The establishment is nicely decorated with a good vibe. We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy when we got there so we got our food pretty quickly. My coconut hot chocolate was super sweet and not as hot as I would have expected. We got a chocolate chip waffle that was good according to my daughter. I got Mexican omelette that was drenched in salsa. Not spicy at all. It was ok. Needed a bit more flavoring for my liking. Their menu has a good selection. All in all it was okay. My favorite shake is the Oreo shake (you have to get it), and my favorite breakfast item is the chilaquiles with steak. You can't go wrong with the fresh ingredients and great service. A friend of mine asked if I had tried Sugar Milk Cafe before. She had seen a reel on social media and was interested in checking it out. Well, I told her I would beat her to it and made my way there two days later! On Yelp, this place is classified as "Breakfast & Brunch, Juice Bars & Smoothies, Coffee & Tea." My parents and I were planning to order just coffee drinks and sit down for awhile, but upon entering we felt like it would be awkward to do so. No big deal, we figured we might as well order a sweet treat to try out while we were there. The menu is very extensive; they have every flavor of crepes, waffles, pancakes, and french toast you could think of! There is also a selection of savory items such as omelettes and chilaquiles. We ordered a strawberry crepe to share. It was very good. I appreciate how the crepe itself had a bit of strawberry flavor and was also colored pink. The strawberries used were fresh. I would like to try out one of their waffles next time. My go to order when trying out a new place is a hot vanilla latte made with oat milk. Sugar Milk Cafe's vanilla latte is solid. The vanilla taste is natural and not artificial at all. It was a bit sweeter than I am used to, but the place IS called Sugar Milk Cafe. My dad ordered a hot hazelnut latte and said it was very smooth and delicious. My mom ordered a plain latte and enjoyed hers as well. Sugar Milk Cafe is a very cute and aesthetic place. I love all the differently decorated walls, my favorite being the Frida Kahlo wall. The main reason why I am rating Sugar Milk Cafe 3 stars instead of 5 is because the service was a bit slow (it was not busy at all when we were there) and because I had to ask for a different set of silverware, as the one I was given was dirty. read more

This place is a hidden gem and unsuspecting from the outside. Once inside you notice the eclectic design but it all makes sense and is so cute. Don't be distracted by the faded and ill shot menus because the food is excellent and surpassed those pictures lol. By far some of the best coffee I ever had! Let's talk about the staff. horrible experience everyone was getting served and attended to all around us. Literally waited 20 minutes before they even took our orders, so once she finally came we put in our drinks and food. We ended up cancelling our coffee flights that we ordered because the wait was ridiculous! Also ordered a side of fries that never came. All other tables were getting their drinks including coffee flights to a lot of people that got there after us. The menu is overpriced for the horrible experience they provide. MELROSE PARK LOCATION: this is for the Melrose park location as they are another location to Naperville but do not have their correct yelp page set up. I know that this a new restaurant...however, there were a few things I'd like to bring to attention. We had 5 people in our party, and all of the servers seemed to be quite confused. Our waitress wrote down everything we ordered (literally word for word), and would even double confirm what we said. Once our food was brought out, items were missing. I asked two different servers about the missing items. I also had ordered a side of hashbrown potatoes (which is offered on the menu) and was given fries. I even pointed to the potatoes on a plate of my family member and said I wanted these...and the server said no these are the house potatoes. Finally, at the end, when it was time to pay, we asked for an itemized bill. The servers were confused and said that it would print up and show on the POS. When it printed, it was just the total amount and not with the items listed as normal restaurants do when you are paying. I think they could benefit from maybe having a POS ticketing system for ordering instead of having the pad and paper method as it was confusing for all of the staff with ordering and once time to pay. It is a cute new place and I hope that as they continue to be open they can improve on some of these issues. read more

