It was hot outside and we were waiting for the Nisei Week Parade to begin, so our large group of 13 stopped here to cool down with some yummy shaved ice and snacks. The place was a bit busy and with our party so large, we ended up splitting into 2 group (4 + 9). The table of 4 was served more quickly and finished before the bigger table, but that was expected. On our table of 9, we had half the group order ramen, udon, or gyoza and the rest of us ordered desserts. The Summer specials include cold noodles (either udon or ramen) and large shaved ice desserts and a cold soda drink. Our waiter mentioned they have the shaved ice in a smaller size which 2 people could share. I ordered the small mango shaved ice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. No other additions, but it hit the spot. If you go for the large size it comes with the ice cream plus jelly toppings. I think I want to go back and try that next time! Get the spicy Chanpon....it's tasty, spicy, filled with yummy seafood and tender pork. Man was it just sooo fulfilling and just a great ramen. This is a classic ramen spot with validated parking, great service and cold beers. All their ramens are recommended. Japanese shaved ice are are must try!! The ambiance is relaxed and inviting. This is one of my top 5 ramen spots and I am happy to have found it. Love the logo as well. We need places like this to stay open and thrive. And make this Little Tokyo.. I miss classic Japanese food joints like this that were not bought out or couldn't keep up with the inflation of rent to survive. We were originally planning to visit Izakaya Bizan (a short walk away), but they were closed between 2:30PM and 5:30PM. We decided on Hana Ichimonme as a fallback dining option (since they were open during said window of time), and I am pleased to report that it turned out to be a mostly positive experience here. The food here is delicious - I was a huge fan of the Hamburger Curry Rice. Their complimentary salads are above-average in quality. The staff was largely good to deal with - though they did unfortunately present us with the check before we were both finished eating (we felt a bit like we were being rushed out), I will also give them credit for helpfully reminding us to have them validate our parking ticket. Honestly, was on a quest of my own to discover genuine Japanese desserts after binge watching "Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman" on Netflix. Hana Ichimonme was one of the places that helped toward fulfilling that mission as a place where I was able to find Shiratama Anmitsu on the menu! Think of the place as a casual style Japanese diner that serves a variety of comfort dishes to include Ramen, Curry Rice, and Yakisoba. A restaurant at the corner of history. I think I'm biased towards places that were a part of the community for years and years. You really see it when you visit the place as it has this vibe of 90s to 00s era setting that fits towards the mall aesthetic at the time. And with this being on the third floor of a mall that doesn't have many stores the more you go up, you could glance over this place. But I thought it looked nice and wanted some Japanese curry and decided to stop by in. It is a nice setting with lovely staff when you get in. Very helpful, very comfortable, and makes one feel nice to be in. I recall wanting something custom and the staff and chef were very polite with creating it! The food was good and I had a nice time. I'm finishing up an old review as I don't recall small details, but I remembered this restaurant being lovely, with a great staff and a nostalgic feeling of being at a mall, at a time capsule of a nice restaurant. I've been here a couple times, pre COVID and just recently. I'm so happy to see they are still here! We've gotta support the local culture in Little Tokyo before they are gentrified out! I was jumping for joy when I searched their posted menu outside to find the ever elusive Deluxe Menchi Katsu Curry with Pilaf Rice!!! Ever since Curry House closed their doors, this specific dish became a thing of the past. OMG was I so happy beyond words! And to make it better, the staff was amazingly friendly, and the dish was DELICIOUS! slightly greasier then I'd like but perfect still. The side salad that comes with your entree included your usual Romain lettuce, cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, corn, and to my surprise, some rehydrated seaweed! Topped with a sesame dressing was actually pretty good!! Can't wait to bring my family next time!!! This restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the Market Place Mall. This is inside the little Tokyo galleria. They validate after your meal. Chanpon $15.95 was excellent. Full of flavor, it's a pork soup base ramen with seafood and cabbage with just the right medium to hot level of spicy. It is a must get! It also came hot in temperature and it was perfect. Hakata ramen is also pork soup based but milkier and with a generous amounts of vegetables on top. The chashu was melt in your mouth tender. The bowl wasn't hot enough and I had to ask for a way