The bread was light and airy with an herb dipping oil, and the house salad was fresh mixed greens with a really good house-made Italian dressing. The Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was the star. Fresh, al dente pasta with a rich, creamy, garlicky sauce and a well-seasoned, crispy chicken cutlet. Absolutely delicious. Melissa loved her Chicken Parmesan with gnocchi. When we asked for extra red sauce, they made it fresh and brought out a warm bowl a few minutes later -- BIG points for that. Our server also became much more attentive and personable once things settled down. A shaky start, but San Marino definitely finished strong. The salad was fresh and delicious (and not a shred of iceberg lettuce!) and the house made Italian dressing was very tasty. It was a golden Italian that had a nice flavor. My gnocchi was AWESOME -- tender, airy and full of flavor, and the chicken cutlet was delicious. I asked for extra sauce because I like my pasta saucy, and they brought me a gravy boat full of freshly made, piping-hot sauce! Turns out their sauces are made to order, which was such a nice surprise.and wellllll worth the wait. Prices were a little higher than I expected, but you can tell the food is made fresh and with care. There's definitely some love going into these dishes. Italo's Pizza and Leonardo's Pizza where the two pizza places that I grew up on. When I would come to visit my grandmother after moving away Leonardo's pizza was always something my family had to eat when we were in town. It was usually the first thing that we would eat when we arrived in town. If my memory serves me well then I have to say that the taste of Leonardo's pizza hasn't changed since I was a kid. It's still the same great pizza. There's something about Leonardo's pizza that makes it unique. And I think it's the crust that makes the pizza stand out from all the pizzas in the area. The crust is thick, doughy, and savory with a little gooey satisfaction and crispiness on the bottom and edges. The edges of the crust are just as good as the center crust. The sauce is sweet and savory with a spiciness that gives it a nice kick. The cheese is stringy, creamy, buttery, and satisfying. I got pepperoni and sausage on my small pizza. The pepperoni was just as good as any pepperoni I've tasted. The sausage was a little bland and tasteless. There is some sort of tasty oil on the crust which I think is a combination of what they may spread on it during the preparation and the oils from the pepperoni. Whatever it is and wherever it comes from it's delicious and makes the pizza .
