The last issue happened last week, but I waited until today to write about it. I wanted to sit with my emotions and see if it still bothered me. It does. The salon is nice, and I can see they've tried to renovate it, but I wouldn't call it 100% accommodating. The bathroom and baseboards still look old, and the chairs don't have a massage feature. I notice details that other people might not, but none of that was a reason for me to stop coming. I told them from the beginning that I'm picky. I'm polite, but I know what I want and always tell nail salons upfront. I've been getting my nails done since I was 15, and I'm 45 now. My nails are thin and brittle, and psoriasis affects how they look. Sometimes they can look like they might have fungus, but that's what psoriasis does to my nails. I need a technician who understands that. My first appointment went well. I really liked my pedicure and the woman who did it. She's a sweetheart. The nail technician is nice and does a good job, though she has a strong personality that can come across as a little rude. I have a strong personality too, so I gave it a chance. Both technicians are fast, which I love because I travel a lot for work and don't want to spend hours in a nail salon. A full set and pedicure took about an hour and 15 minutes. Both looked cute, and I got what I wanted. About a month later, I called and asked for a fill. When I arrived, the nail technician started removing my nails. She then told me that next time we should do a fill because my nails are so brittle. I told her I had asked for a fill when I called, and that she'd said she would decide whether to remove them once she saw them. She told me that regardless of what I say on the phone, I should discuss what we agreed on directly with her when I come in. I said okay, but I also wondered why my request hadn't been communicated to her. That's part of having a receptionist. I was irritated, but my second full set and pedicure looked good, so I decided to come back. At my next visit, she removed the polish, saw that the nails underneath didn't look good, and decided to take the set off. I also switched from an oval shape to a shorter, simpler coffin shape. The next day, the color started chipping. My sister said that can happen with a solid color using gelx, but I was about to leave the country for work and wanted my nails to look professional. I called the salon, explained the chipping, and asked to come in to fix it. I offered to pay. The person on the phone insisted there would be no charge and booked me. I even asked if she was sure, and she said yes. I want to emphasize that I offered to pay because I value people's work. When I came in, they saw me fairly quickly. Nobody mentioned a charge before or during the appointment. At the end, the nail technician told me it would be $35. I paid and gave her a $7 tip. I wasn't going to change my character over it, but I was irritated. I don't know whether the receptionist failed to tell the technician what she'd promised. My issue isn't paying, I offered to do that from the beginning. My issue is being told repeatedly that I wouldn't be charged, then being charged without an explanation or apology. My nails had been done less than 9 days earlier, and she changed the color and reshaped them. Even if they wanted to charge me, they could have told me beforehand or acknowledged the miscommunication. Nobody did. I've run businesses for years, and transparency matters to me. If a client explains what they need to the receptionist, that information should reach the technician. This was the second time something I'd discussed on the phone didn't seem to be communicated. In my experience, the front desk came across as disengaged, and the communication was mediocre. I'm not naming anyone because I don't want to put anyone on blast. I hope the salon takes this as a lesson. The nails looked nice, the woman who does my pedicures is lovely, and the nail technician is quick and does good work. My biggest issue is the salon's internal communication, which shouldn't be the client's responsibility. Thank you for the services, but I won't be back.

The actual service provided (mani & pedi with gel) was actually pretty good...they were very helpful in helping us pick out colors & I have gotten quite a few compliments on my nail color. Unfortunately, the payment process was so tacky that I will never be back. If you are going to require payment in cash tell people! We didn't have an appointment but I did call ahead to see if they had availability to fit us in & nothing was mentioned about having to have cash. When it came time to pay they refused to take a credit card or a check & forced me to use their ATM machine. Perhaps I was stupid for not noticing the machine before but I have never been to this place & was a but frazzled when we first arrived. When I asked if the ATM would charge a fee they said "no it's for the customers"...wrong! I was charged a fee & had they of told me before I would have gown to the bank! I've been coming to this salon on and off for over a decade -- back when it was Victoria Nails, three owners ago! The original team was so warm and the vibe was always upbeat. When ownership changed, the energy shifted and after 10 loyal years, I moved on. Fast forward to now -- the salon is under new ownership (Grace) and it's better than ever! Grace is young, friendly, and totally up on the latest trends. The space is newly renovated, spotless, and filled with every color and charm you can imagine. Many of the original ladies are still there, which made it feel like coming home. I started a new gel builder routine for my nails and continue my regular pedicures -- everything has been perfect. I can't remember when I first found this gem. The first time I walked into Victoria's I was very impressed with everything about it. Like many others, I have tried so many nail salons so I know a good place when I see it. All I can say is what keeps me a loyal customer is the etiquette of the techs, the cleanliness, the attention to detail that goes in to making my nails gorgeous, and most importantly the customer service Trisha, Bobby, and team give. I've had issues in the past and they were all so nice to address it and made sure I was happy in the end. All techs are great, but my favorites are Angie, Tammy, and Vicky. I love this place. I have been coming here for so long. They offer fixes for free within a certain amount of time if you still have your receipt and something happens to your nails. They serve memosas, water, juice, strawberry margaritas!! And candy / little snacks!! On top of that they do amazing work. I just had my nails done by Thu and she is so good. The only person that hasn't cut me badly at a nail salon continuously lol if she wasn't using a brand new nail file, I would have had zero skin breakage. She is so nice and does great work. Okay, anyone who gets their nails done has at least tried 10+ nail salons. Everyone knows that it's hard to find a good place with great service, great work, and an environment that is actually relaxing. Well look no further- Ask for Lynn, she's a wiz with acrylics. The complimentary drinks and snacks are a nice touch. It's not loud, nail techs aren't rushing you. They aren't "chismiando" in their language. I told her she was hurting me bad and she some sord of ignored me and kept working on my nails. This has been the worse place I've ever been and not thinking on going back. I have gone through several manicurists that just can't "do" short nails, including many at Victoria Nails. After multiple disappointing services at other salons in Orange County, I finally found a place that understands that being a nail tech is a craft and prioritizes healthy nails!!! I've been coming here for almost 2 years and I very much enjoy every appointment. Rachel and Cindy do my manicures and Grazziela does my pedicures. I appreciate them all. They use quality products. They have super clean sanitation practices. I always leave happy. I literally only had one nail break the entire time since coming here and that was honestly my own fault because I loved my nails so much that I waited +5 weeks to come back.

My very first appointment she talked about nail health and I honestly learned so much. I've been coming back ever since. I have NEVER not been completely satisfied with my nails and the experience. I look forward to coming in and catching up with Rachel and leaving with nails I can't stop staring at. She is an artist through and through and I love showing off her work to everyone I know. I get basic gel (or at least I think it is) and my nails always last - I go about 4 weeks between appointments. I've also gotten by nails done by Grazziela, another artist at Vacation Nail Collective. She too did an amazing job! I've been meaning to book a pedicure with her and have been eyeing her books. Just need to commit! The location is also super cute. There's parking either on the street, the lot behind the building, or a parking structure about a block away (don't worry it's free). If you park in the parking garage there is a very cute cat that lives in the nearby houses and it will likely come out and greet you if you walk by (10/10 experience). If you're hungry or thirsty after your appointment there are SO many good cafes and restaurants near by. Since the artists here are so talented, their books fill up fast, so book quickly! Enjoy your pretty nails and ignore how bad I am at nail pics.
