After reading the many positive reviews and staying practically across the street, I figured I would stop in to see what Sugar Divas had to offer. I was not disappointed; upon walking into this little cakery, I was greeted by the sweet smells of cake and frosting and an adorable interior. There were only 2 workers, but both greeted me with a huge smile. I could tell they genuinely love working there. After being offered an absolutely delicious sample of their strawberry cheesecake flavored cake, I checked out their cupcake selection--everything looked amazing. However, several of their cupcakes were sold out, including their two most popular ones, so I opted for the pina colada cupcake. I was excited to try it, but I soon found out that they just sold out of that too. Disappointed, but still hungry and hopeful, I went for the creme brulee cupcake instead. But let me tell you, this was a blessing in disguise. This cupcake was so yummy! It had the perfect amount of sweet (I'm not a huge frosting person but this was excellent) and I was delighted to find the inside of this masterpiece filled with custard, too. Dropped by after having lunch next door at Sodo Sushi this afternoon and upon walking into Sugar Divas we were immediately in love with the sweet smell of cupcakes and cakes!! I live in NY and needed an Orlando bakery to use since I was going to be there for my son's 5th birthday. I stumbled upon Sugar Divas and I was blown away by their work. I was really nervous about not being able to see the cake before it was done and I was really nervous about the delivery process since the weather was so hot and humid. They laid everything out for me and gave me different pricing options based on the cake design that I had. It was very intricate and had a lot of Duck Tales characters in awkward positions. It ended up being on the expensive side since I went wit all hand made characters but I'd rather pay more and get what I expected. It was EXACTLY what I expected when they delivered it! The delivery was perfectly on time and they added a few candles to it since I didn't have any which was really thoughtful. My son saw it and LOVED it! There was so much cake that we ate from it for 3 days lol. If you want an amazing cake that all of your party guests will rave about, Sugar Divas is the place for you! I threw a surprise party for my boyfriend's 30th, and he could not get over the cake. It was so beautiful we didn't even want to cut it! It was worth it though, because these cakes are both beautiful and delicious, which is a 10 out of 10 in my opinion. I'm not a huge cake person, so I scheduled a cake tasting, and these wonderful women were more than accommodating. If you find yourself in the SODO area with a sweet tooth, Sugar Divas is a great little place to satisfy that craving. It's located next to Fleet Feet Sports and is every little girly girl's dream! Lots of pink, polka dots and butterflies. I actually commented that this would be a great location for a little girl's birthday party! They have cupcakes on display but I found out they they have fresh ones in the back that they ice when purchased! I went with the strawberry cheesecake cupcake while my husband had the cookies and cream flavor. Mine was a nice balance with just enough icing that it wasn't overpowering. Mid-bite I was greeted with a pocket of strawberry preserves . It was heavenly and really brought out the sweetness of the cupcake. Both cupcakes were topped with a thin sweet wafer nestled in the icing that said "Sugar Divas"...and yep, they're edible! Not only do they have cupcakes here, but they specialize in cakes whether it be for weddings, birthdays, or any special occasion. In fact, the woman working informed us that the owners were off making a cake delivery so she was manning the shop while they were out. On my way back to my car from the running store I stumbled upon this bakery. The window had a variety of cakes--a Michael Kors handbag, some high heel designs -- a window display clearly aimed at whetting the visual palette of the female sex. Nevertheless, I took a deep breath and went inside to see what other baked goods were available. Inside the store was modern and metropolitan, which was an interesting juxtaposition to the three generations behind the counter that looked like the makings of a Hallmark or Publix commercial--complete with a beautiful, smiling baby sitting atop the back counter, an elegant, doting grandmother, tending to her, and the friendly, baking maven herself, working busily. I fixated on the cupcakes, with key lime-flavored options, chocolate choices, and my ultimate selections--a lemon cheesecake cupcake and an amaretto-raspberry one. I took them to-go so I could share the cupcakes with my partner in cupcake-tasting crime. We split each in half and took our respective plates. I tried the lemon cheesecake first. The cake was moderately moist, and spongy--much different than what I had anticipated and far less dense than its competitors. The lemon was subtle, and paired well with the cheesecake-flavored icing. The amaretto-raspberry was equally spongy, though it was filled with raspberry jam. The jam wasnt super tart and the amaretto flavor was sweet without being cloying. We liked them both--a lot and took a ganders at the company's Instagram account. The variety of cakes was impressive, as was how skillfully they were executed--which I'm sure tasted as good as they looked. I have followed Sugar Divas Cakery on Twitter for a while, but hadn't made it to their location in Sodo on Orange Avenue. I needed a custom "Frozen" themed cake for my daughter's birthday party and e-mailed a picture via Twitter asking if they could make something similar. Let me tell you that I was shocked at how perfectly this cake came out! It was exactly the same as the picture I sent. I almost cried in the store! I will post a picture. If you need a custom cake, I highly recommend you contact Sugar Divas...they are fantastic and so easy to work with. Since I stopped by their store to pick up the my cake, I had to sample a cupcake...so I opted for the champagne and berries. It was really good, and had the perfect amount of icing to cake ratio that I enjoy. I can't wait to return and try more of their cupcakes. Beware, sugar divas is unstable And unreliable. Takes payments and then backs out! Don't count on them for anything!! She spent two weeks to do an online order in which she told me she doesn't usually provide invoices to be paid against. Her online payment system did not work and forced me into trying over 10 credit Cards in which her payment system was collecting information of each card and then denying them all. I was then able to pay finally by calling her. She demanded the fully 3100 usd up front because the cake was "a lot of work". Then she emailed days after the credit card payment had posted demanding front and back of drivers license. Then more days later she asked for additional information. At this point I began to question her as to what was going on. Based on my questioning her, unstable Clare changed her mind and canceled my order under the pretense that "she knew I would be an unhappy customer" and she had years of experience to judge that before even working with me. So she canceled and refunded but only after taking all the credit card information and drivers license information off her web payment form and all the drivers license info And wasting two weeks of my time. Reporting her to bbb to look into for possible fraud. Beware beware. At the very least she will waste your time and not deliver. Very unprofessional and bad experience. Maybe good for buying a few little cupcakes but never rely on them for a bigger order ! read more

Deeply disappointed in a custom cake that we ordered. The design was poorly done with lots of blank spaces in between the design areas, the fondant had cracks in it and two finger indents on the top of it, and there was plastic found under the layer of the frosting under the fondant. Additionally, the flavor and request for filling was not followed, we just got a plain chocolate cake instead of what we paid for. The cake was dry, not tasty and thrown out by the end of the next day because no one liked it. For the close to $200 we paid, Publix or even an easy bake oven would have been better a choice- and my regret is that we didn't do this. Also, if you are just looking for some of the best yummiest desserts, check out Sister Honey's not too far from there.
