This is your pretty standard subway. I don't think I've been to a subway in more than 10 years. A friend of mine wanted to get Moe's, which is co-located with this location. I did see on the subway menu that there were daily specials. So I opted for the daily special which includes a bag of chips, a drink, and a 6 inch sub. Comes out to about nine dollars. You can also upgrade for a few extra dollars. Staff was quick and friendly. I will say though, this sandwich did not leave me wanting more. I got the sweet onion chicken and while the sandwich was fine, it was nothing special. This place is convenient though for those in the area. read more

Since my decision in 2011 to become fast-food-free, I think I've only stepped inside a fast food restaurant maybe 5 times (and most of those times were to use the restroom). Therefore it may seem strange to some that I visit a subway let alone rate 5-stars. Here's the rationale and the back story: Our organization hosted a conference earlier in the month and arranged for a catering entity to provide the food for one of the working lunches. We ordered a tray of submarine sandwiches for 32 and when we picked up the order we were surprised at how little food there was. The entity assured is the trays would feed 32. Once we set up the lunch it became apparent from the results after half of our conference participants were still waiting in line, that we were going to run out of food and fast. I jumped in my vehicle and raced to this Subway which was the closest food source. I ordered 6 sub sandwiches cut in 4ths and the staff was so helpful. I was deathly afraid that my ordering 6 subs would anger the other people in line behind me, but it didn't happen thanks to the manager. She jumped in and took over making subs for the customers behind me while the rest of the staff focused on filling my large order with lightning speed. I love to see high performance teamwork in action and this ballet of sub making perfection truly gave me such a huge appreciation for these amazing employees who surged and came through for me. I will always be grateful to them for their incredible kindness and customer service. The lunch? Was successfully rescued and the sandwiches were greatly appreciated and everything was consumed without leftovers. We certainly had 32 happy and full-tummied participants! Great service at Hickam Shoppette Subway. 3-4 employees who work quickly and keep the line moving. Standard Subway. Tastes exactly like you would expect, which is delicious! But not in world's greatest sandwich competition I had the Subway Club which is Turkey, Ham and Roast Beef. For $10.69 for a foot long, not bad pricing either! I have been disappointed at this subway multiple times. The guy that works there named Alorian shouldn't be working there. He has never made me a single good sandwich. He barely puts any meat or veggies in, cuts the bread horribly and wraps the sandwiches in a way where they fall apart. Not to mention they start closing up 30+ minutes early so nothing is displayed and it takes forever to make the food. I've finally had enough of this location. read more

Was getting gas and decided to stop in for lunch. They had a poster on the right advertising their new sandwhich "the monster" and it really caught my eye. I placed my order and the lady was looking at the poster for reference, as it had the ingredients listed on it. Unfortunately the ingredients were the only thing she was looking at, as my sandwhich came nowhere near as being advertised. I was watching her skimp on all of the ingredients as she was making the sandwich. This was nowhere near a "monster" of a sandwhich. I love that it is located on base and practically a stone's throw from our home. If you're in a hurry for lunch, getting to the beach and/or need something in a pinch...its right there! Plus, if you need sandwiches for parties, etc. they work with you and your needs and that is greatly appreciated. The line normally moves super quick during busy times as well (like lunch) compared to the BX. I am still giving them 5 stars since "things happen", but I will tell you that sometimes there is a woman working in there that isn't very nice. Perhaps this is the same person that has been addressed in previous posts. At least you are forewarned. read more

When I go to subway I'm not looking for prime service, but I expect to not feel like I'm a bother to the workers! I came in at around 8:45pm on Sunday and I knew my order prior. The 2 young filipino girls looked at me like I was a pain in their ass. They rushed through my order (which was RUDE and surprising considering I'm fast to order), skimped on the lettuce, talked to me in a condescending voice, and threw my sandwich together like they didn't give a poop. The damn thing looked like it threw up when I opened the package and I had to reassembled it (looks like I can work at subway too now). No "thank you", no "have a good night", NOTHING. They just went back to talking and cleaning their stations. Maybe these girls need a pay raise, maybe their manager needs to make their work enviornment more fun, I don't know. I get that you hate your job, I get that out was late and you wanna just go home. I work in a restaurant too, so trust me when I say: I FEEL WHERE YOU'RE COMING FROM. But understand that when you are ON THE CLOCK, GETTING PAID.....BE NICE. Smile a little, jeeze. Not a very nice experience. It's Subway. You know what you're going to get. The foot long can range from 10" to 12". The toasted sub can come out lightly toasted to slightly over toasted. The meats and cheeses are always precise (pretty much regardless of location), which makes it "A-OK" with me. Best part of this location, comparative to other Subway's, is they don't skimp on the veggies. It's not "olives, more olives, extra olives, and a few more olives." If you ask for "extra olives," or "extra pickles," you're rewarded with "extra" the first time. read more

