Do not come to this Subway. The male here is sooo rude he'll piss you off. My recommendation go elsewhere.

(My old shotgun apartment was sold and torn down to make way for another high-rise Tower that was never built and now there's a big grassy field where my place used to be). My memory is that Russell started with more conventional diner menu, but his since specialized in a New Orleans way. A large variety of egg benedict options now headlines the menu. There are also some creative omelets, including one with fried oysters and remoulade sauce. I was going to get one of those but I kept seeing these delightful fluffy looking pancakes coming out of the kitchen. I opted instead for a short stack and a breakfast sandwich. The pancakes were perfect, tasting is good as they looked. The breakfast sandwich was on grilled bread like a panini with egg and bacon. Tasty. Hash browns or small nuggets of potato, not the best but preferable to the shredded potato hash browns at say Waffle House. Coffee with hot fresh and refilled frequently. Sitting at the bar, I was across from the fresh orange juice station. After staring at a pitcher of fresh weezed orange juice as I ate, I had to get some. That was great, and the generous portion wasn't served in a thimble-sized glass. The atmosphere is loud and convivial. On a Saturday morning is mostly locals. Special mention for the friendly service. The wait staff work together and seem like long timers. They recognize the number of customers as regulars as they came in. That's the kind of atmosphere you can't make up or buy from Sysco. Five stars, because diners like this are getting harder to find in Russell's distinguishes itself with some truly unique dishes.

It's messy in the best way possible and exactly what you want after a long day (or night) in the city. I also love that they're open 24/7, which makes it such a clutch spot no matter the time--late night, early morning, whenever the craving hits. No-frills, iconic, and seriously satisfying--definitely a must-try in NOLA!

I met the owner and he was as sweet as can be with his southern charm. I ordered the shrimp po boy and fries and a egg breakfast sandwich to go. The fries were good with salt and pepper seasoning but there was a lot of fries! The sandwich would've been enough. I will say I planned on ordering food here no matter what but my total was around $45 so keep that in mind, the price can come for you quick! That is my main quip. They had a bunch of options such as lasagna, chicken, and different kinds of cooked fish The store is kind of tight so not recommended for someone who's handicapped. They're open 24/7 so I'm sure it can be a good place to pick up something good once you leave Bourbon Street!

Yes it's a small Italian deli and shop but it's also the home of the original muffuletta sandwich, opening in 1906. I hate olives, but I was converted by this sandwich. I…read morenever ever write reviews because I believe they hurt small businesses and feeds the egos of the ignorant, but that being said this place pissed me the fuck off with their service. I come to central deli whenever I'm with someone not from New Orleans due to the fact their muffuletta is quintessential! I would like to reiterate nothing was wrong with the food , great food purely with the lady taking orders. I got a classic half muffuletta and a "glass" San pellegrino. The lady then told me open glass is prohibited in New Orleans , I retorted with "o really I didn't know that , since when?" Before I could finish The lady then yelled with "SINCE FOREVER, IM SORRY YOUVE BEEN TO BAD BARS WHERE THEY SERVE YOU GLASS ITS BEEN ILLEGAL SINCE THE 50s" which isn't true the city changed the law in 2001. She then proceeded to open my glass bottle even though I told her I didn't want it open, so I the asked if I could get another one since she was in rage mode and didn't understand that she just contradicted herself. As I asked for the second San Pellegrino, she then takes the first one and goes "NO PROBLEM THANKS FOR THE FREE DRINK", and starts to drink the San Pellegrino infront of me as I check out, making thirst quenching noises like "AHH". As I leave she can't help but remind me for her free drink again. I'm pretty sure the management witness this whole situation and I hope they do something about, that lady doesn't realize what hospitality is and needs to be fired. I did nothing to her and I bet I wasn't the first she has blow up on. But in my eyes absolutely unacceptable.

I had an iced lavender latte and cinnamon roll pancakes. Very yummy and large portions. I also took a photo of my friend's hot chicken and pancakes. She said it was pretty spicy. Several people at the table shared Brussels sprouts, which they raved about. I got a Sopapilla donut to go. The ice cream case was intriguing but we were headed to a museum so that was a no go to take with.

I stopped by because I seen an ad in the window for a turkey sausage biscuit and a honey chicken…read morebiscuit, and they both looked like really good options, so I figured I'd give them a try. The place is super cute inside with nice decor and plenty of spots to sit down. They have two different lines--one for to-go and one for dine-in. I went to the to-go side since I was taking my food with me, but then I noticed the eggs. They had this little oven behind the register where they were making these folded/frozen looking eggs for the to-go orders. The menu said "scrambled," and I really didn't want a frozen egg on my sandwich. When I mentioned it, the staff was actually great. They explained that the to-go line is meant to be fast for people working downtown, but they were happy to send my order to the main kitchen to get a fresh egg instead. The biscuit and the turkey sausage looked like they might be made in-house. The biscuit was huge--honestly, you can't even pick it up. I had to use the fork and knife they gave me and just eat it piece by piece. The turkey sausage was a miss for me. It was very heavy on herbs--I'm not sure if it was basil, thyme, or oregano, but it was just a flavor I didn't care for in a breakfast sausage. Also, while I was cutting into it, I hit some kind of ligament or gristle in the meat that I couldn't cut through. That kind of turned me off, so I ended up stopping about halfway through... The donuts I got a couple of the creative ones (Cereal & Milk and Banana Pudding) for some family. They looked really good and the family said they enjoyed them! My total came out to $38 for the biscuit, two donuts, two small cups of milk, and a medium iced coffee. The coffee was a bit small--the "medium" looked almost the same size as the small milk. It might just be the typical pricing for the downtown area, but it definitely adds up! Overall, the people were nice and the atmosphere is cool, but the turkey sausage just didn't align with my taste buds. I'd probably go back and try something else next time just to give them another shot! *noticed box says handcrafted*
