Started off nice with them giving me water. Then I had a fun conversation with another dog owner - she was spiritually inclined and blessed. Ordered some food with a nice lady tatted up. Then when I went to my car saw some chocolate booby traps for my puppy which I passed with flying colours. Lastly a nice Kia car pulled up next to me. Nothing but great things to say about this place!

It's a Subway sandwich inside the same building as the Westside Country Store. They are like every other Subway restaurant and offer the same items. There are a few tables to sit at. I am glad they are here vs. not and Subway provides a good break for food on the way back to Sacramento. We dropped by here because there was heavy traffic on I-5 and there is not much around for miles and miles...

Only game in town....well it seems like it. This place gets slammed on a weekend. Not sure if I would wait 20min for a footlong again. Staff does an adequate job of clearing people out but seating is a bit limited too. Your average subway sandwich. Space is shared w/ a country style mini-mart. At least the bathrooms were clean.

Solid dependable subway. Good stopping point for a quick lunch on the road. It is also located in a cool little convenience store.

Terrible customer service. Very slow. Bathrooms closed - can't believe this is a stop along the freeway with bathrooms out of service.

Despite this, service is super friendly and very efficient despite how bustling the restaurant is with almost all tables occupied, people ordering from the kiosks, and just asking staff questions all around. But there's a reason this location has won so many awards. They're great at what they do. We were in and out fairly quickly and the quality of our food was decent for what McDonald's is too. Crisp nuggets, came with the sauces that we need, yummy small portion of fries, and fresh crispy apples. Love that the restaurant itself is decorated and personalized with the fruit balloons and decor to signify the new drinks that they introduced as well as a cute little sign describing each drink. There's also staff shout outs on the wall too. I know this is sort of in the middle of nowhere, so the fact that the staff pulled this off altogether is noteworthy of praise for sure. Feels less corporate and soulless. Wouldn't mind stopping here again.

The guy behind the counter was efficient and polite. The environment is not so good. Strong smell of kitchen / grease when you walk in because there are three restaurants in one very small area. If I remember correctly, you can get hot dogs, pizza or Mexican food. If you don't want your clothes to smell for the rest of your trip, eat outside or in your car. There are no seats outside, just saying. On the day we went, it was in the 40s outside so we stayed inside. The area is part of a building that also houses a convenience store and hosts a gas station. The restrooms are in that area of the building. Large bathrooms so no waiting but just average clean. But, they did have soap and paper towels so that was helpful. If you are going south on the 5, especially at night, you have been driving for a bit without seeing much when you come across this exit. You may not know how much longer you'll be driving for the next sign of civilization. So...you stop. Overall, not that bad but not that great. There are three gas stations there and a couple other eating establishments so, stop if you need to for any of those. But, if you can hold out for another 30 to 45 minutes, I'd suggest waiting...that is, unless you are having a chili cheese craving. In that case, stop and...enjoy!

I have to say they have their systems down pat and they know how to move product and people efficiently. The routine for ordering is like it is anywhere in this chain. Staff are always friendly and on the ball. Things move with precision! We ordered two No.2 meals with grilled onions and I immediately scouted out seating. Making a mad dash when a spot opened I planted myself firmly as a dozen others ran for that spot! The food was as to be expected, always consistently good and better quality than most places for the price. It was quick, satisfying and except for the crowd enjoyable. Oh, and why do so many folks own mega sized trucks and SUVs that barely fit in a parking space? Try navigating a mid-sized sedan between two of those "puppies" and trying to open the door to get out! The other observed, and rather sad, reality is the parking lot for the very long time institution, Andersons Pea Soup, was nearly empty. As we commented, try and convince your kids to have pea soup over a burger! Times have changed.

If this were anywhere else I would probably give 2 stars, but not bad for the options nearby. The brisket is the better of the meats we tried - chicken and tri-tip were the other two. Brisket is quite dry though without BBQ sauce. Chicken is not bad but also needs sauce. Tri-tip was too chewy. Of the sides, potato salad was good. Cornbread was good. S.O. got the mac and cheese and was disappointed. Ran out of horseradish and regular BBQ sauce while we were there. Or the guy just didn't want to get us the regular BBQ? Anyway, had the spicy BBQ which is not very spicy so that was fine. Ordered online which I strongly recommend. But check your order because they forgot the sauces. We were eating there, so I just went back to ask for them, but without the BBQ sauce, the meats would've been so hard to eat. Next to the Shell gas station, Lots of seating around.

Our food actually came out pretty decent. It was hot, tasted fresh, and was put together better than I expected considering how busy it was. The kitchen seemed to be holding it together. But the front of the store? That was rough. The dining area looked like it had been hit by a hurricane. Tables weren't cleaned, trash was building up, and the straw/soda station was sticky and messy. There were a lot of people standing around trying to order. The manager was loudly telling customers they wouldn't be served for a while and should just use the kiosks. That didn't exactly calm the crowd. There was confusion, frustration, and a pretty tense atmosphere overall. Bottom line -- good food and an easy app experience, but the front-of-house operations and cleanliness need serious attention. With better organization and some basic cleaning, this place could be a lot better.

Eventually, I went in and asked for a refund because 30 minutes is too long to wait for a drive-thru order from a "fast food" establishment. Today, there was literally no one in the drive-thru line, so we figured it would be okay since it's the only place to stop. Also, I hopped out of the car to run inside to use the restroom and there was hardly anyone inside either. Well, we were wrong. Same story. Went through the drive-thru and were told to wait at spot number 1 for our order. After 10 minutes, and after 2 other cars parked next to us got their orders and left, we figured we should go ask for an update on our order. They claimed they had already given us our order already, which was curious since we didn't have it. They gave our order to another car parked in a different numbered spot. They didn't apologize at any point for the mistake. We asked for a refund and left. It's really unfortunate because McDonald's breakfast might be the only fast food indulgence I'll allow myself while on a roadtrip.Their fresh hot hashbrown are my favorite but after experiences like this, it's highly unlikely I'll return.
