I've always enjoyed the menu here, but during the COVID-19 shift, the process hit a major snag. When I walked in expecting to grab a couple of sandwiches, I found out everything had to go through the app. No big deal--I downloaded it and placed the order right there. However, here's where the frustration set in: The Wait: I wasn't told it would take nearly 45 minutes for my order. The Math: I was standing right there in the shop, and for two simple turkey sandwiches, a 45-minute wait felt excessive--especially with what looked like a full house of staff working behind the counter. I'm a fan of their food, but this particular visit was a major test of patience. Since this happened during the throes of the pandemic, has anyone been back recently? I'm curious if the ordering process has smoothed out and if the speed is back to what it used to be.

They also didn't grill my banana peppers and jalapeño peppers with my steak as I asked. They laid the peppers on the top of the steak and they tasted cold and nasty against the steak. There's a difference between flavorful and flooded. Then came the second mix-up with the falafel salad... which came out as a falafel sandwich To their credit, they let us keep it at no cost and remade the salad , but that added even more wait time. Unfortunately, neither the sandwich nor the salad really hit. More specifically, the falafel itself just wasn't good. And as people who genuinely love salads, and like falafel, this one just didn't deliver The samosas were actually flavorful , but they didn't include the green sauce shown on the menu--and they lacked that crisp I'd expect. A little disappointing. And the fries... we asked for them well done, but they came out soft and soggy In my disappointment, I didn't even take photos . The setting is also a bit shabby compared to the Peekskill location, but I get it may not be what they're aiming for. All in all, it was a mixed experience. I didn't catch the nice lady's name at the register, but she was very pleasant--greeted me with a smile and a warm welcome. She even took a moment to compliment my hooded sweatshirt from the Hudson Valley Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics . I then asked if they could add Cajun seasoning to my fries, and without hesitation, Jocelyn said "absolutely" with a smile . Carlos took care of it right away and handed them back--no attitude, no problem at all . On top of that, the place was very clean. The floors were spotless, everything was well-stocked, and the whole environment felt organized and welcoming. I've been to other Five Guys locations where peanuts are all over the place and things can feel a bit messy, but this one was the complete opposite--nice and clean all around . That kind of customer service is rare these days. From the friendly greeting at the register to Jocelyn and Carlos going out of their way to help, the whole team made me feel comfortable and appreciated . However, this has happened multiple times, and at this point it feels like there's a lack of care when it comes to getting orders right. When ordering slices online, there is no way to select the type of slice you want (you have to leave your request in the comments). If they don't have what you asked for, instead of calling to confirm, they will ignore part of your order and send whatever is easiest--or, if you're "lucky," they'll take a pre-made plain slice, throw on toppings to get it as close as possible, reheat it, and send it without ever checking with you. What made this worse was their response when I called. I was told they didn't need to confirm the order because it was placed online and already paid for, so they would just give me what they had. The lack of communication and accountability is incredibly frustrating, and it honestly makes me regret giving them another chance after previous mistakes with my order. Also, despite advertising no delivery fee, they charge both a delivery fee and a convenience fee. TL;DR: If you want the best chance of getting what you actually ordered, place your order in person.
