Food has been great in the two times my husband and I have visited. However there was a big issue with a party going on in the middle of the restaurant. I don't really blame the restaurant because it was clear the family was not reading the room. This kind of thing would have been way more suitable for a venue with a party room meant for small children. There were children running around everywhere getting in the way of the staff, throwing balloons, (one which hit my husband in the face while we were having our breakfast) and just overall not having any respect for the other people in the restaurant. It was really cringe to watch the way they were bossing the staff around and the way the staff were bending backwards for them. I'm not sure if they understood that this is a Cafe/breakfast restaurant and not a Chuck E. Cheese. I seriously hope they tipped the staff well. We watched as several other tables in the restaurant went without service for long periods of time. there were multiple tables that we saw get up and express dissatisfaction with the service and how long they were having to wait. If this is the kind of event that this restaurant has going on regularly then we will not be coming back which is really a shame because we've been pretty impressed with the coffee and food so far. I think based on the feedback that they were receiving from some of the other guests there this is hopefully some thing that won't happen again. I wish I left a review the first time we visited. I'm a huge Frida fan (decor). My fiancé could not say enough about the cafe de olla (Como en casa en Mexico) Food was also delicious and hot. The decor is very cute. When my daughter and I walked in at 3pm on Saturday we were excited to try it. First I needed to use the ladies room. An employee needed it more than I and stayed in there for about 10 minutes. I went in and it was dirty and there was no toilet paper (thanks!) luckily I noticed first... our server greeted my daughter in the meantime and told her she would wait for me to return. I ordered a chicken avocado sandwich and a banana malt, my daughter ordered French toast and an Oreo milkshake. The sandwich was dry and weird with maybe 2 ounces of plain chicken. Some strange spongy white cheese was on it too. 0 stars. The French toast looked lovely but tasted weird and was disappointing. 1 star. We got our food at different times. Nobody checked back to see if we needed anything or how the food was. The malt was plain and I didn't finish it. The Oreo shake was by far the best part of our visit! Lots of garnishes and tasted good! Expensive lunch and we walked out hungry. I recommend to only go for a dessert or hot chocolate / coffee drink if you're in the area. The food is good but the service Is horrible. We know they haven't been open long so we figured it was just some kinks they needed to work out.... Really nice ambiance With a tribute to Frida Kahlo the famous Mexican artist. From the moment we walked in I was captured by the art designs on the wall. Our waitress was very attentive and non point with our needs. I ordered the Hawaiian Panini. My daughter had the Chorizo and avocado Torta and my wife the Chicken avocado panini. Everything was delicious. The sandwiches were full of flavor. I also had a coconut almond iced coffee which was delicious. We met with Willie who gave us some background on some of the artwork and I was intrigued to know that every piece or section of the wall had a meaning. Willie told us his creation was the wall with the grass background and Lollipops and the white neon sign that said "Sugar Milk Cafe" He said it was his interpretation of what sugar meant. He also said he had a lot of fun doing it. We also met with Owner Saul. I asked what was the significance behind the Frita Kahlo art and pictures on the walls and he said he found her story very interesting.
