Nice small clean Subway located in the General Store in Firebaugh. I made it a point not to stop in the McDonald's from hell across the street. It was pretty busy on Friday at noon but the "sandwich makers kept up. After I got my Spicy Italian and Tuna sandwiches the line was long behind me. There are some tables off to the side inside. However, "Pete's Submarines" when spoken aloud sounded too much like "pizza marines," so they changed it to "Pete's Subs," and then eventually to "Subway." =~=~=-=~=~=-=~=~=-=~=~=-=~=~=-=~=~=- This Subway outlet is located, oddly, inside the "Country Store." The crap-shilling Country Store is a strange addition to the landscape. One wouldn't expect to encounter an overpriced, frou-frou gift shop adjacent to a gas station in the middle of nowhere. I had to weave in and out of beer cozies, overpriced dried fruit and Christmas ornaments to get to the Subway counter. Once I got in line, it didn't move an inch. As this was the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, 2013, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. But the line was nearly out the door and didn't move at all in ten minutes. I don't know what was going on, but clearly the store either (a) didn't have enough staff, (b) had a terribly inefficient ordering or sandwich assembly system, or (c) both of the above. I was so hungry and irritable that I left after about 15 minutes of waiting. I ate at the next Subway along I-5 (perhaps 45 minutes away, going south). Given the negative reviews of other restaurants in this town, we were going to keep driving despite the hungry children in the car. Then we saw the Subway signs on the freeway and made a beeline for this place. It has only been open 5 months according to one of the employees, so that probably explains the lack of reviews. We had a great experience. This is a clean, well-lit Subway sandwich shop situated in back of a market called the Country Store, which sells dried fruit, trail mix, drinks, and other food items. The bathrooms are clean. The sandwiches are just what you would expect from a Subway sandwich. They have several tables with plenty of elbow room. The service was solid and friendly. I ended hauling off a bag of super cranberry trail mix in addition to my sandwich and chips. If you are near Panoche Road on I-5 and you are hungry, give this place a try. Northbound travelers don't need to wait until Los Banos. It is right next to the freeway, so it is easy off and easy on. The restaurant is next to the 76 station. read more

A great healthy option for drivers that are passing through! The line for Subway when we got here around noon was ENORMOUS!! I've never seen a line this long before, and unfortunately it moved pretty slow because there were only three workers behind the counter. But it was $5 foot long for all subs!! That was legit, we ordered a foot long club. Good deal, not much seating but we were able to snag a table real quick. The bathrooms here are in the back corner near the fresh fruit and they were very clean considering the location! I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of nice snacks available here as well! =) read more

Pros - Lots of parking in the back - Gas is not that expensive around these parts Cons - Long line It's your standard Subway fare. It's a nice break from the mcdonalds, taco bells, carls jr that you see on the 5. The workers were pretty friendly but there were a lot of people so it took a while. read more

I give this place 3 stars, it was pretty busy but that doesn't exclude giving bad customer service. I had ordered a chicken bacon ranch melt, it was fine at first with the first girl but the other one that did all the veggies and sauces felt like she was rushing me. I didn't even get to finish adding all the things I wanted and she just wrapped my sandwich. My mother even got a BLT there and she did the same thing and my mom had to tell her she wasn't finished. Very disappointed with service. Music was blaring in the Back with dish washer staff. We came at 830 pm. Store closes at 9pm. We ordered food and when we went to pay we were told that we would have to eat elsewhere because they had already cleaned their tables. So I got there at 11pm before the normal lunchtime rush would be and it wasn't too crowded, there were about 10-15 people in line and 3 people working. The line took FOREVER!! It really shouldn't have because there was hardly a line, but we were in line for more than a 1/2 hour!! There were also flies everywhere, the employees were trying to swat them away but they were still getting into all the food. GROSS. Also I ordered the flatbread and every piece she had was broken so I had to get two six inches and the person folding it broke it again so I had a very hard time eating it. It could just be that flat bread breaks easily but the person in front of me got a foot long flat bread fine (note that I had less ingredients in mine, about half as much as hers did )while I got two broken six inches. Also maybe it's just me but their turkey was so dry, all the other subway turkeys were not like this one.... also TIP: they tax you for toasting or heating your sandwich.... read more

The only "good" place to stop for miles. Plus the shop has a mini mart connected to it, so you can stick up for the road.
