Really, really, wanted to like this place based on the reviews and stars.. The gyro meat was defrosted frozen meat which is toasted on a pita bread.. The food in general was meh.. maybe other items on the menu are better, but the gyro was lackluster and I'm not sure if I'd come back. The baklava was stale and you can notice the insides being discolored from being out too long.. The lady that owns the restaurant was a real sweetheart. She was very nice and sweet to talk. Please be good, please be good, please be good! That was the thought running through my head just before I took a bite of my sub from Sugar Hill Subs. Why you ask? It's hard to argue with a place that has a solid 5 star rating with over 50 reviews, and a yelp congratulatory plaque received from yelp. Backing up, a buddy and I were just coming from a couple of hikes and found this place through the yelp app. Seeing the stars, and wanting a good sammy, we headed on over. we were instantly greeted by the mom and pop team, who let us try samples of their Indian dishes (the owners are Indian)...a once a week deal (Fridays only) that I did enjoy, but I was set on trying their subs! I got myself one of their signature subs, the chipotle prime rib regular (8") ($5.99) on wheat. You can add any topping you like on their subs but in my case, I included onion, pickles, banana peppers, jalapeno peppers, oil, vinegar, black pepper, and it came with their signature chipotle mayonnaise. The first thing to note is the bread is toasted, but it's somehow soft while being crispy at the same time, and I really enjoyed how easy the bread gave way when I bit into it. The meat was chopped and was seasoned very well, without being an overly messy sub, and I really enjoyed my sandwich! While I got their regular sub, they also come in small (6") or large (12") and are priced at $4.99 or $7.99 ($7.29 for classic), respectively. The other signature subs are as follows: Dbl cheese steak Baja Chicken Chicken-bacon-ranch Honey Mustard Chicken Mush & Swiss Steak French Dip (Aujus) Alfredo Chicken Buffalo Chicken Here are their classic subs, which come in the following: Italian Turkey Bacon Guac South Beach Cuban Classic Club Traditional Ultimate The cool thing about the classics are that they have a special "Daily Value", where you can pick two 6" subs for $5, and if you're not into so much bread, they also have flatbread. If you're not fortunate enough to come on a Friday, and subs aren't your thing, they also have specialty items like Gyros, falafal and salads. They've pretty much got you covered. Sugar Hill Subs is in a strip that houses other shopping areas, so parking is not a problem at all. Entry and exit is also quite easy with a red light exit nearest to Sugar Hill Subs. The interior of this place is a decent size, with about 7 or 8 tables that seat 2 to 4 people, depending on which one you get and again, customer service is super friendly and take great pride in their yelp reviews. So bottom line, do I think my sub at Sugar hill subs was the best i've ever had? No, but it definitely beats the pants off of any chain sub shop, and gives other independents a run for their money. A bit of a drive from Atlanta, but if you're ever close and are up for a good sub, these guys may be able to help you! read more

Came here for the first time to pick up some dinner and wow, I first get greeted by the owner who was so sweet and welcoming. I initially came for the chicken tikka masala wraps to find out that she only makes Indian food on Fridays. Since she said I wasn't the first person to ask, she will be making it this Friday (WOOHOO!!!) She insisted I try the gyro because it is the most popular thing on the menu, and now I know why. It is seriously so yummy and maybe I'm just on a food high, but the pita bread tasted super fresh and so yum yum in my tum tum. We ordered 2 gyros 2 fries and 1 bowl of broccoli cheddar soup (I added some sriracha sauce for some spiceand OMGGGG SO GOOD). What a great surprise. You would not know it from the outside, but the food is amazing. The owner knows how to bring out great taste in what seems to be an ordinary sandwich. The addition of her humus and her hot sauce to the Giro put the taste over the top. We also had their Steak bowl. It's like combining a Philly cheese steak, a French dip, and a sourdough soup bowl. The woman who answered was super nice, and made sure I knew exactly what was on the sandwich. As soon as I got there, my sandwich was ready! It's an Indian couple that runs the place, and my god, they're so sweet!! Good conversation! Place looked clean and they offered a wide variety of chips and drinks to go with your meal.
