Sad to say that I had a very poor experience. It'll be my first and last time going to this shop. Firstly, when being handed a rejection sticker for my car, the tech looked like he was deriving pleasure from this- he was grinning from ear to ear! Then, after I got the issue fixed, I headed back to the shop to get my inspection sticker and they'd closed early for xmas eve! There was NO signage on the door. On the Friday following xmas, I headed out early before work to try and get the problem resolved again, and the shop was still closed with NO SIGNAGE stating they'd be closed- they also had no prompt on their answering service stating they'd be closed. They wasted my time with the poor communication, and I felt angry when the tech smiled while handing me my rejection sticker. Wouldn't recommend this chaotic, unprofessional place. read more

Took my mom's 2006 Jeep Commander to Midway Auto Repair for a power steering leak inspection on 2/2/26 and they charged $150.00 for the diagnostic/inspection. They diagnosed that the rack and pinion assembly needed to removed and replaced but failed to diagnose that the power steering pump also needed to be replaced until after the repair which including labor and parts cost a total of 1,872.30. This cost also included a wheel Alignment and power steering pressure line hose assembly. After Midway Auto Repair completed the repair I was told that the power steering pump was whining but that it wasn't leaking anymore but the power steering pump would need to replaced which would cost another $650 but they couldn't catch that in the initial diagnostic that they charged $150 for. So they did a half repair at Midway Auto Repair. Please don't take your vehicles to this place. Their customer service and competency is very low and their diagnostic or inspection process is garbage. The mechanic had the nerve to tell me that you just paid for a $150 diagnostic of the leak as if inspecting the power steering system didn't include the pump. I came in for an oil change and state inspection. They noticed an issue that would cause me to fail the inspection but they took care of it quickly (and I appreciated that they let me know rather than letting me fail inspection and having to pay again). My oil change was done the same day I arrived and the other service happened as soon as the part came in. They communicated well when something came up and their prices were fair given what I've seen at other shops and I did not feel taken advantage of as a woman. And all of the employees, especially Eddie, were super friendly to me. I will definitely return for future service. read more

They are honest, reliable, quick and responsive to their customers' needs. Having been in their care since I bought the van in 2019, I've learned that we are a trustworthy team which works together well, considerate, patient and respectful of each other. Hi, I called the day prior and asked for an appointment to do a state inspection. They told me I cannot and had to come in by 4 PM to do it. I came in for 330. It sat in my car until 420 for them to finally tell me that they can no longer do my state inspection, and I have to come another day after speaking to multiple employees Saying that they can do it. The Asian guy said that because I didn't speak to him I cannot do it. read more

After writing my original review, I received an email from Edward (the business owner) a few days later. He wrote a heartfelt apology for the confusion about the doors being closed. He said it was because the weather was really cold out, so they kept the doors closed. I did mention though that the sign out front said to wait for a technician to come out and meet or drive the car into the shop, and no one ever came out. I guess I would be willing to give them a shot again if the need came up. They seem like good people here. read more

While visiting from out of town (Mt. Crawford, VA) and having trouble starting my car at a rest stop in Richmond, VA, I came to Midway Auto on the recommendation of a friend. Midway Auto took my car in right away and I left it with them. Within 3 or 4 hours, the repair was complete, and I was able to drive on to my destination in Norfolk. Amazing service! Was able to do a walk-in state inspection in under an hour, the staff was very helpful!

Stopped to get my brakes done. Was told it would be $390. While I was told by Big Al's that the same thing is $350, I gave them a try. Was told that axle also broken. Just went ahead and had my brakes done. It was done in an hour.(impressive). Got up the street a ways and car stopped moving. Transmission fluid was everywhere. Had car towed back to Midway. Was told my radiator plug blew(go figure). I had to pay another $560!! Why??? Because they said it busted because of corrosion!! No discount at all!! read more

Excellent and quick service. They are very considerate, calling me ahead of time so I could Uber over and even had the car warmed up for me when I picked it up! I was a walk in customer in the pouring rain and even though they were booked for the day they did a quick diagnostic test for me. I just moved to Norfolk so it's nice to find reliable service here. Midway Radiator is a awesome place to get a radiator put in. I watch the mechanic do the pressure test to see where the failure was going on with my radiator.
