I called last week to get a ballpark estimate on alterations for two suit jackets and four dress shirts. I explained what I needed, and the woman I spoke to (Sue) quoted around $25 per shirt and $35-$50 per jacket. She also mentioned it was their busy season and the turnaround time would be about three weeks, which I said was no problem. The following week, as agreed, I brought in the clothing. I stood at the front counter for several minutes before someone (her daughter, I assume) appeared. She didn't greet me or say anything--just looked at the clothes over my arm and let out an exaggerated sigh, as if I was burdening her with work. I greeted her and reminded her that I'd spoken with her mom the week before. She started pinning one of the jackets when Sue walked in. Like her daughter, she didn't greet me--just immediately started talking about me with her daughter: "What does he need? How many does he have? Did you give him a price?" Eventually, I introduced myself and reminded Sue we had spoken the previous week. Instead of continuing the fitting, she criticized me for bringing all the shirts in at once, saying I should've split the order into two trips. I told her I wasn't in a rush and that they could take their time--even a month was fine. Her response was that they didn't have time to pin every shirt, and when I suggested using one shirt as a template for the others, she didn't reply. Then came the new pricing: $110 per jacket--far above the initial estimate. I told her I've had the exact same alterations done on similar jackets before, usually at $40-$50 each. She cut me off, saying she doesn't negotiate. I clarified I wasn't negotiating, just sharing my previous experience, and she snapped, "Well maybe you should go to them and get them done then." At that point, I took my clothes and left. The attitude from both Sue and her daughter was dismissive and unwelcoming from start to finish. They seemed annoyed by the idea of actually doing business. Use them if you want, but I wouldn't recommend bringing in more than one or two items unless you want to be treated like an inconvenience. read more

I had 2 suit jackets altered here. One turned out too tight and the owner could not have been less interested in hearing it. the second fit absolutely perfect. on both, the quality of the alterations were very good and you would need a keen eye to see that they had been altered at all. They were also both completed exactly when I was told they'd be done. Now, why the 2 stars? Everything about this place screamed "rude" to me. Imperative signs everywhere telling you what they will and won't accept in terms of payments, masks, etc. Sue complained about various customers the entire time of my fitting (she did not use names). Upon picking up my jackets I walked in and immediately apologized for forgetting a mask and asked for one. She started insulting me and every other customer who comes "unprepared" to her shop. It was very expensive for the types of tailoring needed... however, I would have dealt with the costs as they were reliable... but I just can't deal with such a crappy attitude from someone who feels like customers owe THEM. Maybe she's just burned out... I don't know... but I've got several more suits to tailor and will find another location. read more

I have to say it was a mixed view of things. I came in with the idea of just shortening my dress. She suggested shortening the arms. Which was fine. The dress, after a ton of unauthorized changes came out nice. The fee was a little over $200....for a dress I paid 25.00 for...I don't think I would have put that much into it if she would have asked me. No prices were ever given and I was told I'd have to have a $60 deposit. She meant well but I just would have liked for her to tell me the costs up front. On a side note, she'll be very rude if you aren't wearing a mask. So, I personally, will not take anything to her again. It's way out of my price range. read more

The price to hem men's sport pants was $16.50. I thought that was really high. The quality provided was superb. The main reason I will not return is the owners attitude. Even now, June 2023 , she requires you to wear a mask because she's not had Covid vaccine and doesn't believe in it. She had tales to tell about previous clients. I wondered when I left what she said about me lol. The place was crowded with all kinds items for sale. Not room to move. I wasn't sure I was in the right place as I had to callout to get her up front. Definitely will find another place. Her work is amazing! However, she does talk a lot and can come off a little rude but I don't think it's intentional so don't take it to heart & honestly I don't think she's aware. I called to ask for a small sewing job and was treated very rudely. I'm sure it was Sue who answered the phone because when I called (at the time which was listed to be open) she replied "we're not open until 10:00" upon my apology she answered "well that's the only way anything gets done around here". Later on in the conversation I explained it was only a 1" stitch which she exclaimed, maybe I can do it in a day. I was asking for a favor for my 3 year old's stuffed animal. "everyone thinks they can just come in here for something fast". My reply: I'm sure it would only take a moment of your time, I'll pay well. What do I hear in return? "Now you're telling me how to do my job". Not at all lady. RUDE AS HELL. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. read more