I've been to this location a few times now at various times of the day to include lunch and dinner rush and I am very impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff as well as the cleanliness of the location. Also important to note, when its busy I have noticed that not only does the line move fast, but staff who may normally just be manning the cash register will jump in to help, but they will also ensure proper food handling procedures and put on and remove their gloves (new gloves) at the appropriate time(s) to ensure that no one is getting sick, etc. read more

Showed up to eat at 8:20pm, they were already pre-closing for 9pm. Worker named Evangeline was super RUDE. She continued to close up before even acknowledging me and a friend. Gave us attitude when asking what we wanted on our sandwich, she messed up a simple order and acted irritated when we corrected her. I've worked for corporate companies so I know what it's like, but that's no excuse for a nasty attitude. If you can't handle your job, quit. read more

I know, i'm rating a subway, haha. But this is probably one of my favorite subways on the island due to how fast they move and how good they make my hoagies. I work right down the street sure, but I've been to other subways on the island. They move fast here. Though one time the guy rolled his eyes at me. I was born in Philadelphia, I'm so used to ordering my food fast. Foot long, Italian Herb and Cheese, Cold Cut, Pepper Jack, Baked, Lettuce tomatoe cucumbers, salt pepper mayo. All in one sentence. I know, I'm a jerk, I should slow down. I deserved the eyes being rolled. The Philadelphia in me probably will never die. read more

This review is for the Subway at the Hickam Kuntz mini mall. Shout out to Melissa & Jocel for providing such AWESOME service! I had previously inquired about their catering menu and had decided just to walk in and purchase 15 of the $6 footlongs for my party that afternoon. They were not busy at the time and Melissa was very helpful. She actually helped me run the cost again and we worked out that getting the party platters would in truth be a better deal, especially with the "Save 10% on your order when paying with your STAR card" promo offer! She wasn't put out at all about my not calling in with 24 hours for a party platter, she cheerily proceeded to call Jocel over and pull out 4 trays. I was in need of many sandwiches! :) She made every effort to ensure that I had a quality selection of different breads and meats, even offered the dressings on the side for my guests to choose from. Less than an hour later I was out the door with my 4 large platters and ready to party. THANK YOU Melissa! I'll definitely look for you the next time I'm in. read more

Letter I wrote to corporate: After working a 12 hr shift at the nearby hospital, my husband and I stopped by to grab some sandwiches for dinner. I've been to this store multiple times due to the nearby location to our house, but I've always noticed that the workers were either emotionless or visibly unhappy every time. I would continue to eat there anyways because my order was always correct and it satisfied my hunger without destroying my diet. This most recent visit has caused me to no longer be a patron at that store. From the minute I walked up to the counter, I was met with negative attitude. I proceeded to place my order with a smile, not allowing the negativity to affect my hunger. It wasn't until my husband and my orders were complete, that the "negative Nancy" stated that the credit card machine did not work. She also proceeded to tell us that it hadn't worked since the last customer. No apology was included. When my husband asked her why she didn't tell us before we completed our orders, she gave no answer, just continued to look at us as if we were a waste of her time. Neither of us had any cash on hand, so I was unable to partake in a Subway sandwich and had to go somewhere else entirely since the ATM on site was not working. This Subway is located on a military base. Myself and many other customers, in uniform, throughout the day eat at this establishment. It is utterly heartbreaking to know that in a location that exclusively caters to military service members, a majority of your workers have no problem treating their customers as if they are nothing. I believe that something should be done to improve the attitude and/or morale in this location. A simple smile and apology is all I would have wanted, but instead I was met with dispassionate eyes and a callous attitude. read more

I eat here probably once a week or more and love the location of this particular shop because I can walk there from my house. However, the people who work here are very unpleasant. The manager yells at the employees in front of customers, the employees (all but one) do not greet you when you come to the counter. In fact, they say nothing at all. It's the most unpleasant ordering experience I've had since I moved here three years ago. I will drive to a different location from now on just so I don't have to deal with the people at this store. read more
