Ive been to many OPH's before, but this was a first for this EP location. My husband and I both sat at the bar (a pro-tip for small groups of like 1-3). We ordered the salmon scramblers with hashbrowns & they tasted great, but looks horrid lol. They were a bit too wet in the middle, and felt uncooked.. we joked that we couldnt look at the food while eating, but it was actually really tasty! Im not sure if presentation could be changed, but just not what we expected! We loved our server, she was kind and filled our coffee's super quick! I had a meeting here with a good friend, and this is an established breakfast spot that is very well-known. It actually has been a favorite of mine for over 20 years, so it was great to return. I used to live much closer. I had the Meat Lovers omelette today. It was delicious as I knew it would be. This location has some of the best bacon you'll ever eat anywhere. The service is always first rate and today we were blessed to have Jamie as our server. She was so fun and I was buying and we did a bit of a joke on my friend so that he wouldn't be able to refuse my gift to him. I told Jamie that I thought many people would return to have her as their server. She was great. This place continued to exceed my expectations in every way, and is one of the best places for breakfast in the entire Twin Cities. I lived in the area for five years, when I drive by the thing to note is this place is almost always seem to have a packed parking lot. Finally indulging for no good reason - I understand why. Seating is reasonable, I've been to some places where you're six inches from your neighbor - yikes. The bathroom and overall it seems clean - it doesn't smell like a grease diner. Breakfast WAS delicious and delivered very promptly despite it being busy. Our waiter was absolutely on point, refilling water and coffee to our bellies content. We wanted for nothing. The food was fresh and mostly hot - pancakes are fluffy and great lived up to the name. For two adults and one child plus a solid tip for the great service ... was over $80 - be ready for that or be price conscious when you're looking at the menu. I don't actually eat pancakes, so I had my favorite Corned Beef Hash and two eggs. Surprisingly, they came on separate plates, so I slid the eggs onto my hash and gave the server the extra plate. Delicious, as always. RC ordered the steak and eggs and demolished his. Grand JE ordered pancakes and devoured his short stack and four glasses of milk. Boy loves milk. It's always busy but especially on weekends, so we were prepared to wait, but it was only 10 minutes. I wasn't disappointed and my daughter loved her crepes and hash browns but the service - oh my... our server kind of disappeared on us. My wife and I were looking for a late breakfast and struck out at the Mall of America. We stumbled onto TOPH as it was right across the freeway from where we were staying. The restaurant was packed, but there were two seats open at their walkup bar. The person managing service behind the counter was Ashley. It was shear entertainment watching her interact with her customers. She was hilarious. We got our food and it was great, but the experience was priceless. We returned the next day and I had the Caramel Banana French Toast. It, of course, was awesome, but the true joy was hanging with Asley and her gang of regulars. Sat down at the Original Pancake House first thing is first the table is extreamly uneven everytime I would move my arms the table would tip and almost spill my drink. Walls at my very uneven table are very nasty and dirty if the walls are dirty what's that say about the kitchen ? I ordered a cherry coke I'm not sure what she braught me but it was not cherry coke, i did ask her twice to make sure she had cherry coke she assured me she did, however what I recieved was coke with grenadine . I asked for somthing different but I don't think she herd me. I ordered my potato pancake full order I asked for extra sourcream and applesauce but didn't get it. After I asked for my extra sour cream and applesauce I asked for some butter she braught it to me set it on the table and the table move enough to spill my drink she was so focused on another table she didn't realize she did it . When I tell you that I set my breakfast/brunch standards high, I am telling you, they are HIGH. Plus, I am not a morning person. So if I am getting up and getting myself presentable enough to make it out for breakfast, it better not disappoint. OPH does not disappoint, EVER. It sounds crazy to think that I could eat something as specific as banana pancakes on a monthly (borderline biweekly) basis without getting sick of them but it is the honest truth. The service is just as fantastic as the food. Staff are always super personable, and SPEEDY fast. Be sure to go online and get on the waitlist ahead of time because unfortunately the amazing-ness of this place is not a secret to locals. This is the FIRST place I bring any out of town visitors to and don't have the words to describe how much I love OPH. This place was amazing from min one. The best customer service I think I have received EVER!!! Right away, we were greeted we had a small wait but 1000% worth it. The waitress we had was Ashley, I think, and she was the product of customer service. LONG gone. I almost didn't want to leave. It felt like I was in a time warp to the 50s in the best way possible. The food was incredible!! I'm a little picky and tested my limits with