This place stinks so bad. Smells like a funeral home!! Lady and are mother are straight up rude!! First of all treated me horribly because I wasn't wearing a mask. As the lady was speaking the mother was in the back ground saying " Im not going to touch that" in such a rude tone. Like how can you speak to a customer like that. Rude, too expensive (total cost was twice the amount given to me upon drop off of item), irresponsable (item was not done on time and had to keep going several times to ensure it was done and always had excuses saying that they were too busy). SAVE YOUR CLOTHES & SAVE YOUR MONEY! The younger of the two seamstress ruined my outfit and then wanted to charge me more in an attempt to fix it. She refused to even refund me the alteration price. When I confronted her about her poor work, her reply was "I did what you wanted." Worst experience ever. I went there for alterations and found a gift store. When I asked if I was in the right place the woman said "some people can't get a grip that I run two businesses". I tried to ignore that comment and explained that I needed trousers hemmed and asked if there was a place to try them on. I was responded to with "now your insulting me". I wanted to write this review. So that others are not taken in by this place of business. We were quoted 30 to 60 dollars for putting up a hem. And taking the sides in on my Daughters Prom gown. It was there for 3 weeks. I have them a deposit of 65.00 dollars. And not till the night before her Prom. Did she tell me what was my balance. She told me it would be another 150.00 dollars. I think it was extremely excessive. I felt like I was robbed. But had no choice since it was my Daughter's Prom. I will be reporting them to the BBB. Tomorrow morning. I am a nursing student and I went to Sue's Stitch N'Sew to alter my new scrubs. The staff was friendly and I didn't even spend more than 15 minutes there. I paid on the day I went in and picked up my scrubs three days later (My choice, I could've picked them up the next day). I think these other bad reviews were from entitled people that wanted too much done in an unreasonable amount of time. Also, I think people come to these smaller sewing shops and expect the staff to be able to sew any and everything at a moments notice, which is ridiculous. This quaint little mom and daughter shop is heaven for those seeking trinkets and knick knacks. Staff is very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate my small last minute sewing job graciously. It was completed when promised and I left a very happy and satisfied customer. It's very disconcerting to have someone make fun of your weight when they're trying to fit a garment on you. I must admit, I just had a baby and my weight was an issue in this particular garment. Carrie altered our daughter's very complicated wedding dress and after she finished, it fit her like it was specially made for her. Many of the beautiful beaded lace appliqués had to be removed and replaced and you couldn't tell that the dress had be altered in any way, the hand work was so perfect. We love this sweet mother and daughter team and enjoyed sending time with them every couple of weeks for fittings. Our little granddaughter even enjoyed spending time with Carrie's granddaughter as she entertained her with horses and unicorns while her mommy's dress was being fitted. I have been having my clothes altered here for years and have always had the most pleasant results- and the cost has been fair. I also enjoy the Knick knacks and accessories available- I have given some beautiful and unique gifts from here! The owner is chatty and friendly and workmanship is superb! I have referred many of my friends and family here. After being a loyal customer for years we will never use their service again ! My husband took in a shirt to get altered and told them it was no rush but after 4 month one would think it would be ready for pick up. My husband went on a Thursday to pick it up for the second time and it was not ready he was told to come back Monday and when he showed up on Monday he was told it was still not ready because something more important came up !!! Now one would think when charging $124.95 for an alteration of a shirt ( custom alteration ) that this customer would be important enough and have his shirt ready !!! They really just gave lame excuses on why . Do not go to this place unless you have a small fortune to waste. I sent a gown in to be hemmed. It was on a Monday and needed to be done by Saturday. The woman refused to give me an estimate on the cost. And for good reason. After she finished I was then told that it would cost $150 dollars. To hem a dress. That is crazy. The work was good. I ordered a dress for my daughters prom. Didn't know it was coming from a knock-off overseas manufacturer. Dress came in very very poorly constructed. Dress style was lace over liner, with all over beading. Inner dress liner was sewn in twisted by the manufacturer so the dress wore with a bound twisted look, and the leg slit was binding and hanging flipped out. It was hot mess. Leg slit had to be taken apart and reconstructed with additional material, inner liner removed and adjusted back to proper alignment. Sue and her daughter did a great job, I was very surprised by how much they knew about these types of dresses. At final pick up there were many prom dresses like my daughters hanging in her shop. Sue and her daughter know what they are doing. They know dress design, construction and work fast. This review is just me finding another way to further extend a great big thanks to Sue. My wife and daughter were very very pleased. Now we know where to go! read more
