Went to the shop to buy my first snow blower. Knew pretty much nothing and they explained the options. Purchased an Ariens and they delivered it to my home. Upon delivery they showed me how to start it, and what things to avoid to spare my shear pins. Also gave tips for maintenance and oil changes. Fantastic experience all around. I'm now able to use my snowblower to help all my neighbors. read more

We have never worked with a company that was so helpful. From my first phone call to a phone call after we pick up our mower deck, Cory was very helpful. We live on Cape Cod and Cory helped with suggestions of how to get our mower deck from CT to Cape Cod. There are not many companies left in this country that would do for us what he did. read more

Great staff, had good luck with small engine repair in the past. Stihl oem parts are just plain old expensive and you can't get around that. Have a great inventory selection and a very friendly staff though! They are always super busy with small engines so you won't always get a quick turn around on repairs. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I dropped my lawnmower off for repair the first week of spring. I constantly called for an update, and they said that they won't be able to get to it until the end of summer. That makes absolutely no sense when this is the time of the year that you will need your lawnmower, the most, I didn't receive my lawnmower back until the end of September and I would never go back to this place again! read more

One of the best sales experiences of my life. The staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Kyle had me in and out within 15 minutes with my new mower. He filled it up with oil, gas and showed me how to use all of its functions before helping me load it in the car. He also scheduled the delivery of my snow blower for a few days later. Lue dropped the blower off at my house and made sure I understood everything about the machine before heading out. Just like the mower, they put oil and gas in it for me. Bought a snowblower here and was very pleased with the service. However, I brought another tool in for repair and was told parts are impossible to find, not worth repairing, etc. After a 5 minute Google search I found out parts are easily obtainable and the repair was also easy (did it myself). That was disappointing. Also I wish you would consider opening on Sunday, one of the two days of the week people need you most, if you want to compete with the big box stores and the Internet. I would truly love to support your local business but can't if you're not open when I need you. UPDATE: Since I wrote that review two years ago, things have really improved at Sudden Service. I had my mower "tuned up" (oil/filter/spark plug change, sharpen blades, adjust belts) for about half what I paid at Manchester Honda, and it was ready within 4 days! They've hired more people and added a huge storage building. The salespeople were all friendly and helpful. (Don't worry, Ed is still there!) Very pleased and will continue to do business there. read more

If you're considering taking your small engine tools to Sudden Service, do yourself a favor and go some place else! In the middle of September, I took two chainsaws there that I wanted to have serviced. When I was finally waited on, I was told (very rudely and with no further explanation) by the individual at the desk that they wouldn't even work on one of the chainsaws; he then reluctantly said they they could work on the other chainsaw but that it would likely be 5 to 6 weeks before they could work on it. Needing to have a working chain saw, I agreed to have them do the work. I was however bothered by a feeling that they had no intention of performing the work requested. After 9+ weeks had gone by, I went to the store and confirmed what I expected to hear - that no work had been performed. As I waited for the chainsaw to be retrieved, I observed an interaction between another customer and a member of the service staff. The customer was picking up a chainsaw and the service staff couldn't have been more rude and condescending; basically scolding the customer for not putting stabilizer in the gas! I will never go back to this business. I would have "respected" them more if when I brought my chainsaws there that they had told me that they had no intention of performing the work. Also in a business like this, it would seem to me that customer service is critical. They have demonstrated to me that is not a priority for them. read more

I am shocked this business has not been reviewed before because everyone in town knows them, and uses them! This is your typical small engine repair shop that so many towns have. They know everything about anything gas powered and do a great job repairing mowers, snow blowers and everything close. They will even pick up and deliver if you can't get the item there (for a fee). I use this service for my snow blower when it needs to go in. In addition to repairs, they also sell all types and sizes of mowers , snow blowers, chain saws, weed whackers, mulchers, etc. Their brands tend to be higher end personal and professional. I was here this week because I bought a new leaf blower (Stihl). I paid $10 more than a big box store (maybe not even) but they fueled it , started it, showed me everything and handed it to me ready to use which I did as soon as I got home ! I love having this shop in town. They've been here for many years and I expect they'll be here a whole lot more! read more

Brought my ECHO handheld leafblower and told them it runs great but leaks fuel so please install a new fuel line kit. I went to pick it up and was given a bill for $75.00. They said nothing was written so they did a complete tuneup. New filter plug etc. when I stated my case that I only wanted the fuel line fixed he took off the $2.00 spark plug. I recently moved to South Windsor and like to support local business. The shop was very friendly and clean, everyone wears their mask, in and out of the store. I went in to Sudden Service(SS) yesterday to utilize the power of my dollar with the intent of purchasing a new string trimmer from them instead of one of the two mega-box home improvement stores a mile or so down the road. I would rather spend a little more at an independent retailer, (my experience being that the customer service is superior, support local business,etc) than a mega mart any day. I stood in the main showroom for at least 20 minutes, looking over the various makes, models, pricing, etc. NOT ONCE did any representative from SS acknowledge my presence. I understand that a. I am not a landscape contractor, etc, so as a homeowner I'm not in there every day b. I'm also not someone who wants to be descended upon immediately after crossing the door threshold. I think there is a reasonable amount of time staff can afford customers in a retail setting. The staff at SS clearly were not interested. Having said all that, does my potential business mean nothing? I should mention there was some sort of police action happening outside during my visit. Most of the SS staff made sure to run past me, to get outside and spectate a traffic stop....walking past me again(w/o acknowledgment) to return to holding up the parts counter. I hear an awful lot about globalism and mom and pop's being run out of business due to ruthless box store business practices. I dont think that statement tells the whole story, not by a long shot. I think there alot of independents doing great, but its not because they let money and customer relationships go walking out the door. I got back in my car, ordered a top of the line model from Amazon (cheaper than listed price at SS) and received follow up emails from Amazon to ensure my satisfaction.