my substitutions, which normally gets me major attitude, but not this time, she was welcome to the challenge. This was our first time at an Original Pancake House, and we were very disappointed. We were visiting from out of state and were looking for a good breakfast. We joined the waitlist while still at our hotel and then drove to the location. When we got there, we still had some time to kill, so we sat in the car. I received a text when we got on the wait list, and was told we would get a text when our table was ready. It also said something about talking to the hostess, but I assumed that it meant once we got the text for our table, as that normally is what happens at home. We waited and never received a text but yet were bumped off the waitlist. We decided to head inside to see what was up. When we walked in, we were behind a couple talking to the hostess, which was absolutely no problem. There were 3 other staff members at the host stand. However, none of them acknowledged us. After the hostess talked with the couple in front of us for over 3+ minutes, an older man who had walked in after us got helped by the hostess, and we were not acknowledged at all. Then, another couple walked in, and another staff member helped them. Once we talked to the hostess, she told us we had to check in with her once we arrived, otherwise they would take us off the waitlist (which was never mentioned), but she could "squeeze us in". Overall, just from walking in, I already had a bad taste in my mouth, but I was trying to put it all aside. Then, the food. I was incredibly disappointed! It was totally not worth the price at all! I ordered their apple juice, eggs with cheese, and bacon plate, with blueberry pancakes, and an order of hashbrowns. When I tell you it was one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had. The eggs were a little runny for scrambled eggs, and the American cheese was an additional $1.75! Then, I got 3 slices of their bacon (which was nothing special) and could have been a bit crispier. That was $16.25! Not including the upcharges for the blueberry pancakes and the cheese! That is insane, but it gets worse. My blueberry pancakes were some of the worst pancakes I've ever had, and my girlfriend agrees. They were bitter, almost like there was too much baking powder or soda in them. I thought at first it was just something wrong with me, but no, the pancakes were just that bad. I should have sent them back, but I worried that the next batch would be no better. I then tried the hash browns and they were one of the blandest things I have ever ate. They were also only slightly crispy because they were so thick. Overall, my meal was not good, and with tip, it cost me nearly $45! That is insane! My girlfriend wants to note that her meal was good, the Eggs Benedict was good, and the lemon ricotta pancakes were good but almost too sweet (and she loves sweet things). The potato pancakes were honestly the best thing we had there, though. Our server was nice enough, but not outstanding. She did her job but didn't go above and beyond. We were sat next to the kitchen and it was very noisy. I felt like I had to almost yell to be heard. The tables were also very close together, and I felt like we were basically sitting on top of the people around us. I can eat them any time of the day. My last visit to a stateside franchise was in Denver. I loved it. When I found out that there was one three minutes away from my hotel in Eden Prairie, I decided to have lunch here before I headed to the airport to fly home. I arrived just before 1 pm on a Saturday. I found a parking spot and backed into it. There is lots of parking available. I walked in. There are two restaurant areas that are separated by the check-in area and the washrooms. A host greeted me. She seemed a bit confused guiding me to the right area, but I eventually got a two-seat booth. My server was friendly. I got a Diet Coke to start. What caught my attention on the menu were Swedish pancakes. I had to order them. After all, I am in Minnesota. The last time I had lingonberries was in a small town in Sweden. I work for a Swedish conpany. It was meant to be. I also ordered a side of corned beef hash. It's simply yummy. I waited probably a good ten minutes or so. My food came out. One word: wow! My Swedish pancakes were thin, but huge! They were on a huge plate and they still spilled over. I had a separate plate that had my corned beef hash. It was perfectly shaped as a circle. My lingonberries, maple syrup, and whipped butter were on a third plate. I enjoyed rolling up my Swedish pancakes. I filled them up with lingonberries and rolled them It was fun. The pancakes tasted so good. They are really crepes, which I love. They were perfect. The lingonberries weren't too sweet. I was transported back to my experience eating them in Karlskrona, Sweden. Yum! The corned beef hash was exactly how I remembered them. They were full of flavour and slightly crispy. Delicious! I got a refill on my Diet Coke. My server was great. I paid my server at the table. I used a credit card. The transaction was smooth. The washroom was okay when I dropped by. We love this place. The wait can be long to get in. So, it is especially helpful to go online and get on the wait list using dine time. The link is in the upper right corner of their app. Then, you get on the list, don't have to go through the wait and you can walk in to your table. Once there, service is good. Food is crazy good.
