We were in plain sight of everyone so we didn't know whether our server was on a break and didn't get their table covered or what but we just got up and left. It was so uncomfortable to be in a room of people and just completely ignored, and it was relatively embarrassing to get up and leave after other customers just stared at us waiting for any kind of acknowledgement. We had been here many times before this instance so we decided to try it again recently and it was very disappointing. The table and booth were so sticky, there was just a general layer of dirt-film over everything in our booth. Our server had to come back to our table multiple times to get our breakfast order put into the kitchen (one trip for potato choice, one trip for eggs and I still didn't even get the right kind, one trip for toast, one trip for the meat, I felt like I was being punk'd), the food was extremely underdone but somehow took forever to prepare so I really just had toast and coffee for breakfast (almost raw hashbrowns, raw onions, barely melted cheese) and it was over $50 for two of us to have breakfast with a tip. When we moved here three years ago it was one of our solid spots for a bite to eat but I don't think I'd go back again after the last two experiences. We thought the first instance was a fluke when we weren't served or even greeted after we were sat but now the food isn't really worth going back for. Used to feel like a place to bring family and now it just has a very different vibe. Servers were nice and it's got potential to reign it back in but I can't say I'll be holding my breath. Really sad to see such a decline.

My expectations were very low. I am thrilled to report that Ruby's exceeded all of my expectations with a pleasant place to eat, fantastic service and quality food at a very affordable price. Jackpot! In this small restaurant, we saw what seemed to be a large number of locals. They have a very strong breakfast selection that is offered all day long. Since we were there at lunchtime, we decided to focus of the lunch offerings. My wife had the chicken salad, which was artfully arranged. The Chicken Salad comes with mayo, celery, onion, mixed lettuce, dried cranberries, fresh apples, mandarin oranges and poppyseed dressing., as well as an English muffin for $15. My wife thought it was one of the best chicken salads she has had! I ordered the Clubhouse Sandwich which came with lettuce, turkey, ham, bacon, cheddar, tomato and mayo on Texas toast, as well as a side of excellent fries for $16. Honestly, if this place was closer to us, I'd be here at least once a week, maybe more! I very highly recommend Ruby's.

I immediately started looking at coffee shops that I could relocate to in order to work. I had been wanting to go try Smiths for a while but the opportunity just never presented itself despite being just down the road. I arrived and the driveway leading to the parking lot was lined with cars, but I was able to find a spot in the parking lot after a minute or so. It was definitely a full lot for sure. The location is absolutely adorable as this is a historic house. It was once a Dunn Brothers, but I do love that it is its own thing now rather than a chain. They had a outdoor patio that people were enjoying but it was a bit chilly for working and sitting outside, one person even had a dog which I LOVE! Inside the front door you are greeted with a welcoming counter that you can order. I opted to try the salted caramel iced latte. If you are consuming there (which I was) they give you a number to bring to your table and they bring the drink. I really liked this idea especially in the aspect of not having to stand and wait for a drink. The price was a bit high (7.55 for a 16 oz with $1 tip), but then again everything is getting expensive these days. I walked back to the seating area and there are essentially 3 rooms downstairs, I walked through all 3 to see where working would be ideal. I went upstairs but there was a woman in the room so I assumed it was a group that was meeting or something so I opted to not investigate further. I found seating downstairs in what felt like the quietest part, but there were a lot of people there talking and the acoustics were not exactly fantastic. I did have a call which I took via teams and air pods and discovered the sound in the room was actually really not awesome for a meeting as it was quite loud and the wifi was not strong enough to support the video on the teams call. So would I recommend working from Smith, not if you have a meeting, but if you are looking for a place that has some background noise, I guess... However this is certainly a place that is perfect for meeting someone and enjoying breakfast or coffee and I love that. I did not order food this time, but everything I saw get delivered looked delicious. I also noticed they have a pizza night on Thursday nights and immediately made a note of that for a date night with the hubby.

Being from the south, I do love my biscuits and gravy, and this did not disappoint. The biscuits are fluffy and tender, and taste like my grandmother's. The sausage gravy was rich and delicious with plenty of sausage pieces and just the right amount of thick, savory gravy. I ordered the side of bacon crispy, and it was, and the gravy comes in a container on the side. However, the hashbrowns topped with eggs, and the biscuit were together in one container while my bacon was in a smaller one. I didn't want sausage gravy on my hashbrowns or my eggs, but it was easy enough to swap the bacon and the biscuit and put the biscuit in the little container where I could cover it with gravy and devour it. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon was nice and crispy (you check a box if you want it crispy) and the hashbrowns were very tasty. All in all, I highly recommend this spot near Eden Prairie, and I look forward to dining there in the future.

In 1993 they were acquired by Bill Kirkpatrick, who would move the operation across the border to Shakopee, MN (near the Twin Cities). I was craving a cup of mocha coffee, which led me to discovering their Dark Chocolate Mocha blend at one of my local grocery stores. It's a light roasted blend of 100% arabica coffee with a rich dark chocolate flavor that brews smooth and creamy. Initially I was hesitant to pick it up because of the dark chocolate descriptor as I feared it would be overly bitter, but thankfully it was not. Rather than a quotidian cup of coffee, this mocha coffee changes things up and hits nicely during cooler winter months.