Customer service was poor only one server and it was busy some people even left. I was served my drinks after my meal came. We waited very long for food, drinks ,napkins and the server never returned to see if we needed anything else. We spent about $80 we were celebrating my son's birthday. They use to sing to you and give you a cool birthday hat to wear that didn't happen. I won't be returning unfortunately. Frida Kahlo's art, soft delicious crepes, and coffee that tastes like something more than burned bean soup! Came here after a half marathon to consume calories on a lunch date. This place is great I had the chocolate special crepes and the Cafe de la olla. The coffee is going to taste different from other diner coffee. Be prepared for that but definitely try. My wife's panini and oreo hot chocolate were excellent. We eyeballed some shakes but will come for those with the kids. Wow, the interior of this place is beautiful. Service was friendly. I wanted to make more small talk, but they got pretty busy by 9 AM. They sanitized our hands as we sat down. The menu items are mostly dessert-ish, so I should preface my review by stating that this is a place of indulgence. Not really a place for a healthy breakfast. Anyway, we ordered the potatas bravas, veggie skillet, chocotella crepe, cappuccino w/ coconut, and capuccino creme brulee. The potatas bravas were amazing. Even though this is an app, it was rather heavy. Despite the potatoes being cut thick, they were nice and soft on the inside, and tasted delicious with the orange and green sauces. The veggie skillet was pretty basic, kind of overpriced. Unfortunately it was heavy on potatoes and light on other veggies (like 80/20). If they flipped the ratio of veggies to potatoes, it would have been much better. The cheese quantity was adequate, though. The eggs were okay, but well done. I realized later that they didn't ask how we'd like the eggs cooked; normally I go with sunny side up on skillets. The crepe was pretty good, perhaps a little dense. It was very rich and decadent, which is precisely what it was supposed to be. The nutella really adds a nice touch to any pancake, crepe, or waffle, and the strawberries were sweet. Both coffee drinks looked amazing, but were too sweet. I prefer cappuccinos to be less sugary, which is why I prefer them over mochas and frappes. read more

I started off with a vanilla oat milk latte. I love when cafes can accommodate non-dairy options! Next up, I ordered the green salsa chilaquiles with steak and diced potatoes on the side. My boyfriend ordered the french toast. I enjoyed the chilaquiles but the steak was really chewy and I probably could have gone without it. I prefer my potatoes to be crisper. I know everything looks like way too much sugar and sweet but really it's perfection! Everything tasted so good, even the mole chilaquiles. My daughter and I ate and finished everything you see pictured. Our Particular server was not very present but as I sat and watch I could clearly see that wasn't the case with the rest of the place as the other servers were on it and the kitchen was hustling! They are named correctly because it was basically sugar and milk. Watered down milkshakes brought to the table one at a time (so it wasn't like they made them and brought them out all melty all at once). Completely messy and overdone. Everything tasted the same although we tried a variety of flavors. No kid sizes. So every kid who comes in wants their own $9 milkshake which is understandable, but they can't finish them and it's a complete waste. But here's a box for the mushy cookies and donuts that the kids can't finish. Did we have fun taking pictures of the kids with their ginormous milkshakes? Absolutely. Did anyone come close to finishing their shake? Absolutely not. Did everyone leave with a belly ache. Absolutely. Is this a great idea in concept? Absolutely. Stopped in this cafe for some tea after getting a massage nearby. The place has a nice cozy vibe and was really quiet, although they did have some background music playing. There were only a few customers sitting inside at around 2pm. Seems like a great place to go to study or get some work done. I will definitely come back to try a milkshake in the future. read more

Food has been great in the two times my husband and I have visited. However there was a big issue with a party going on in the middle of the restaurant. I don't really blame the restaurant because it was clear the family was not reading the room. This kind of thing would have been way more suitable for a venue with a party room meant for small children. There were children running around everywhere getting in the way of the staff, throwing balloons, (one which hit my husband in the face while we were having our breakfast) and just overall not having any respect for the other people in the restaurant. It was really cringe to watch the way they were bossing the staff around and the way the staff were bending backwards for them. I'm not sure if they understood that this is a Cafe/breakfast restaurant and not a Chuck E. Cheese. I seriously hope they tipped the staff well. We watched as several other tables in the restaurant went without service for long periods of time. there were multiple tables that we saw get up and express dissatisfaction with the service and how long they were having to wait. If this is the kind of event that this restaurant has going on regularly then we will not be coming back which is really a shame because we've been pretty impressed with the coffee and food so far. I think based on the feedback that they were receiving from some of the other guests there this is hopefully some thing that won't happen again.
