Relatively great spot in a small strip mall near China Town. I generally eat tonkotsu but this time I picked their miso ramen and it had an incredible taste that explodes in your mouth but at the same time, it gives you enough time to fully appreciate the "refreshing" flavor. Quotations for refreshing because really, Ramen is very heavy and this particular ramen spot leaves me very fulfilled and at the same time light after. Service was great and the water cup was surprisingly clean (I judge restaurants based on their water cup, if it has a funky smell on it then I highly doubt they clean or do super quality work on other things). Overall, this is a great place. It's definitely much farther than Little Tokyo but I'd take the trip just because it would leave me with a satisfied yet light stomach. read more

This place was really good, the parking situation although wasn't good. You have to pay 5$ cash to park in their lot which was annoying but great food made up for it. Came here for a late night grub and found a few vegan options here, vegan yakisoba, vegan ramen, vegan udon & vegan mabo don. I tried the mabo tofu and it was soooo good, very large portion, a bit spicy, bomb flavors and fulfilling, a perfect grub. Nice family owned Japanese mini diner. Their menu at this location is however a limited and more condensed version of the Suehiro cafe menu. If you just want particular items on this menu which is shared by both menus then just go to this location because theres parking and this location isnt as busy and crazy as the Little Tokyo location. read more

Just as delicious as the Suehiro in Little Tokyo! While the menu is smaller, SM has many of the classics, the katsu don, takoyaki, chicken karaage, and the amazing hiyashi rice with a fried egg. They also have daily specials, which was also available for dinner. The special that day was the chicken curry and rice for $6.50 and it did not disappoint. I will be back to try the udons and the daily specials. I loved being able to walk there and look forward to grabbing some lunch. The space is good for groups of 4, but probably not for groups larger than 6. It's a much smaller space. Grateful that there's some classic, comforting Japanese cuisine outside of LT. read more

I've been eating here for over 2 years now, and they've never disappointed. I've tried a few other ramen shops in the area, and Suehiro wins for sure. I always order ramen when I eat here as well as various appetizers. Their calamari and shumai are both pretty good, but their karaage...wow it is good. They serve it with a wedge of lemon, and a spicy mayo that is just so, so delicious. They're appetizer portions are a bit on the small side, but they're definitely high quality. I'm often times as excited for the few bites of fried chicken i'm going to get as I am for the ramen. That being said though, I love their tonkotsu. Delicious, rich broth, with a nice subtle saltiness. Their noodles are as good as any I've had, and they have a good assortment of add ons so you can mix and match each time you order. I usually go tonkotsu ramen, mildly spicy, with all the fixings that come with it (egg, nori, fishcake, spinach, chashu) The chashu pork is also incredibly flavorful. That's about it, my rating says it all! Order from here if you want a great bowl of ramen and some really delicious apps. After searching for a good yakisoba, thanks to yelp, I decided to check out this place and have a taste of one of Japan's famous stir fried noodles. Im not trying to sugar coat my review but their yakisoba is just as delicious as if you were in Japan. It was absolutely highly pleasant to the taste. On top of that, customer service is top notch. Rie and Tomoko are super kind. They both very understanding to what i need to order for our company's pot luck party. I chose to bring Takoyaki and Rie was so kind enough to place my order over the phone. As plan, I didn't experience any negativity with my order. Called it in on Friday and picked it up on Tuesday and i was all set. Thank you Rie and Tomoko for you kind service and support. A great hole-in-the-wall ramen place in Chinatown. This one might be easily overlooked, as it is a bit hidden away in what might seem like a sketchy area, but it's only about 2-ish blocks away from Union Station and just off the main drag (E Cesar Chavez). It's much more central than it might appear on a map (or when you're there) and WAY more accessible than spots in Little Tokyo or DTLA. Food is great - hot and fresh! Ahhhhhh the fact is.... I haven't found another place that has yakisoba as good as Suehiro's. And I've searched high and low for a good place for yakisoba until I couldn't take anymore disappointment! It was a bust! Suehiro has the besttttt. So my usual order is the vegan yakisoba with tofu and UGH IT IS TOO GOOD FOR THIS WORLD. I loveeee the ginger too, I'm not a huge fan of ginger in general but with this dish, I simply cannot imagine enjoying it WITHOUT the ginger! So frkn good. The portion is a good size too, a little on the pricey side but well worth it because it is soooo delicious with all of its spices. It comes with a side of wakame too which is nice to add in. Also the chicken karaage is pretty solid! I love the sauce it comes with too and the lemon wedges add the extra zest to it. Everything is made fresh so it's definitely worth the wait. They have a lot more to offer on the menu too like curry and rice bowls. The place itself is a little bit hidden away and parking can be a challenge sometimes but I've never had a problem because I just park in the lot for a bit as I normally order takeout. Wow... So it makes me sad to leave a bad review when it all could have been kept between ourselves BUT here it goes... I came here one night out of convenience (and my affinity for Japanese over Chinese food) and ordered two items, the vegan soup and gyozo. I'd love to say I ate either of them but even after waiting about 20+ minutes I still didnt have an edible meal. The gyoza wrap was completely uncooked but still somehow soaking in oil, I mean like the actual wrap tastes like it was old and stale and just put in a pan full of oil for 2 minutes, the edges were crunchy, and not like cooked crunchy... The soup was seriously a disgrace. Ya know the lil old ladies selling the wilted lettuce on the sidewalks of Chinatown that are constantly running amuck with rats & fish shop leavings? Okay now picture for me the innermost leaves and heart of that lettuce and about 1/4 lb of yellowed bean sprouts in a very basic flavorless broth and thats the base for the vegan soup. The noodles were also pretty freaking gross too, essentially after 2 bites of this meal I was disappointed & disgusted enough to just fall asleep. Over the next few days I returned twice to get a PARTIAL refund (because I'm aware we all run a business) and I was told that the manager refused to offer any refund. Picked up some udon and ramen from this cute little place and it was great! The way they package their takeout containers is very clever. The broth was so good, I don't even regret burning my mouth slurping it up. Dumplings were solid and my friends inhaled the chicken karaage. Portion sizes are generous, especially considering the price. Only downside was the egg I asked for was missing in my chicken udon. My bf lovingly gave me the egg from his ramen, so all was well. I never write reviews on any site, but I read a ton of reviews before checking out a new spot, so I felt obligated to write my first review on this place.. I've had chicken cutlet curry from a handful of spots and this was just disappointing. Overcooked rice (very sticky) and only 5 small pieces of pork which had little breading. What really threw me off was the sweet curry. Every other place I've been to has had a curry that's thicker and a lot more savory. Only adding 2 starts because they were extremely welcoming and polite. Pretty disappointed about the food quality. read more
