Katsuudon bowl. Chicken breast katsu with egg on top over white rice with onion in a very lite broth.

Incredible food. I got the katsuudon (chicken), she got the katsu curry (pork). Was so ono (delicious). Great amount of food for the price. The servers were very polite and friendly. Even made friends with another customer who's been eating here since she was little. A+

All of the lettuce you see in this picture from the spicy hiyashi

I used to come here all the time and get their beef donburi combo (now called beef bowl) with spicy hiyashi. I look at their menu and it turns out you can still get a beef bowl combo, and it costs +$3 to upgrade the standard ramen. Great! I also see that the spicy hiyashi is a summer special. Cool! Put two and two together, and I end up getting the spicy hiyashi beef bowl combo. Well. The beef bowl tastes slightly different than what it used to. Like Yoshinoya is better type of thing. I'm thinking either they changed the recipe or they changed the cook. And the spicy Hiyashi is like 70% lettuce. I don't remember it being like that. There was so much lettuce that I put it into other containers to get to the ramen. So all in all, not what I am used to. I know this place has the potential to output great food. The decor and vibes are great. The service is great. The food fell short this time. Will I come back to try it again? Yes. But there are improvement opportunities for sure with the two menu items I tried.

A cute Japanese restaurant serving casual Japanese dishes! The food is great and service exceptional! Everything is neat, organized, and enjoyable!!

Hole in the wall and hidden gem. Service was great. I was impressed with the presentation of the food because the restaurant seemed small and wasn't necessarily appealing for surface value if it wasn't for yelp. I'll definitely return with my wife when I take my dog to the groomer next door on another day.

    Spicy Chanpon

Get the spicy Chanpon....it's tasty, spicy, filled with yummy seafood and tender pork. Man was it just sooo fulfilling and just a great ramen. This is a classic ramen spot with validated parking, great service and cold beers. All their ramens are recommended. Japanese shaved ice are are must try!! The ambiance is relaxed and inviting. This is one of my top 5 ramen spots and I am happy to have found it. Love the logo as well. We need places like this to stay open and thrive. And make this Little Tokyo.. I miss classic Japanese food joints like this that were not bought out or couldn't keep up with the inflation of rent to survive. I miss all the izakaya , ice cream and karaoke spots that once were in J-town. Let's keep supporting them.

    Ramen combo with beef bowl

We always stop in for their ramen combo, which comes with a shoyu ramen, salad and choice of beef bowl, chicken bowl or gyoza with rice. The beef bowl is very good and makes for a savory, filling and delicious lunch combo.

A cute Japanese restaurant on the third floor of a mall. They offer very homestyle Japanese food, which really hits the spot on a cold day. Their service is good and food is tasty. No complaints here.

A good quality complimentary salad with a decent amount of tasty dressing.

We were originally planning to visit Izakaya Bizan (a short walk away), but they were closed between 2:30PM and 5:30PM. We decided on Hana Ichimonme as a fallback dining option (since they were open during said window of time), and I am pleased to report that it turned out to be a mostly positive experience here. The food here is delicious - I was a huge fan of the Hamburger Curry Rice. Their complimentary salads are above-average in quality. The staff was largely good to deal with - though they did unfortunately present us with the check before we were both finished eating (we felt a bit like we were being rushed out), I will also give them credit for helpfully reminding us to have them validate our parking ticket. This restaurant is located on the 3rd Floor of the Little Tokyo Galleria at 3rd/Alameda. All things considered, I would be happy to return here.

Shiratama Anmitsu Dessert and Green Tea.

Honestly, was on a quest of my own to discover genuine Japanese desserts after binge watching "Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman" on Netflix. Hana Ichimonme was one of the places that helped toward fulfilling that mission as a place where I was able to find Shiratama Anmitsu on the menu! Think of the place as a casual style Japanese diner that serves a variety of comfort dishes to include Ramen, Curry Rice, and Yakisoba. I also had the Tonsai Yakisoba, and it was a pretty large portion. A great place for what it does, worth trying if you happen to be nearby and looking for a quick bite.

To be clear, you really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants on this street and I recommend just going with whichever one has the shortest wait when you show up. Thankfully we only had to wait about 20 minutes and got a table inside. There were 6 of us and they made us squeeze into a booth built for 4 which was a little annoying but we made it work. I ordered their signature Daikoku Ramen which was very flavorful and filling, just wish there had been more meat! My husband got the poke bowl with salmon and tuna which is a great dish for those on the protein grind. Service was mixed, they brought some dishes out immediately and then others in our group had to wait longer to get their food. Overall food was tasty and I would go back.

The chashu was disappointing: lean and chewy--more like steak found in pho than the tender pork I expected. The wait for a table was long in the hot sun during lunch. And it's still an inconvenient location to get to in terms of parking--little Tokyo is as busy as ever. We had to share a table with some other, really loud patrons. The air conditioning was broken. I got the fried rice, previously one of my favorite side dishes here, but the Yakimeshi rice was too dry and disappointing. I added garlic and soft boiled egg to my ramen. The garlic flakes were too big/strong and overpowered everything. The egg was good. Since the noodles and broth are the most important parts and were both decent, I'd keep this place at around four stars. But there are a lot of other ramen places to try in the area. Original from years ago: Overtook Daikokuya as my favorite ramen place. I love so much about the place except the wait. And the parking, which doesn't validate as long as it used to. But really, the wait is really terrible. I would eat here more often if the wait weren't such an issue.

To wash everything down, I ordered the Mega Sapporo, which arrived perfectly ice-cold and was incredibly refreshing. That said, it might actually be a better value to order the smaller glasses depending on the pricing. Service was probably the weakest part of the experience. Our server rarely checked on us throughout the meal, and I don't recall being asked if we needed anything after our food arrived. On the bright side, empty plates were cleared promptly, which helped keep the table tidy. The ambiance had a relaxed, casual Japanese bar and restaurant vibe. It wasn't overly loud, making it an easy place to unwind over drinks and appetizers. Their noodles have a bounciness and chewiness that hold the broth you dip your noodles in. I do wish the broth was hotter because the noodles are traditionally served cold.
