This restaurant chain was nostalgic for us as we…read moreused to live in a town that had a Foster's Grille, and our kids' swim team would often go there after meets. Now, many years later, we were excited to find that a Foster's Grille was on-route for us as we traveled between central Virginia and north-central West Virginia. Food (rating: 4/5). Patrons customize their orders by filling out a "ticket" at the counter; meals are delivered to your table. My husband ordered a 1/4 lb. Charburger combo, which included fries and a self-serve 12-oz (refillable) fountain drink. His free customization included lettuce, tomato, pickle, and grilled onions. Other free options included mayo, ketchup, onion, relish, jalapeños, hot sauce, and bbq sauce. Additional options, including cheeses, bacon, chili, and mushrooms, were available for a modest up-charge ($0.95 to $1.25 each). I ordered a Foster's salad with grilled chicken, with honey mustard dressing. (There was a choice of 6 dressings). We split our entrees, and everything was very good and as remembered. As for the burger, it was tasty but the 1/4-lb burger was overwhelmed by the size of the bun. Next time, we would order the 1/2-pounder to avoid that problem. The salad was also tasty, featuring a nice mix of salad greens, 4 wedges of fresh tomatoes, croutons, sunflower seeds, cheddar cheese, and the grilled chicken. We were impressed with the mixture of greens, and the fact that the packet of salad dressing was nonfat. As the chicken was sliced quite thinly, it was somewhat dry. Each entree was a good value, at $9-sometime each before taxes and tip. Ambiance. (3/5). We sat at a booth table that was comfortable and clean. Our main issue was that the rock music was much too loud. Service (4/5). We only interacted with staff at the counter (taking our order) and the server who brought our food. In both cases, staff were efficient and got the job done but neither was particularly friendly (nor unfriendly). Location. (5/5). This stop is very convenient for anyone connecting to I-66 westbound after having traveled north along 17. Parking was sufficient and free.

I started using…read moretheir odd ordering system, where you fill out your own slip of paper to select what you want, and I noticed there was no way to indicate the desired temperature for your burger. I asked the person at the counter if they cooked burgers to temperature, and he said they did, so I wrote it down. I indicated that I wanted my burger medium-rare and saw the employee take a marker to highlight it and write in big, bold, blue letters "Medium Rare" so it was clear. It took more than twenty minutes for my order to come out, and it was well done. They offered to recook it, but I didn't have another twenty minutes to wait, so I asked for a refund. They did not know how to issue the refund, however, and had to call someone to walk them through it because there was clearly no one in management available. They told me they think they did it, but the point-of-sale system wouldn't print a receipt showing proof that it was refunded. After spending more time on the phone, they figured out how to print a receipt that didn't state it was refunded, but merely indicated that the transaction was "voided". All in all, it took forty minutes when they weren't busy for me to walk out without anything other than being hungry (hopefully I get the refund).

Chef's kiss, and well worth the drive from DC…read more Field & Main has this special, hard-to-find energy: elevated farm-to-table meets country, without an ounce of pretension. From the moment we sat down, I was handed a personalized menu noting my birthday -- and truly, details matter. We started with a few apps, delicious cocktails, and of course, their wine program is out of this world, really showcasing the beauty of Virginia wine. You can't go wrong here. The smash burger was a hit, and I especially loved the asparagus and gazpacho. It felt like a little adventure around the farm, with a serious slam dunk on comfort food. Best part: they didn't flinch when I mentioned my allergies. They went out of their way to curate dishes for me, even off-menu, which I appreciated so much. Anytime you're in wine country or just desperate to escape the concrete jungle for a meal this is your place.

Can I always do this?? The two of us had our own little air conditioned quiet chamber just for us! Our waiter a star: accommodating, informative, funny. I had a glass of their house tannat while my girlfriend went for a mango cocktail which she really enjoyed. To start, we had gazpacho (really a serving for one), the tomato peach burrata (creamy to the point of heavenly), and a mixed green salad (as it sounds). She took cauliflower shawarma as her main in a close call over the apparently awesome trout, but she really enjoyed it. I had the grilled pork chop and was completely knocked out by it. Cooked sous vide to start and then finished in pan, it was loaded with flavor especially with the various sauces and chutneys garnishing. We then had a bit of late harvest wine and decaf espresso for dessert. This was a superlative experience in every way and we will gladly keep making this drive!

Friendly and helpful service from the young lady who took our order. We waited about 5-7 minutes for our food. Double Cavern Burger with cheese, single Cavern Burger with cheese (extra pickles), chicken tenders, large fries and two types of frozen custard. Custard was delicious. One of us ordered a single vanilla on a waffle cone. Dude must have put in extra, because it was HUGE. The triple scoop s'mores frozen custard wasn't so big, but it was creamy and tasty. Burgers and chicken were greasy, not in a good way. Lots of oil at the bottom of the chicken cup. Double Cavern buns were soaked in oil. Other than the oil, the meat was good. Plenty of toppings, even adding a good amount for extra pickles.

Three fingers with fries, and a club sandwich meal was $22.70 including all taxes. The weird thing is that it still feels like the old Burger King when you go in. The graphics on the walls have changed, but the physical interior is still the same. On one hand, I can't blame the owner for not spending a money to swap perfectly good stuff out. However, for me, it was a bit of disappointment walking in, thinking to myself "This still is just like Burger King inside.".

I had a takeaway order from Layne's Chicken Fingers. Their chicken fingers look more like chicken…read moretenders or chicken strips than chicken fingers. Their chicken has a delicious breading and a great taste. I'm not a fan of their fries. they are nothing special. Layne's thin white gravy has a good taste and so does their Texas toast. It may be called Layne's toast and not Texas toast, I didn't ask. I like their takeaway order being in one box, although it is a rather long box for what little is inside. Back to the taste of the food, which is what you are interested in, not the size of their takeaway box or the name of their toasted bread. I like their chicken. For me, their chicken has a great taste and by the time I bring it home and open the long box the chicken is warm and the fries are cold. Their takeaway service is nothing special, not in Warrenton, but eventually they will have your order ready, maybe. Price is expense but so are the other fast food chicken locations. I recommend you give Layne's a try and decide for yourself.

A review long overdue!…read more Unfortunately, our experience at 2 Kyles was not great; super disappointing, since there were so many positive reviews on this place! We came to check this place out for lunch, and we ordered: +the Jones Beach sandwich - described as a vegetarian option, this sandwich had eggplant, provolone, roasted tomatoes, red peppers, pesto, and a red pepper-feta spread; the bread used were extremely stale and was not the focaccia bread as it was then stated on their menu; at first, we thought it was toasted, but it was not; also, the sandwich was missing ingredients, such as the roasted tomatoes (but the menu seemed to be updated since then) + the cheesesteak cigars - came with a horseradish dipping sauce; these were not heated all the way through and came out lukewarm/cold +a pizza with half mushrooms and half cheese - we love stinky and strong cheeses, but this had a very unpleasant odor to it that we were unable to eat it We did ask for a to-go box, which took some time to receive; the staff didn't seem to care nor interested in how everything was; when we were leaving, no one was available at the front. On the other hand, the owners seem to really care about their customers' experience and feedback, and we appreciated this - not sure if we'll ever be in the area again to give them another try. Street parking can be found in the area. +inattentive and disinterested staff +inaccurate menu descriptions on food items +lukewarm/cold orders +avoid the flatbreads/pizzas +parking in the area
