I learned that Master Kim is a 7th-degree black belt, and that his brothers also operate schools in other cities. Their focus goes beyond martial arts training to emphasize discipline, leadership development, and strong character building. What stood out most was Master Kim's genuine heart for the community. He actively supports local schools, book fairs, and even cancer patients through donations and outreach. The after-school program is especially helpful for families, providing care and structure for students after their Taekwondo lessons. Master Kim also makes a special effort to support students from below poverty level families by offering opportunities they might not otherwise have. In addition, he runs an intensive summer program from May through July, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., which reflects a deep commitment to both education and mentorship. Master Kim's passion for Taekwondo, dedication to community service, and commitment to developing leadership in young students are truly exemplary. If I have my way my child wouldn't be there her mother seems to think this is a good school but I'm my opinion it is not safe for children to be there. That woman spends more of her time trying to get every one to ogle her backside than actually training the students. I don't know what the owner is thinking or if he just doesn't care about the schools reputation nor the students there. Do yourself a favor and either go to a different Kim brothers or better yet a completely different school. You want to be called a master but have no idea how to lead by example, you have zero self respect let alone professionalism, you are not a master, you are a grifter. It is run by World Champion, Mr. Van Eck. His skill is phenomenal and he is dedicated to the sport and the kids. We are so lucky to have him at this school! The ATA program undergoes changes from time to time as they fine tune the program. The classes sometimes can be quite large but there are several instructors available to teach. There are multiple classes during the week that you can attend. And they also have classes for adults or free classes for the parents throughout the year. Be prepared to pay for belt testing several times in the year and invest in the combat weapons and gear that is needed for each cycle. Bottom line I have been very happy and surprised to see my son develop his Taekwando skills. He has done extremely well and loves his instructors. This is a great sport to get into. The Karate community is very supportive of all the kids and adults involved!

In addition to being a highly qualified technician who can really do what is being taught, Van Horne is a university professor and published author - meaning, he is a highly skilled educator who knows how to TEACH as well as DO! If you are new to Ogasawara-Ha Shorinji-Ryu, it is a traditional Karatedo system brought to us by the Ogasawara family (same family tree as Ogasawara-Ryu {formal school of etiquette practiced by the Japanese imperial family} and Ogasawara Kyudo {Japanese archery on horseback}). What this means to the student is that classes are run with considerable respect to one another, intense spirit, and a comprehensive curriculum that retains the full practice of standing techniques, throwing/controlling/restraining techniques, and Kobudo (Japanese and Okinawan weapons). It feels great to be able to walk up two flights of stairs without getting out of breath. I've worked hard to gain confidence and health. I've built community, family, and friends, who hold each other accountable. Being overweight can make working out in front of others nerve-wreaking. However, the Kittness community opened me to a no judgment zone. I have no desire to go back to the place (gym or health) I was before I started working out here. There are a variety of classes that include cardio, toning, and sculpting. I started by going once a week for one hour and now I go three times a week for two or three hours taking back to back classes. Soca, Afro-Caribbean, and Cultura are like a dance party! When I'm done with Sculpt&Vibes and Bang I feel like a badass lol! Flags&bumpa and 10-10-10 have helped me tone my arms and thighs. There are so many new classes too that I can't wait to try! The class schedules work great for after work. Instead of stress relieving with cocktails stop by Kittness and relieve that stress!! The curriculum is great - there are a TON of extra activities that are organized by the school (firefighter and policeman visits, carnivals, egg hunts, holiday events etc etc etc).
