I am very disappointed by the service I received from the Subie Doctors. I sent my 2011 outback in to check for an oil leak. Not only did they quote me an egregious amount for the main issue, they quoted me for several other "issues" that didn't even pertain to my request (i.e. headlamp restoration). The part that really turned them off from me is that they noted that I needed a new cabin air filter and included a photo of the dirty filter in the diagnostic. When I went to change the cabin air filter, it was missing. Either they lied about me having a cabin air filter or completely forgot to put my filter back. The Nickle and diming on top of the poor quality of work means that I will likely never be returning to the subie doctors... read more

Suby - Docs is such a great alternative to the dealership. Enough said. I just wish they had not moved so far away. It's a game changer. Traffic in this area is tough and getting a ride share to anywhere from here is almost impossible! They are such great people and worth the drive. I dropped my car off at 8:30 am for an oil change and power stearing service, and here I sit in their lobby at 6:12 pm; car still not done. My daughter is playing in her school parking lot with my friend because her school closed, and I had no way to get a carseat to anyone to pick her up! Worst service ever!!! read more

After my subaru was smashed by an irresponsible young person in rush hour traffic last September we began the search for another car. We wanted to stick with a manual Outback and stumbled upon Suby Doctors while searching. They're not just a repair shop but also sell used Subaru's. My husband, having had shop experience while in high school, and being kind of a gear head (and a mechanical engineer) went to meet with the owner and his crew and really liked them. Got the good vibes. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and honest. It was a few months before they had a car that we liked and we were able to close a deal. We were a couple from NJ on a long drive to Charleston last week. We were only planning to be in town for two days. About 200 miles out, our check engine light came on. At home, no problem, we know where to bring our 2012 Outback. But, over 500 miles from home...ummmm...oh boy! We search Yelp for Subaru dealers and gave them a call to explain our predicament. All they can promise is "we'll try" & "be patient". Patience is not our strength. So, we go back to Yelp and find the Suby Doctors. Great reviews, never been to North Charleston...oh heck, we got to try something. Walked in and spoke to Mike. He immediately says he could take a quick computer reading from the car to see if it was anything serious. He came out a few minutes later and did just that. All I can say was wow! Brilliant! In five minutes Mike properly diagnosed this wasn't anything dangerous, explained the cause, set our minds at ease, reset the warning light, and sent us on our way. BTW...without charging us. We continued our trip, and drove another 800 miles so far without incident. We certainly appreciate the customer service, and most of all the integrity we were shown. I'm on my 5th Subaru and prefer to use small shops like this, I feel you get a more one on one with the mechanic...and that's what I got here. Our 19 year old Subaru needed A new headlight... Not bad for 19 years with the same headlight. I made the appointment, dropped the vehicle off and it was fixed faster than expected. Best part was not the fact that it was cheaper than going to the dealership, but that I got to talk to the mechanic who worked on my car directly. We travelles all the way from the south most state of the US to Charleston when suddenly outr corsstrek ac motor fan acted on us. There seems to be only Subby Doctors well trusted here in Charleston SC for subaru cars. We tried it, they were swamped and yet accomodated us. They checked our vehicle and advised us that its something very critical and suggested to take it back to the dealer where we got it since it still seems to be under warranty. Wow! I highly recommend this place. We are driving cross country and some warning lights came on in my impreza and i needed to replace my brake light switch. They were super friendly and got me in and out quickly. They are also extremely reasonable with their prices and very knowledgable. We found Suby Doctors because we needed a pre-purchase inspection on a used car. They took time to do an inspection, explain what they thought needed fixing and how much it would cost. The did this all for free. Mike and his crew are awesome. We also brought the car in for an inspection before a 1000 drive. They never charge to look at an issue, they only charge when they fix something. A couple of times he fixed "small stuff" and didn't even charge us. They take the time to thoroughly explain what they found and what their recommendation is for fixing the issue. Their prices are reasonable. Correct address: 2940 Rivers Ave. Had an issue with my head light. When they found out it was a Pontiac, they told me they couldn't guarantee they could fix it. But they took a look anyway. Turned out to be a loose connection. I was in and out in 15 minutes and the guy wished me a merry Christmas. No charge. Great service! read more

Was pulling onto the Ravenel when I ran over something in the road. Huge spike in my tire, air coming out fast. Of course I didn't have my jack. Couldn't make it over the bridge so I off road edit through a field and quickly made it to Suby Doctors before I ran out of air. The guy in the garage went Nascar on my Jeep and I was back on the road in no time. Didn't even charge me. Made it to the beach with plenty of daylight left. Thanks guys. read more

Absolutely, hands down, the best auto shop in the state. I have been taking my Suby here for the last 6 years, first for an oil change, then for spark plug replacements, regular inspections, ect. We had just arrived in Charleston for an extended vacation when the check engine light came on in my Forester. Not knowing anyone I could ask for a recommendation on a mechanic, I Googled "Subaru repairs," found Suby Doctors, and decided to take a chance. They were very professional in handling the whole situation, from a phone consultation about the problem to setting up an appointment. Turns out, it was a minor problem which required no immediately repair. They reset the check engine light and did not charge. We were quite grateful to find such a professional.
