We have had Sue's several times and it's been meh every time we have went. But this time was the worst it's been. It is a very homey, welcoming, clean restaurant. The staff is decent and was kind and respectful. I'm only giving it a 3 star for these reasons other wise it would be a 1 star because the food was not very good at all. Our nachos (pictured below) were soggy and the chips that weren't soggy were stale like they had been sitting out for a while. My husband got the shrimp and brew city fries (pictured below) the shrimp are tiny but you get 21 he stated they were ok for shrimp and fries. He ordered coleslaw for his other side but never received it after being ask x2. I ordered the roast beef sand which and mashed potatoes and gravy (pictured below) now this is my order usually every home cooked place I go and I love it. My entire plate was cold. But I was the last to receive my food as our food did not come out together. Not only was it cold the roast beef was dry and just gross. I probably won't be returning to this place. And my son said the sweet tea tasted like dish water (I kinda agree)! He also got Mac n cheese and said it looked creamy but was dry and tasted like nothing but sour milk. We also got a bowl of veggie soup to try and it was sour and tasted like tomato juice and nothing else. My salad and my other sons cheese burger was about the only thing that got completely finished. read more

This is the only decent place in Petersburg to get a good breakfast. Our server was working alone on a very busy morning. She did well under the circumstances. My omelette was cooked a little more than I like and was lukewarm. There was a very good portion of ham and cheese. The omelette tasted delicious. The home fries were fresh cut, but a few were too thick & undercooked. I don't like "crunchy" home fries. The coffee was hot and tasted good. read more

I've eaten there for years because it's just about the only restaurant in town. Unfortunately they are often grossly understaffed and work the hell out of their waitress. Most often you walk in the door and good luck finding a clean table - while one waitress is running around trying to serve ten or more tables and the kitchen is screwing up orders left and right. If you do manage to go in when they are not busy you will get okay food and decent service. Stay away if it's even half full. read more

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. Like the other reviews said, this isn't the cleanest place in the world, and the service isn't 5 star, but this place is awesome. I've been here probably around 6-7 times, all while visiting friends in the area. Anytime I'm up in WV - I stop at Sue's. Breakfast on a Saturday morning, after one to many? Sue will cure that hang over and have you ready to go by noon. It's pretty good, country cookin'. If you're looking for a 5 star gourmet meal, this isn't your place. This is a breakfast review. I'm fairly certain that this friendly family diner uses hubcaps borrowed from the motor-sports store that they are attached with to measure out their pancakes, because these things are freaking huge. My girlfriend ordered a stack of three and it became clear as soon as we arrived that we had unintentionally ordered our breakfast for tomorrow as well. Fortunately, what they had in size, they also had in taste. They were very fluffy and flavorful. This place is no fuss, no muss, and surprisingly comfortable in spite of the community-center-style furniture and faint aroma of gasoline and oil coming from the four wheelers in the other room. If you're in Petersburg for hiking, kayaking or whatever, I definitely recommend stopping here to fill up before you hit the trails. read more

I had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant a few days ago. The waitress was courteous. My meal was prepared to my liking. The pricing, based on what I pay at a fast food restaurant, was modestly priced. I look forward to coming back to Petersburg and eating at Sue's. read more

Stopped in at lunch time on a trip to WV for hiking. It's connected to a motorcycle dealer. Stood by the door for awhile wondering if we needed to seat ourselves while several wait staff just kind of looked at us. Finally we asked if we should just pick a table and they said yes. Don;t think they get many customers from out of town. Since they have breakfast all day that is what we got. It was a little slow in coming but the food was ok. Home fries are pretty crisp, almost like thick potato chips. Coffee is not very good. They don't bring a check you have to go to the register and pay, which cost us some time waiting for the waitress to bring the check. On the way home we stopped in again, food was ok. Did not appreciate all the flies inside, they need to deal with that. But all in all, prices were reasonable and there are not a lot of other choices in the area, so I'd probably go back. read more

After an epic ride through Seneca, I was starving. Sues was recommended by a woman I met at a gas station as the place to go for great home style food. She was not wrong. This place is great! Slowly getting worse and worse. Last time we came here it seemed different, just didn't get the same feelings about it as I did when I was a kid, under cooked food, felt like for ever to finally get what we ordered and wasn't as good of quality as it used to be. They are always running low on staff members and over work their under paid staff AF. This time around it doesn't seem much better, still felt like forever to get out food something tasted "funny" about our (mom, me, dad, brother) food. This IS the last time we will visit here with out a doubt and will have to find other restaurants with what I'm sure will have better service than this garbage restaurant. read more

Food is decent. Most of the Staff are hateful!! One time we could even hear the cook talking about us in the kitchen. I even told the waitress to let the cook know I could hear her talking about us. The one waitress was being so rude to the other and even yelling at her in front of us. They turned off the grill 30 minutes before closing. What's the point to have a closing time if you're going to close early?? We went there during the day and they couldn't do deep-fried foods because they were cleaning the deep fryers. So we got up and left. That should be done in the morning before lunch/dinner time when you need the fryers the most. They would constantly run out of stuff. I wanted a salad the waitress told me they had no lettuce but another table came in after and ordered salads and got them?? Haven't been there in about 7 months and probably won't go back unless I'm desperate for take out food. read more

We recently moved to the area. We decided to try them for dinner. The server took our order quickly but it took forever to get our food. My fried chicken was tough and dry. My wife's popcorn shrimp wasn't bad. My wife ordered coleslaw as a side. They brought it out immediately and then we sat for waiting for dinner to be brought to us. So there we sat, a cup of coleslaw and a cracker between us. We were completely underwhelmed. Maybe breakfast is better but for dinner I would not recommend this restaurant. Sue's Country Kitchen lives up to its name and the Yelp reviews. Coming from the city, we were amazed at the prices and the portion sizes (Is that a stack of pancakes or pizzas?). The coffee cost $1 and was bottomless, both of which make me a happy diner. It's a no-frills sort of place, but Petersburg isn't frilly. Don't expect white tablecloths, but things were clean and in order. I was amused that a 4x4/motorcycle dealership wrapped around the restaurant. We came here for breakfast, so I can't speak to the lunch or dinner options. If there are two people in your party, order one blueberry pancake with sausage or bacon, the two-egg meal with home fries (just sliced potatoes) and maybe more bacon, and don't skip a side of their really delicious sausage gravy! read more

The food was good and generous portions. They serve breakfast all day, so if you show up late you can get something to eat. They have free WiFi and you can receive some signal for cell phone coverage. read more

My mom lives in Petersburg and we went for breakfast after an overnight stay. My wife & I both ordered omelettes. The food arrived hanging off both ends of the plate the omelettes were so big! Didn't get home fries, didn't realize food was ordered al a carte. Breakfast was good. Coffee was good and refills available. Always do seem to a bit short on waitresses but they are friendly enough. Smell from the Kawasaki bike shop next door, with an adjoining door, does take some getting used to. We look forward to going back when we are in town. Rating would be higher except for oil / grease smell (restaurant can't help that) and dirty tables always present. read more
