I initially deleted my negative review because the owner, Randall, personally called me,…read moreapologized, and promised to make this situation *partially right. I regret giving him the benefit of the doubt. My active-duty Coast Guard son paid Hawk's approximately $5,300 to replace the engine in his 2019 Kia Rio with a used engine that had approximately 14,000 miles on it. Approximately 10 DAYS after the engine replacement, while my son was traveling across the country for a Coast Guard move, the vehicle broke down again in Oklahoma. He was stranded far from home and ultimately had to leave his vehicle behind and fly to California to report to his new duty station. In addition to the repair, he incurred airfare, checked-baggage expenses, shipping costs for his civilian belongings, Uber/transportation expenses, and the enormous inconvenience of arriving at his new duty station without his vehicle and belonging he could not fly or ship- The Oklahoma mechanic who actually diagnosed and repaired the vehicle confirmed to me that the problem involved the engine-mounted high-pressure fuel pump. He found that the mounting bolts had snapped off. He told me they may have been overtightened or not tightened at all-The resulting repair cost my son another $1,200 (and that's with the mechanic accepting mere crumbs for labor!) What happened next is the reason I am writing this review: Randall called me himself. In his voicemail, he apologized for what happened, discussed the fuel-pump bolt issue, said that although the replacement engine came with the fuel pump already on it, they should have gone in and checked/tightened the bolts, and then specifically told me he was going to send us a check for half of the $1,200 repair bill. He asked me to text him my mailing address so he could send the check. I did so on September 2. I believed him. In fact, I was so appreciative that he appeared willing to stand behind the situation that I deleted my original negative review. I told him I appreciated him doing the right thing. I gave him the OK mechanic's phone number and the receipt for $1200 for him to verify my facts: I then waited. And waited. I followed up. Randall acknowledged one of my follow-ups. I followed up again a week later asking when I could expect the check. My message was read and not answered. As of September 20, 18 days after providing the mailing address he specifically requested, no promised reimbursement has arrived and I have received no explanation for why he apparently stopped communicating. 10 days after Hawk's completed a $5,300 engine replacement, the vehicle broke down again; the Oklahoma mechanic found the high-pressure fuel-pump mounting bolts snapped off; my son paid another $1,200; and Randall subsequently apologized and voluntarily promised to reimburse half of that bill. He has not honored that promise. I have preserved the original voicemail, its transcription, our text-message history, payment documentation, and the information from the Oklahoma mechanic. I am now documenting this matter with the Virginia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Section and the Better Business Bureau, and we are exploring the legal-assistance resources available to my son as an active-duty Coast Guard member. This entire situation could have ended very differently. I gave Randall credit for stepping up, removed my first review, and gave him more than two weeks to do exactly what he volunteered to do. I wasn't demanding that he pay the entire $1,200. I was simply expecting him to keep the commitment HE voluntarily made. Consumers can draw their own conclusions from these facts. I know that I would never entrust another vehicle belonging to someone I love to this business.

They charged me $30 to look at t and provided an a free vehicle look over on other things. They let me know that it was indeed leaking and found an additional leak. They sent me a quote and I was flabbergasted at the price. The first original leak repair was quoted for $2,700. They did find another leak that would cost me an additional $1500 to repair . Way more than I was planning. I talked to a gearhead at my work and he said absolutely do not pay that. He said they do this to women, unfortunately. I talked to two other local shops who quoted me for everything on the original repair for $800 and $1100. Those quotes were for everything 17th Street was going to do for $2,700. I hate that companies do this. The icing on the cake was that when I drove my car home, I popped the hood and they didn't even attach the cover to the motor. It was just laying cockeyed on the top. It makes me question what else they didn't reinstall after looking over my car.

Completely unacceptable, frustrating experience…read more I paid $1,338 for front brakes and calipers, and within six months I was still having braking issues. When I returned, they replaced only one front rotor under warranty. After a third visit for the same braking noise/vibration, I was told the problem was my rear brakes, even though those had been replaced only three months earlier at another shop. I then went to three independent shops, and all confirmed the real issue was a warped front rotor (the one not replaced the second time I brought it in). This should've been fixed the second or third time I brought it in. Instead they shifted blame to another shop, in which their work was confirmed to be fine. And for the price I paid, I shouldn't have had to bring it in multiple times for the same issue. Still after three visits and over $1,300 spent, my issue was still not properly fixed. The only good thing about this experience was that it was under warranty, and another shop was able to fix my brakes properly. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before trusting this shop, and if possible save your time and go elsewhere.

I was doubtful that they were so much better than the competition as to justify the drive, but I was wrong. Theyre definitely worth the drive. I went here to have AC compressors replaced on two vehicles, multiple state inspections, an alternator and most recently suspension and brake work. The prices were competitive and work that easily could have taken multiple days was done in one. They called me to keep me updated on the progress, and on two occasions let me know that the work I requested was not required and I could save money by not doing it. When the alternator was replaced, they identified the reason why it failed (and oil valve leaking on it) and fixed that which was missed by the place I had gone to just weeks before when the previous alternator failed. They are polite, professional, and do quality work. I doubt that you will find a better auto repair operation in this area.

They fount that exact same off road tires for $75 less per tire than I found anywhere online. The 4 tires, mounting, balancing, install, and front end alignment happened in 3 hours on the day I first called for an appointment. The people are very friendly and kind. I could not have asked for a better first time experience. The waiting room was full of repeat customers. They also do inspections. I will absolutely go back again. I trust them.

EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!…read more I had an outstanding experience at RNR Tire Express on N. Main Street in Suffolk, VA, and I especially want to recognize Service Representative Baconta Buffalow for going above and beyond. After noticing my driver's side rear tire was low, I filled it and discovered a nail embedded in it. On top of that, my front driver's side tire had an inoperative TPMS sensor. I had an important appointment about 40 minutes away and very little time to spare after work. I stopped by RNR Tire Express hoping they might be able to help on extremely short notice. Not only did they assist me--they exceeded every expectation. Mr. Buffalow listened to my situation, understood the urgency, and immediately coordinated with the technicians to take care of my vehicle. While inspecting my tires, they also discovered internal damage in the tire with the faulty sensor that would have caused a dangerous failure if left unaddressed. Thanks to their thoroughness, they likely prevented a much bigger problem. Despite the last-minute request, they completed all the needed work quickly and professionally. The pricing was more than fair--especially considering the urgent timing--and they even applied a military discount without me asking. I left with peace of mind, safe tires, fully functioning sensors, and tremendous appreciation for the entire team. I highly recommend RNR Tire Express in Suffolk, their skilled technicians, and especially Mr. Baconta Buffalow, who made the entire experience smooth, efficient, and stress-free. This is customer service done right.