to what it up. They were kind enough to give me extra hot soup to pour in. Overall this was okay for me. I prefer the chanpon between the two. I may be mistaken, but surely Hana Ichimonme is the very last remaining name in the beloved Yohan Plaza that currently we know of as Little Tokyo Market Place. Gone is the original bowling alley, the Northface Flagship Store, and many other Japanese eateries however, I am very happy to see this traditional Japanese restaurant still serving many favorites. Their menu continues to deliver your classic Japanese affair with Ramen, Soba, Chanpon, Katsu, Curry, and many other staples. This is comfort food in a sense for many patrons and fans. The quality is good. It isn't the upscale or overly priced gourmet, and this is what makes the approachable nature of having an institution. The service is excellent. The handover of ownership vacated the charm. The pricing is about $5 more than the perceived value. Maybe this is the pricing required to maintain. Parking is validated for 90 minutes, and this shopping center continues to offer many other things to warrant an entertaining and worthy stop. read more

i've never eaten at the little tokyo mall before and stumbled across hana ichimonme when browsing their menu in the window. they were advertising a $15 katsudon, which is a limited time entree, and i had to try it. inside is really cozy and traditional with lots of table seating. the restaurant was decently full for a saturday afternoon but we were seated and served quickly. to start we got sesame garlic edamame, for $6.50 the portion was large and the seasoning on the beans was great! we were also given a starter salad with our meals which was topped with a creamy sesame dressing. my partner got the veggie croquette curry which was really nice and cozy. i would've enjoyed it more if the weather were colder, but this was my first time having japanese style curry and i fully enjoyed it! my katsudon was delicious! crispy chicken and egg sitting on sweet dashi, onions, and a bed of rice. i sped through half of the bowl before realizing i had eaten most of it. when our serve came to check on us i complemented the katsudon and he said the owner had recently tried it in japan and decided to put it on the menu. i hope it becomes a staple because katsu is my favorite japanese food! after lunch we received free cups of green tea and everything came out to $42 which was really affordable! read more

The food was subpar, I stated that I have been eating here and enjoying the food for almost a decade and you say "beef was fresh" and "recipe hasn't changed" The quality has gone downhill and so has the customer service. I recommend that you warn customers as they walk in that you will not be providing quality food or service so that they can take their business elsewhere as I will from now on. You did not acknowledge that we were rushed out while no other tables were received that same treatment. Really lost respect for this restaurant, especially to whoever responded today. Came here again on a Monday night and they were still as good and consistent as ever! My dad said he's been coming here since high school (over 30 years) and it's still his favorite ramen shop in Los Angeles. This time, we got the spicy miso ramen, chasu ramen, spicy vegetable ramen, and the spicy coconut ramen, a new menu item. For spice level we all got 4/5. Personally, I didn't think it was too spicy compared to Chinese, Thai, or Korean places. It's location inside a mall makes it one of the few places in LA that had a parking garage that validates your parking (1 hour) for eating here. P.S. First visit after almost 2 years. The menu has been changed since I remembered. Kind of disappointed that the combo I wanted (the one that included the dessert) is no longer on the menu. I ordered the chicken donburi combo. Chicken doesn't taste the same as before. Chicken used to have crispy skin but it isn't now. The miso ramen was very salty. Salad dressing used to be soy base dressing. The dressing they use now is more peanut flavor. I didn't like it. Curry katsu ramen was ok. Katsu chicken tasted like really fat chicken. Not much meat. Pork soup based ramen chashu meat was too fat. The soup was also too salty. Three star because the service was good. But I would give the food a 2.5 stars. Pretty disappointed because I have been a frequent customer for many years before COVID. I don't think we will be coming back. They do validate parking for two hours. I was searching for various restaurants in downtown LA and Koreatown to try, and I happened upon this restaurant that serves chanpon ramen. I have not had chanpon ramen in a very long time, so my wife and I decided to try this place. Fortunately, Hana Ichimonme does parking validation for the mall, which is a huge plus. We ended up ordering a keema curry and a spicy chanpon ramen, level 5 spice. The curry came with a salad. We also did a yelp check in for miso soup. The miso soup was fairly standard. I loved the salad dressing that went with the salad. The spicy ramen was way too spicy for me but perfect for my wife.
